  1. Thanks to Brian (tx2sturgis) I got motivated and learned how to edit a video, add some titles and music and then posted it to YouTube. The only thing I couldn't figure out is how to export that video from YouTube to this site. Can anyone help me out? In the meantime here is a link [ame= ] [/ame] And here I though that half helmets where a little risky. Harry
  2. Need some opinions PLEASE My wife would like a 40" LCD flat panel tv to mount above the mantle on our fireplace . What brand would you suggest? I started researching LCD's and the information varies depending on what site I look at. Which LCD brands do you prefer and what retailer, internet included, had the best deal? Dave
  3. I've been a member here for a few years and have met a lot of folks at Don's Maintenance Day and on Meet-N-Eats and the Asheville Rally, but unfortunately my "site time" is sporadic and I mostly lurk (I am not nearly as clever and humorous in my limited contributions as many others are). I ride year round (to work) unless there is snow/ice on the road. My hands were always the part of me I couldn't keep comfortably warm. I tried heated grips but the tops of my hands and fingers still got cold. I was going to buy heated gloves, but was not attracted to the thought of every morning and every evening having to pull the connecting wires down through the sleeves to plug the gloves in and containing the spaghetti wiring harness inside my jacket like loose intestines. I read as many other posts as I could find (on site and off) regarding making your own heated clothing. I did a lot of thinking and planning and procrastinating and built up the courage to buy parts and put holes in a perfectly good riding jacket. I documented the experience with the intent of putting it on the site so that anyone else (cheap like me) feeling adventurous and possessing opposable thumbs with an aptitude to follow instructions might want to follow suit. Essentially for the cost of heated gloves and about $50 in electrical parts I built the spaghetti wires permanently inside my armor jacket and put radiator-like heat in the jacket liner. The attached instructions are a kind of long, but include pictures and hopefully enough detail that someone could tailor the procedure to their particular jacket, gloves, and requirements without a great deal of re-inventing the wheel. 5. With the latest site changes, we can really tell who the Post Whores are, can't we, Squid?!!?
  6. Is it possible that a "Wanted To Buy" section could be set up here on our Site? Yes I'm looking to buy a Venture part !

    Americade

Dose anyone know when Americade is and if they have a web site this year? Not having any luck finding it.
  8. I have just finished something that I thought I would every do. I split the faring on the Venture all by myself and put in the spliter to the AUX plug. I also took off the gas tank and ran the wires to the new Zumo 550 that Santa left me. I would never had tried this but with the instruction that Squidley posted on how to split the faring and install the splitter, it was a success. I also want to Thank Eck for putting up with all my p-mails about how to use and set up the Zumo. I am very glad that I found this site in December 2005. I have attended 2 maintenance days and already have reservations for this year. I may be rambling but you don't know how much this site means to me. I don't post alot but I visit daily. THANK YOU ALL,
  9. Ok Don is away for a few days, everybody on this site comments on how much they enjoy the chatter and how the site is a positive in their daily lives. How about we say Thanks by filling Dons "inbox" with a bunch of VR Donations, I am sure he would appreciate starting the New Year with the coffers full, and it would be a neat joke to play on him while he is away, imagine his look when he checks his email to find a 1000 donations!! I 'll start it off, whatever you can spare will help the cause, so please help if you can. Thanks Craig:mo money:
  10. Hi all, here's wishing everyone on this great site a "Happy New Year"from Wales in the UK.http://www.yamahaventureclub.co.uk/forum/smileys/smiley31.gif
  11. Now here is an opportunity for you all to have some real input. Wayne (Wizard765) has designed a new web site for us. This site only focuses on one little portion of our business, in this case being pet food. I would like your comments on the design, setup, information given or anything else that might come to your mind. Don't go easy, let fly now. It's only in the design stages and there's room fo changes but we need to know where or what they should be. http://www3.sympatico.ca/higson/
  12. After a very long year and not so great of a year I is back. For thoose who might have missed (not you Hip) for both of the others I am glad to be back onthe site .May all of you have a great New Year. Ron Nelson

  14. Hi all, I just want to wish Everyone on this site a Very Merry Christmas, & hopefully, a prosperous New Year. "MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY".
  15. Finally decided to check my mail yesterday and came back with one of the nicest surprises I have received in a long time. Gar (Grandpagak) and his lovely bride Ann (Grandmagak) sent me a copy of the latest book out on the life and times of Willie Nelson. The folks on this site never cease to amaze me and sometimes saying thank you seems so inadequate. But, as inadequate as it may be, please allow me to take this opportunity to publically express my thanks and appreciation to Gary and Ann for this great Christmas gift. Thank you so much. Russell
  16. Hey all: I am sure many of you are very familliar with the biggest and most successful social networking site on the web, FACEBOOK. Well if you are like me, and you spend many hours on that site, you will be shocked to learn, that with the millions of groups facebook has, there was no Venture group! Actually there was one, for the Venture snowmobile, but not the motorcycles. So, I started one. If you search for Yamaha venture or tour deluxe you should find the group. It is open to all, and I used this site as the website link, so hopefull will just expand the VR family a bit. And of course, all my VR family is welcome to add me to their facebook. Just wanted to get the word out. Hope to see you all round cyberspace! Sonny
  17. I need to clean the saddles on my MM RSV. If anyone could recommend a good product for that job it would be appreciated. Also, just wanted to say that the response I've gotten from the people on this site is fantastic. You people love your Venture's. Hope I end up enjoying mine as much. So far so good.
  18. Nice to see that the Boss has upgraded the site. One thing I don´t like though is that I got little X´s in all the small boxes all over the page. What´s up with that:confused07: Can I fix this or is this a bug on the web site? Maybe I need to install a "active X" software or something . Am I the only one seeing this?

  20. It may be early, but Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Things are going to be hectic with family gatherings so I want to thank everyone, especially Don for this great web site. When I look back on this year and think about all of the wonderful responses for this site when I crashed by bike in Oct. of 2007, I think this is a pretty good place to be. I hope all of you have wonderful gatherings of family and friends. My best to you all and ride safe.
  21. A lot of years ago, I bought some chrome fork tube protectors for my '83. I thought they were made by RIVCO, but I see they don't list them on their site. Now I need another set--does anybody remember who makes (or made) them?
  22. Well the wife is going to buy me a satellite radio for my "06" Venture for my birthday. Oh boy. Was thinking on getting the radio and installation kit with the bracket all in one. As usual I come to this great site to see what you guys can recommend. If anyone has pics on what they have on their bikes that would be nice. Thanks
  23. I just want thank everyone on helping me with my problem of two keys. this is truely a great site. THANKS AGAIN:12101:
  24. After a lot of thought and consideration I have traded the Venture for a new Yamaha Rhino. Loved the Venture but the wife has kind of lost interest in riding this year. We only took 1 short trip to Eureka Springs, I think it has something to do with the grandkids. If I can I will get another bike to ride to work next spring but it won't be a touring bike, I'm getting old would like something alittle lighter. Anyway I wanted to say there are a bunch of nice folks and a lot of valuable information on this web site. I have learned a bunch from you'all and enjoyed meeting some of you at the Eureka Springs Rallys. Now if I can just find such a good web site for the Rhino I will be happy. So long and ride safe! Danny & Cyndi
  25. Hello I found this site about a week ago hide in weeds reading everything. I seems to be a lot a people with good answers to tech questions so I have one. I bought a 2005 RSV in July, just getting back into riding really missed it. Put on about 5500 miles this summer. Now my problem, it will back fire out of left side when I get off the gas. I have had it to a dealer and of course it would not do it. They adjusted carb no help I am lost it still has great performance and fuel mileage. I can live with it but it makes the bike sound cheap when it does it and I don't want that. Any ideas? The other thing I read somewhere in here about a fix for squealing brakes cant find it back. Thanks for any help.Great site.
