  1. (this thread is also in the Meet & Eat section) How about a meet and eat in St Augustine Fl (weather permitting) on Sunday, November 11, 2007. Im thinking we could meet at the LongHorn Steak House on 312 and US1 in St Augustine Beach at about 1 PM then head to the Old City for DQ afterwards. The Good DQ!!!! Well??? :essen_018:
  2. The rear pads usually have a 12-14k life span. When I change my pads I clean around the pistons then I spray some cable lube around the piston diameter before I compress it for the new pads. Works great and my pad wear is fairly even. I use EBC HH pads. Much of the rear pad wear is due to the weight of the RSV. Also most tend to stop on the rear brake only. I try and use both brakes together.
  3. After 1 month in the air the bike is finally on the road. And the best thing is I have several left over bolts and screws. Every time I work on the bike I seem to have some left over. So, I keep them in a container and eventually Ill have enough to put together another bike.......I must have at least 15 bolts/screws in the jar right now. Maybe next years teardown ill have even more left over.
  4. Hey Thom, just keep it and call it "Harley".........
  5. Count me in for a few.......
  6. Run those Metzlers at your own risk!!!! Two sets out of three delaminating have convinced me not to run Metz anymore. I will agree that they handle great in wet and dry conditions, but that rear tire sure does like to seperate.
  7. No, Hig4, it was just my personal opinion, backed up by 36 years of driving experience. I was 16 once, and when I got my licence at 17 we did some pretty stupid stuff back then, myself and most of my friends. I survived, some didnt. Like the saying goes, before you can be old and wise you must first be young and stupid. I dont need any statistics to say that most kids at 16 are way too immature to drive responsibly.
  8. Eck echoes my sentiments. I had thought about the modulating headlight thing earlier but I didnt have time to post. Im glad Don brought it up. As a professional truck driver, I have always flashed my headlights as a way to either let someone in, or to indicate that I am attempting to pass. Like Eck said, it is very possible that the flashing light was mistaken for a go ahead signal. Not saying thats what it was, but a 16 year old sure does not have the mental capacity, nor the experience behind the wheel to differentiate between a modulating head light and someone flashing their lights, nor do they have the common sense at that age to realize that something is about to happen. I believe they just dont fully comprehend their surroundings. 16 is way too young to be driving alone.
  9. Hailey says: Who are these strange space people and why are they trying to use strange lighting thingys to make me woozy???? Shes a real beauty, Gene. Thanks for sharing.
  10. At this point, with all my negatives in dealing with those morons at Metzler, I couldnt care less where the tire was made. They still blame rider fault and refuse to acknowledge a problem with delamination. If you are going to put your name on a product, better make sure its a good product. Arrogance is a word that comes to mind......
  11. I Also Agree With The Carb Sync.....
  12. Jrichard...it dont look too promising right now for me. After our phone call I began to feel weak so I never installed that rear wheel. Looks like ill be spending all day Sunday finishing off the bike. Enjoy Biketoberfest, you and Patricia have a good time, and say hello to anyone else who shows up....even you Thom.....:rotf: And check out Webbers......
  13. Reading this stuff sure does take a big piece from your heart.... May you recover soon Gary and We will keep you and your sons and family in our prayers.
  14. Another day and still no e-mail from DGY....after a week and 3 e-mails and still no answer I am done doing business with them. There are far too many other businesses out there to deal with. This is just a personal observation on my part and my own opinion: While DGY offers a good price on their OEM parts compared to other OEM dealers (DGY was much cheaper than my local dealer), their shipping prices are way out of line. I was charged 16.00 for shipping a package priority mail with signature service, which I did not request, on parts that were feather light and it all fit into a padded envelope. Postage should not have been more than 6.00 dollars tops. Totalling in the shipping, it was almost as expensive as going to my own dealer, but with the so called 18% discount it would have made a small difference. But hey...they even failed to include said discount. Soooooo so long DGY.
  15. Audiovox 23 channel then a Midland 777 model, peaked and power mike..lets see..KAXC2029 the raving rat...
  16. Thanks Don. You know, from what I have read DGY has done some good things for us such as donating prizes, etc. I really hated to make this such an issue but I was a bit put off when they failed to respond to my e-mails. A simple response was all that I was looking for. After seeing the post about Gary and Leslie...it all seems so puny compared to their problems. Kinda really puts things into perspective real fast.
  17. Still no e-mail from DGY.
  18. Such a terrible thing to happen to any one of us. Gary and Leslie are in our prayers. Peace be with you in this terrible time.
  19. Thanks for looking into this, Don. Ill give them the benefit of the doubt until I hear different.
  20. I just installed mudflaps from Timberwolf Leather front and rear and they look great. One area of concern/hassle was lining up that rear mud flap with a trailer hitch and getting the hole marked off properly in the mud flap to cut out for the hitch opening. So, just in case any other second gen owners decide to mount a mud flap from Timberwolf and have the Venture dad hitch mounted on the bike, let me know and I will mail you a full size template you can use to transfer the opening dimensions to the flap so it can be cut out with a minimal of hassle. I used a scroll saw to cut my hole out.....ok, no snickering......... Once I finish the bike, ill post pics of the whole thing. www.timberwolfleather.com
  21. As of today I have still not received any responses to my e-mails. Like I said before, their service was good. The parts came right away. Their failure to respond is what bothers me the most.
  22. I seem to be having issues with DGY on their discount program. Since they are a vendor who offers us discounts I had asked Don about it and he has spoken to them. They had promised to apply the discount (18%) but never did. My issue really isnt so much the discount at this point, but rather DGY's failure to acknowledge the e-mails. Their service was great and the items were received on time. I have pasted the Thank You e-mail that I received today below with my response heading up the e-mail: The following is in response to the Thank you e-mail that I received today: I have sent you 2 e-mails and called the 800 # concerning an 18% OEM parts purchase discount that was supposed to be applied to my order for being a member of VentureRider.org. To date I have not received a reply to either e-mail, nor was I successful in getting this corrected on the phone as no one at DGY would help with this issue. While the parts were received in a timely manner, as you can see from this final invoice, the discount was not applied. You are listed on our club website as a vendor who promised to give discounts on parts ordered from your company. Obviously, this is not the case and I will be posting this on our 3500 member website soon. As I had stated in my previous e-mails, I had asked that the discount be applied or if the discount program was discontinued to please let me know. This has not been done in either case. Your reply at the bottom of the invoice clearl states to feel free to contact DGY with any question that you may have. To date, my e-mails have gone unanswered. This is not a good way to do business.
