  1. More than 65 years later... they return home. STORY
  2. Hmm in a bit of a pinch here.. A whilst back a local shop that did a front tire change managed to pooch my front axle.. The shop that did the most recent tire change discovered the damage and advised me that though they were able to clean up the threads, the threads in the fork end is not '100% correct' and should look at putting in a Heli Coil and if possible replace the front fork? The Heli coil is a 18mm x 1.5 pitch and no one in town here carries any so that means I have to purchase a kit which costs anywhere from $180 to $280 depending where it's purchased.. I've never seen this operation done before, are these kits expensive in the USA, readily available? Anyone have information as to how these are used, how it works etc? I'm heading down to the USA in a week or two to have my neck bearings done under warranty and hoping the same shop is going to be able to do this task at the same time.. But I can't seem to find out more about it online.. ?

  6. I am trying to order some leather pieces from Chilhowee leather during their 15% off sale. Problem is that the cost of shipping these small items to Canada is worth as much as the leather. It would be helpful to send to a USA site and then simply have it mailed to me. Anyone care to help out a Canadian member? Birin

  9. Hi all. Well I am finally home from Greenland and getting ready for my trip to USA - leaving on Monday. I was trying to insure my USA bike but since I do not have a USA drivers license then none of the bigger companies will offer me insurance for my bike. For a moment things were looking to be hopeless and I was thinking about renting a cage to be able to attend Maintenance day. But I lucked out (so to speak). I found a company in USA that insures bikes for travel through guys like me. They are called: www.motorcycleexpress.com. I called them and they sent me a form to fill out and send back to them. O.K. - had a look at the form and compared to our forms here in Iceland this is complicated to say the least. The minimum time for insurance is 30 days and I can live with that. But the total for that period will exceed 400 US$ at least if the form is filled out the way I did it. I can also swallow that but I am running out of time so to speak and need your help. I will attach the file here and please have a look and tell me how you guys would fill this out - that is what coverage to take. Note that I want to be on the safe side and take as full coverage as possible. Need to send this out this weekend so the insurance will be ready Tuesday. So please helo me with this one so I can ride up to BigToms and to Don´s place next week. Bike or cage,,,,,, Lookin g forward to meet you all ! All the best from Iceland, Jonas
  10. Hey Jeff! On the way to Ellijay this weekend, we passed by a Jack in the Box and I had to take a picture of it for you! I thought you might want to frame it, take it with you and put it in a place where you will see it everyday! Then you will want to hurry back to the good ole USA for some good eating!
  11. I am trying to order a set of chrome exhaust clamps in Canada. There are several references to USA suppliers (see below)- but not manufacturers. Would someone have the make and model of the best clamps to use for the RK muffler mod so that I could source them in canada? With a 28% exchange rate - these parts get expensive to order from the USA. Appreciate your help! Fits all 1 3/4" exhaust headers when attaching 1 7/8" O.D. mufflers Part Number: 24032 V twin mfg and are part # 31-9920
  12. Here is a website put tougher by a woman that has the right idea! Its all about Products that are 100% made in the USA and this is something we should all be concerned about as all of our industrial & manufacturing base has been moved out of the country. If you have a business or know someone that does you should show them this web page. http://WWW.stillmadeinusa.com
  13. For my signature I have 2 where I have ridden maps, one of USA and one of Canada. And every so often I log on site and there will be 2 USA maps or 2 Canada maps and I will have to go back and redo the signature again to get it back the way it was. What am I doing wrong?
  14. Received this from a co-worker.....thought this was worth posting.........what do you think..........??? I got this email and it occurred to me that in our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else and perhaps their job... I don't know who this lady is that started this email but I think she has the right idea. Let's follow her lead!! This is what she says: This past weekend I was at Kroger. I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets. I was in the light bulb aisle and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off brand labeled "Everyday Value.." I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats - they were the same except for the price. The GE bulbs cost more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO ! and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get ready for this -the USA . So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here - from a company in Cleveland OH! So on to another aisle - Bounce Dryer Sheets.... yep you guessed it Bounce cost more money and made in Canada, the Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA ! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at almost half the price! So my challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA - the job you save may be your own or your neighbors! If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so we can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Besides, you might save a little green in the process. Stop buying from China .......... We should have awakened a decade ago...... lets get with the program.... help our fellow Americans keep their jobs ...and create more jobs here in the U.S.A.
  15. I was just thinking what can I say to thank all of you Veterans out there? I never served in the military. I actually wanted to enlist in the Navy when I got out of nursing school and be a Navy nurse, but my Father would not let me serve. My Father was in the Army and Ron was in the Army too. I want to just say I appreciate the sacrifices that you made to serve our country. And I think we all need to take a moment from our busy lives to think of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice serving the USA. To all the families that have lost a loved one in the wars in the past and in the present. We have this day to think of them all and to pray for them all. May God Bless the USA and all our Veterans. Thank you. Yama Mama:325:

  19. Hey has anyone got any info on bringing Trikes into Canada from the states??? I was told yseterday that if I was to convert my bike to a Trike or buy a Trike in the USA and tried to register it in Canada they would not allow it. This came from Canadian Customs.
  20. Found the following at a couple local shops...gonna check them out on the weekend if they haven't been sold. Anyone from around here check them out already? I know the prices might be a bit higher than comparable in the USA but.... http://www.buysell.com/root/detail/BC/Motorcycles_1001_1500cc/4810/68465903/2002_YAMAHA_VENTURE_60600kms_1300.aspx http://www.buysell.com/root/detail/BC/Motorcycles_1001_1500cc/4810/68578103/1999_YAMAHA_ROYAL_STAR_VENTURE_64260kms.aspx
