  1. 34 degrees with a foot of snow on the ground. It is melting though... maybe, just maybe, in a couple of weeks I'll be able to get out. Temperature is not so much a factor as snow, ice, rain... all that stuff the clouds hurl at us.
  2. I just read an article that company's like Suzuki have reverted to selling what's been selling best - mid-size cruisers. They've even introduced a new bike toward that end. It will be difficult to gauge what this latest round of economic issues will do to the bike manufacturers until springtime arrives. For now, most dealers, like my local one, are focusing on ATV's, snowmobiles, service, bike storage, etc to keep a healthy bottom line. I think most of the American manufacturers, including HD, will be okay if they agree to bite the bullet, declare bankruptcy, trim the fat, and become "leaner and meaner". Asking for handouts will do nothing more than allow them to continue business as usual, which has been a dismal failure. It wouldn't hurt to watch HD. Word is, $10/share would be a good purchase price. They can keep their bikes though.
  3. Honda St-90. Got it when I was 13 in 1978. Graduated to a car and other bikes afterward. It's still in my parent's garage. I guess I have some crazy thoughts in my head that I'll retrieve and revive it one day. Pic is not of my bike, but looks just like it. file://Cvnt67/users1/pricet/My%20Pictures/st90dax.jpg
  4. I dropped my '06 off at the dealership yesterday. Clarion carries the warranty on the radio, however Yamaha has the warranty on the speakers and everything else. They're replacing my radio, and probably one speaker that has a lot of distortion. I'm also having the clutch basket replaced to try and end that danged chirping noise at higher rpm's. Hopefully it'll be ready tomorrow. Good luck.
  5. Reno, NV at the Grand Sierra Resort. The city is a great western US location with hundreds of miles of scenic roads. Lake Tahoe is nearby. The Grand Sierra has big rooms, golf (including mini-golf), a 50-lane bowling alley, video games, and the list goes on and on.
  6. Anybody have any suggestions on a less expensive alternative to the Yamaha luggage rack for an '06 RSV? If so, are they relatively easy to install?
  7. I purchased a 2006 RSV last month and have a few questions: 1. What type of communications devices are recommended that mesh with the on-board intercom? We have 3/4 helmets. I was quoted a price of $300 at the dealership for a set and I'm hoping to find something more reasonable. 2. Is there a "fix" for setting the cruise control at speeds greater than 80mph? 3. The door for the cassette player sticks, and won't open without quite a bit of effort. Is there a way to correct this problem? Is there a CD player available that would fit in the same space?
  8. I just rode from Reno, NV to Vancouver, WA in one fell swoop, a distance of a little over 600 miles. I was pretty tired. If I could have trimmed off the last 150 miles, the ride would have been perfect. When I take long rides with my buddies (we range in age from 30's to 60's), we try and hit the road no later than 8 AM, and the goal is to be in a swimming pool / hot tub at the next hotel on our route by 4 pm. This usually makes for a 400 - 450 mile riding day. In my opinion, ride until you start getting tired. You won't really know until you find out for yourself. Hope this helps!
  9. Prayers have been said. Please post updates as soon as possible. James 5:15 "And the prayer of faith shall save the sick..."
  10. I thought it was hideous when I first saw it. After seeing it in person, and sitting on one, I've warmed up to the bike... a little. The front end still reminds me of a 1990-somthing Goldwing that somebody took a frying pan to, thereby shortening the bike by 6 inches. I also checked it out at the Victory website. The performance numbers aren't all that impressive. For the money, the RSV is still a better bike.
