  1. Every indication it was his bottle button. He waits until WOT and last gear and lets it go. Yea that was amazing. Just think, in fifty years that car might be sinking at the Museum.
  2. Glad for you. I know the feeling I was laid off from a Union Shop for two years. The worse thing about going back was listening to everyone whine about their job. It's like DUDE, I hope they lay off from the top down next time and you shall see how it is out there. No one wants to hire you especially when they know your going back when you get called. Nothing will make you miss something more than not having it,.
  3. Hummm I have to check I may have the pump that does not need the POS shut off. I have it, And it will need some fittings to work and thats about it looks to me like. OH! NOW I remember what I was waiting for! Someone to donate the plug end of a bad fuel pump so i would not have to chop my wire harness to get the new Pump on! I Despise hacking into a factory wire harness! OR if someone would lead me to a plug place that would sell me a proper plug, I would not mind setting up a dozen Plug and play pumps fittings and all and make them available. I guess you could always ditch the pump circuit and go off the ING ON power line under the seat I recall one being there somewhere. Thought of that. Anyways I want to do it this spring on my Maintence Months.
  4. It will run on gravity, best with a full tank and good unclogged tank vent. IF and when it happens to anyone else. Take the line off the pump and cut a Bic pen to put between both lines in place of the pump to make it to where you can fix it. You wont get any WOT out of it. but it will go. And I am all about replacing a weak point with a cure, not the same problem. The aircraft Pump is going on mine.
  5. Im wondering if its actually needed this day and age. I think about your only hope to really contact someone who could help you would be to shout out here in the watering hole. And let people with real computers do some magic. Joining the AMA and get the free towing is cool plus a lot of other benefits. And even so to help all bikers, even the Hardley guys we should all be enrolled in BAM. http://www.russbrown.com/join-bam.html And Old Russ has lots of info and checklist that should be with you when you ride. Check him out. http://www.russbrown.com/join-bam.html We have a similar thing on the Roadstar Clinic, When my windshield mount broke on a trip, I gave a shout out on the Clinic and waited 8 hours, Then I just googled Weld shops and found a guy at the right time and was on my way. That google get ya about out of anything.
  6. A thread like this got me nervous before. Someone had posted an aircraft pump that would work from aircraft spruce online. I bought it and tossed it in the side bag. Looks like I had better just install it this spring. I notice on my bike every once in a while it will bogg a bit them pick back up. JUST like the pump is choking out the revives. I can't hardly imagine a more reliable pump than a solid state one from an aircraft engine. There was a problem tot he install, something about the way the power to it is to be cut off. Some gadget you needed to install that made me wait.
  7. Because the bike show is getting far too expensive for what it is, I decided to go only every other year. This was my year. Cleveland, Ohio. Now I am thinking taking it off the schedule entirely. I did a overnight trip to The Iron Pony with a Hotel stay in the honeymoon suite of a fine Hotel, (Best Western Rewards Paid for it) THAT was a lot better! Nice Jacuzzi and IRON PONY had everything I needed! Next year Im going to Iron Pony again! I spent $200+ at Iron Pony and less than $30 at the bike show. Not including admission and parking. Bike show is rip off as usual.
  8. I've got a 2008 and 1/2 I think I'm the only one on that. But just one bike.
  9. When you think about it, these cards have been around for a long time and remain unchanged as far as any real security features, they can do more. There must be some money in fraud, like a tax write off or something. Just on the news have a phone that unlocks by your personal body odor.
  10. Yes this is a problem! I have had to deal with it quite often. The first time it got me I was doing an Iron Butt 1000 in 24 and my credit card was shut off about 3/4 the way through. LUCKY I had read about this on the IRON BUTT web site and was prepared. The current credit/debit card situation is crazy. Last year I had 3 credit cards hacked. TEXT alerts caught Two Wal Mart fraud dept caught one. Its always a mess to sort out and I was told they do not prosecute people who steal credit card numbers. It was up to me to do so at my expense. I got my money back so why would I? These ore authorizations can sure mess with a debut card balance. May even make something bounce. I'm finding myself going back to cash to prevent such things. The less you use the card the better off it seems you are. I did get a google wallet card, you load that one with the amount you are going to spend by phone app as you spend. That prevents over authorization as you describe. It takes the cash from whatever card you hook it two and can be hooked to more than one. The hopes is one day the Google card will replace all your credit cards and rewards cards.
  11. I always heard it was like a http://www.lung.org/associations/states/colorado/tobacco/marijuana.html times worse than cigarettes on your lungs, now, even after GOV sponsored healthcare the Commander in chief says it's ok.??? Just funny that it's hardly been Legal for even a month in Colorado and the Broncos totally tossed a game. Musta been some good stuff, after the game someone asked Manning what he thought and he said, What game?
  12. I had two sets of these a while back, the sides right around the rim cracked within six months, be on the look out for that. I took them off soon as i seen the cracks and AVON never contacted me back, then I heard they were doing warranty on them for cracks, AFTER I tossed mine! But anyways, as they wear down the groove gets shorter at the middle of the tread end. You'll get a flat spot in the middle and still look great as the tread gets towards the sides. Loved the tire in the rain, Hated that it cracked around the rim.
  13. Its really easy once you see how the tabs come out on the chrome strip. It can easily be broken, I call that a Factory booby trap! There are others on the bike. Love it when people do How to's though. Thats great especially Video ones. Or pictured. Although the HERE did not show as a link for me.
  14. Great Deal ION! LOL You GO! Hey! They made some rainx type stuff for windscreens, safe for plastic, it really works, I bought two bottles at the MC show two years ago its called http://www.all-kleer.com/all-kleer-motorcycle.html All I can say is, it works. (Free sample at that link!!!) I keep some in a 35 mm film container at all times. Even good to use to preserve you new drop down screen, and repel bugs, rain, sleet, snow and fog! Can be used on anything plastic. Last summer we left Gatlinburg Tn. in a torrential downpour to seek dry riding. (Thanks to Rainy Days APP) We went through the National Forest and a HD guy in front of us was leaning over to see around his screen, yet we could see clearly, so we took the lead soon as it was safe. In Cherokee he asked how we could see. I couldn't even tell him the name of the stuff because I had it in a film container. Sorry HD guy! But he found it on a search Im sure. Get some! Great on sunglasses, screen visors and i have even used it on chrome! And I dont get any money for selling the stuff, just a disclaimer.
  15. Forget the Manual what is the real world experience on having to adjust the valves. On my Roadstar I can't remember the service interval. but at 70K miles mine hasn't been touched. And thats what others say, Wondering if the Venture does as good.
  16. To be serious, it's not that bad. Ive done it since the early 80's. It's gotten much easier with the new technology in fabrics. You can buy really thin long underwear. Wal Mart and Sams has good deals on it.) THAT will do. But being it's winter and your chance of crashing is increased, I add on the Bhon Armor over the long Underwear. The CE Armor helps fend off cool spots on the old Joints of us old guys. Then I wear Draggin Jeans a Fleece hoodie and my Normal Jacket of choice. A full face works best. I use a Cheap Wal Mart Fleece Balaclava, I have $30 ones that don't measure up to this $5 one. If its a REALLY long ride like over two hours. You can use the MINI HOTMAX or HOT HANDS warmers in your boots and gloves. Two minis are better than one big one, In THIS case anyways. I use Heated gloves. And thats the only power drain. But never leave without the Hot Hands in case something fails. I don't have any other heated grips, seat or any of that. dont think its needed. I consider such things weak spots. (Something to break) Of course you have to get your bike ready. I hear a lot of people say salt ruins the Aluminum. But I rode my Road Star Midnight Silverado that has all Chrome front end and lots of aluminum all year round 7 years and it's flawless. You just coat all that with Engine fogger or they sell a temp spray on paint. It washes right off but protects. And of course a dark side tire works best. I do it both ways though. Plus, I think its way better on the bike than storing it! Running gas through it, heating up the oil and getting the moisture out of the crankcase, flowing oil, gear lube, antifreeze and grease over all the parts. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. You KNOW your bike would love it! After your done wipe her down with some FW1 cleaning wax :cool10:and it don't get any better than that!
  17. I had the same experience last summer, i posted pictures of the difference but in my case the size of the tire was the same, just the brand was different. Anyways after I mounted it, and put it on, it was miles of smiles over the wider tire. Now I will be sure to get the same narrower tire the next time. Not going to get fat again! It handles great! And I put about 7K miles on it so i know. All long trips and twisty. One up, two up, gravel, snow, Ice, rain, and even some dry paved roads at summer temperatures. HA HA!
  18. Well If i had my Roadstar back together, you could have rode that in from my house. Next year. Soon as it warms up, Im going to re start the operating table.
  19. I just made a post WINTER WARRIOR we go out like this every year. This is the first year I have not rode every week, my Roadstar is being remodeled after I donated some parts to Freebird off it. So no winter bike. I hate to run the Venture in this stuff, but I went out on ice and snow today for a good two hours. 16 degrees. I learned how when I HAD to, and never stopped.
  20. As I do every year I went in to http://www.warrenharleydavidson.com/event_calendar.asp?loadpage=no&date=1%2F5%2F2012 to claim my T shirt. Never wore one but I like messing with them by riding a Metric in on the coldest day I can in January. THEy said it was 16 My Weather Underground said 6 none the less, my bike barely even turned a quarter of a crank and started! Off I went! Tried to video some of it because it was icy, but the camera recorded about 5 seconds and then said Temperature too cold to operate or something to that effect. So after the 5 mile ride over there I was still like toasty so I decided to ride around a bit. Lots of looks. Had on Bhon Armor and Heated gloves. Full face with open visor. I should have went the day it was like 10 below. Didnt see FREEBIRDS name on the rider list, ONLY two more days! Winter Warrior is a HD event you ride in during the Month and register for a few big prizes, and give up your T shirt size, they order the shirts at the end of the event, then you come back to pick it up. Then there is a party at a local watering hole, if you win you get the prize, if you are present at the party prize doubles. Local Yamaha shop topped em last year gave away hoodies one day to anyone who liked them on FB and came in, on bike or not.
  21. I went from a factory sized tire to something narrower and it made a gigantic improvement. I also HEAR no experience that is that lowering the front end also helps. Someone else will chime in on that. I'm going darkside on the rear so i expect that to make the same effect as going lower on the front.
  22. Pics are in the link posted. I have done this Mod on my 07 RoadStar. Had to re jet went about 25k like this. Then one day in a torrential downpour I had to mount my bike. I took the cover off and by time I got on the air cleaner was soaked with water. So much so I was starving for air and had only about 1\8 throttle and it was bogging out bad. I barely made it home. Fifty mile trip. That was the end of it for me. There was a few times after that I was glad I went back to the factory box as boring as it looked and as much as it sticks out. I love the look of the aftermarket AC's on both bikes. But the swamp out cured me. I even had a plastic box that went over my K&N on my Roadstar but still when the bike is parked its subject to soaking. Looks like the only drawback though.
  23. I bought a pair and after trying to get into my jeans pocket with them on a few times and realizing how useless they are going to be in a slide..... I just went out and did what I should have from the start, buy FULL leather trousers.
  24. And if you tell them, they will continue to sell the incomplete kit with stuff you do not need I might add to confuse you. When I told them someone had figured it out, they said we will look into it and then decide about refunding your money, and seconds later I got a text from the bank they had stolen my money.
  25. Plug and play! ROTFLMAO Liars. And they charged me $75 shipping and restock fee to return the set of unopened turn signal kit when I realized it was not Plug and play. And it was going to eat more juice AND cause more heat AND take up more room and have me HACK my wires. Just not into it. And it reduces reliability. The double LED license plate light kit I bought off them..... in just 2 months some LEDs went out. Its all Chinese Junk. $74 Sold me something that said was FOR the bike then CHARGED me to return it when I find its not what they said.
