New Guy in Town
Condor replied to Chicoman's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Welcome to the board Rich. We get togther here in Norcal a couple of times a year, and you're welcome to join in if you'd like. We're thinking about doing a ride down in the San Juaquin late next spring. We're also having a Venture Roundup in Cody Wy. next Sept.2009. We try to keep a address book with all the NorCal riders email addresses for up coming anouncements. If you'll forward me your's we'll add you on. Jack -
I can see a riding lawnmower in your future.... Nice back yard...

One of these days when I don't have anything better to do... maybe right after the first of the year..., I should sort each model year built and then year sold, in order to get a better picture of the average 1stGen selling price. Lately I've stopped recording the $400-$500'parts' bikes. Yep, Mike if you bought yours in late 2006 I probably have it listed.

Kinda interesting. I've been tracking all 1stGen sales on Ebay for the last 3 years... yeah I know I've got a lot of time on my hands.... Sales of 1st gen's for the month of Novenber 2006 was 15 bikes and the adverage $ was $1822.00 per bike. For Nov 2007, 14 bikes sold and the average selling price was$1519.00. This year only 4 bikes ended up going to new owners, and the average was $1706.00. What does this mean?? I don't know, but I've noticed several bikes never making reserve. The ones that sold were listed with a lower first bid, and no reserve. When they did sell they did fairly average compared to 2006 and 2007.

I'm runing XP Media and large pics screw up the fit too.. I can pump up the rez, but then during regular viewing the screen isn't full. Anyway to increase the rez and still get a full screen.???

I think it has something to do with the way it's listed. Here's another listing that just ended from a ticked off seller. VENTURE

foot pegs on a venture
Condor replied to krotchrocketgrampa's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yeah, it's all your fault... I'm gonna take my pegs and go home now..... -
I wish Yamaha had figured out a better way to keep those vents in the dash. On my first bike, the '83VR, one disappeared riding it home from the previous owners house. Bought another off Ebay for $25 bucks... from Pinwall I believe?? The problem is the dang tabs break off. I've started putting a dab of glue in each of the corners. Now they don't go anywhere, and are still fairly easy to remove if the louvers break.

I agree Bill. I never put my 2 cents in when things start to go sour. The problem is the board has turned into a 'Family' board, not just a MC board. And when events happen that effect us all, there's going to be discussion on the subject. Eventually opinions...everybody has one.... are going to be expressed, and 'Thar' She Goes'!!!.... I just bite my lip, and read the tech forums....

I JUST WANA KNOW... IS IT GOING INTO THE OPE ACCOUNT.

foot pegs on a venture

Try sitting on a 1stGen with floorboards and tell me all about your 1400 mile day... On a 2ndGen you either you have your knees in your chest, or you've got really short legs........... That said, if anyone is interested in a nice set of VentureLine floorboards with heel'n'toe give me a shout. I was planing on listing them on Ebay next spring. -
foot pegs on a venture

Ain't that tall, but I still have a set of highways as far forward as I can get them in front of the guards... and I have been known to rest the back of my calf on the pegs to stretch out while slabbin' it.... -

I'm with you Gramps.... I had boards on the '91 and hated them. Went back to pegs and I'm a happy camper. Floor boards are great for short riders, but for those of us that are horizontally challenged with big feet, the foot wants to point down when the knee is tucked into the fairing and the foot is back on first gens. I've sat on 2ndGens and when I put my foot flat on the board my knee is in my chest. Not comfortable. Pegs, both back and highway, are the only thing that makes long distence riding possible. I can't understand why anyone would feel comfortable with their feet setting flat when the natural position is to be pointed down slightly. SO THERE>>>>TAKE THAT!! -
At 10 degs anything would be a bit slow in cranking... Even me.. To get things turning over with a little more ooomph, you might try installing an AGM battery (PC680) and a set of those heavier starter cables that are listed in the classifieds... MOF if you're using the bike in weather that cold , you might think about 5-30. Just make sure it doesn't have friction modifiers. Most 5 weights do....

The Cycle Sak's I got off of Ebay ran about $50 and that included shipping. They are heavy, but I have lighter ones I carry when heading out for an overnighter. I just did several different searchs for Gorilla Covers on Ebay and it looks like they've gone the way of Cycle Saks. There is one seller that's making long term storage cover that may be an answer. The problem is the BIN $69.95 + shipping, which is going to kick the thing up to around $90 bucks.....
-
They're loosing 5 bucks ea., but they're making it up in volumn.... Actually the shipping is where they're making their profit. Plus the BIN selling price keeps the final fees down to a minimum, and it's only about 25 cents to list the cover. They're not making much. Plus I wrote them about the material they use and the response was plastic. I picked up a made in china for a few bucks more thru a US seller, and it makes a good overnighter, but for long term outdoor storage it's terrible. I did pick up a couple of Cycle Saks off ebay a couple of years ago, and I wish I could find more. They're bullet proof....
