sorry, this may be a duh question. I'm a classic Yamaha fan... just recently rebuilt a xs 750 triple. I saw this big bad beauty(83 venture royal) at a local used motorcycle place, with a nice winter project price tag, and couldn't resist. so every Japanese motorcycle has its own engeneering secrets and issues to overcome. I located where the oil goes in on the lower rear/right of the bike... but the cap had no dip stick? how do you check the oil? thank you all in advance.

Pretty simple question. Is the gas cap on a 2009 Royal Star Venture the SAME SIZE as a Royal Star Tour Deluxe gas cap...or any other Yamaha's that are the same size as the Venture. Thanks, Wally

I have a 1986 venture, my brother just bought a 1996 royal star, my venture is so much smother than the royal star i cant beleave it, could the carbs being out of sink cause it to vibrate more, the motor vibrates trough the floor boards, only has 29,000 miles on it, it just dont feal right, i would not think there would be that much deference between the two, wont be abel to sink his carbs for couple of weeks untill i get up to his house, he is about 120 miles away from me, just wondered if any one has any toughts on this.

My knowledge of the Venture and Royal Stars is pretty much limited to what I have read. Since I decided to start riding again, about two years ago, the Royal Star Venture has pretty much been what I have had my eyes on. I did buy a new Suzuki C50 April 09, and while I like it, it just seems not to be quite the bike that I want. I'd like to get educated on the RSVs and TDs by people that know, not folks that are in the business of selling them, or that just ride a bike once for a review, so I'm asking for some help, so that maybe, I'll not make a big mistake when I pull the trigger on an RSV or TD. What do I watch for, what is a problem but not a big one, and what is a definite "Oh-OH" like for instance, the chirp, problem or not, are carbs and gas a problem, or not? I like the styling of the 1996 and up bikes, but I also like the "feet-under" feeling of an older standard bike! I am 6'2" and 250 lbs, 63 years old, and need something that "fits"! So, if an older bike will fit and suit me better, then that is where I should be looking and I'll definitely be looking in the "pre-enjoyed" section! So Folks, can you give me a run-down so that I can figure out what I need to look for, and not go floundering around "in the dark"?

I have a buddy with a 1989 Venture Royal. He would like to get some after market mufflers that would give his bike some volume. Nothing to loud, but louder then staock. Does anyone make some for his bike. I own a 99 Royal Star Venture with BUB pipes, and it sounds wonderful. My buddy would like to also enhance his exhaust note. Scott (((>

I was looking for another rear shock for the bike and have found that Hagon Shocks make on for our bikes. They had some inventory and numbering issues so I did not end up with one but will order one next time I need to replace mine. They appear to be similar to the Works shock (coilover) and their price is $399. and I believe that is delivered. They were very nice to work with even with the part mix up. Here is his response after receiving my old shock. As I said, I do not have it on my bike so I can not report on it ride quality but these are also rebuildable. "I have measured your shock and confirmed we have an application for your Royal Star Venture.Part # is M62097.The length is 256mm/12mm x30mm top mount/12mmx37mm lower fork fitting. We have ordered one for our stock now." Here's the pics from Sat in Front Royal VA. You can tell which pics Dan helped me out with. The last 4 have the owners of the BBQ place we went to in them. They were great, and he's hilarious. The guys liked his shirt you can read it in the last pic for sure. It was a really fun time, but then when don't we have a good time. Margaret

Well, I hate to do it, but I am letting my bikes go. I travel 5 days a week x 48 weeks a year now for work and haven't been on the bike for - well... way too long. I have an 86 Venture Royal that is in need of a paint job (replaced body parts with donors of other colors) and an 87 Venture Royal which I found neglected and brought in to revive and get it back on the road. The 87 has now had the carbs rebuilt and been repainted a beautiful pure white and I have been slowly putting it back together. (It takes a lot longer to do these things when you are only home a couple days a week.) I am sure I will get another bike in the future but it will be something I don't have to work on and all I need to do is ride it. So... if any of you know someone looking for a couple of 1st Gens, let me know. I know it doesn't count if I don't have pics, but I will get them on here soon.

I just read the tech section in my October issue of Motorcycle Cruiser. A reader wrote in to ask Mark Zimmerman in the Shop Talk section about a Royal Star that has a whine in the rear end. The reader talked about proper shimming and all of his experience. Mr Zimmerman's response was "I'm not aware of any specific or generic problems with the Royal Star's final drive..... I did a quick internet search and nothing jumped out at me, so if you have info to the contrary please let me know so I can find out what's going on." I emailed him instantly, gave him a list of web sites to investigate , including Venturerider.org, If you have any information for Mr. Zimmerman reguarding a whine in a Royal Star I think he deserves an email at zimmemr@aol.com. Lets see if he can make good on his promise to "find out what's going on."

Greetings from Nebraska: Our neighbor owns a 1999 Royal Star. He kept it but started riding a 98 Harley Ultra. In the past two years the Harley has needed a new engine and Tranny and has been in the shop more than on the road. Rode with him on a three hundred mile ride today, the Harley only make it about 100 miles before more tranny trouble arose. He had to call for a truck and trailer. I lover my 2005 RSTD more everytime I ride it!!!!! Good thing he kept his Yamaha, looks like he is going to need it to finish out the riding season. Ride safe everyone...

Hello folks. I saw this listed on Ebay today and thought maybe someone on our site may be interested. Its a 1983 Venture that looks like it could be new. Just look under Royal Star. It was listed on 6/28. I tried to put a link to the page but for some reason it didn't work. Sorry

Ran into this fella on a white Royal Star..pulling this large trailer. He said his name is George and he lives in Miami Tx. I told him about this website...maybe he can join us sometime. Interesting addition, that might not be very easily seen in this picture...he added a kickstand to the RIGHT side of the bike...he said it came in handy pulling the trailer, on certain angles and parking positions. Hmmmm.... You can easliy see that his bike is leaning the opposite way they normally do when parked, as mine shows on the left side of the picture.
