  1. Anyone have this particular seat on their ride? http://www.saddlemen.com/store/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=6886
  2. Venture Riders, I'm new to the site and am having a good time learning. I have a 2002 VMAX and would like to compliment him with a Venture. I am interested in the 86-93 models. Is that considered 1st generartion or 2nd? Also, I was wondering what where some of the differences in those model years, mostly function and option differences. I believe there is no reverse gear in those years, is that correct? Also I'd be interested in member's opinions regarding the pros and cons of the Ventrue for those years. Any info would be great even if you might think it is trival. I'm trying to educate myself for a spring purchase. Thanks! Bill Hampton, IL
  3. Anyone have a Roadmate 2200T or Crossover 2500T? Opinions? Thanks Jerry.
  4. I am going to purchase a trike and trying to decide between the Hannigan or Motor Trike. Please give me opinions. I dont know which sales person to believe.
  5. hi guys (i do hope you know i mean aussie and kiwi in the nicest way possible!) I am taking an Alternative Energy class as part of one of my degrees, and i've been assigned a research paper on australian and new zealand "green" building pratices. I'm not familar with the subject, so i felt that in the course of my research, it would just make sense to see what, if any experence any of you might have with "green" construction past or present in your country, as well as your opinions on it. I feel it is important to show both sides of a subject, just because it's good for the enviroment doesn't mean that it doesn't cause problems or get under your skin so to speak. So, I ask if any of you would be so kind, to share your experence, information, and opinions on the subject. i'd also have to ask permission to list you as a resource in the papers list of sources, and if you wanted, i could send you a copy of the report. thanks in advance any and all who respond, and thanks for your time! - Jared
  6. I have a set of passing lights on order for my 2009 Venture, but now I am having second thoughts about installing them. Yes, I know they are safer and make night driving better, but it also means just ANOTHER mod added to the electrical system and another thing to go wrong. So, I'm interested in opinions from BOTH those that have passing lights and those that decided against installing passing lights. Do you feel they enhance the look of the bike or detract away from it? Thanks...I am really on the fence about this one. Wally
  7. Well it’s official, I went for my first ride tonight on a 165/80/15 Kumho PowerStar and I was not disappointed. It was just a short run (about 60 mi.) on familiar roads so as to compare the handling. The tire was pressured up to 40psi with 2oz of Dino Beads... it felt great. I bought the tire from the good folks up at ‘OK Tire’ in Stony Creek Ontario for $75. CDN Installed (I brought in the wheel off the bike). They had a bit of a time seating the tire to the rim and had to use an air-blaster to make it catch but said that they’ve had tougher jobs. I’m not sure how much pressure it took to seat the bead but it was up there. They’re great people to deal with and said they would do it again. They did a great job and I give them two thumbs up! Thanks to all those who have posted their comments and opinions (pro’s & con’s) on CT’s, it has all been interesting reading. I value all your opinions and have been reading with interest for well over a year. Now if I can only find an economical way to make it a White Wall, I like what 'eagleeye' has done with his tire!
  8. The wife and I are thinking about a road trip to northern NM for a September get away. We are planning stops in Toas and Santa Fe, then maybe heading north to Pagosa Springs CO. If anyone has a favorite road, restaurant, town or hotel we would love to hear your advise or opinions. We will have five or six days to just explore the area and take in all the wonderful scenery.
  9. Anybody in New England know of a store that carries a good line of Helmets? I 'm a tough fit and really hate trying to buy a helmet thru the mail. The Dealers in this area don't carry much selection. I would be willing to drive a distance for a good selection. Prefferred area... Anywhere in Southern NH, Western Ma, Northern CT. Next... Any opinions on a nice comfortable helmet? Something that has room for the Headsets? Like to keep costs under $200.00 if I can. Thank you
  10. How many use torque wrenches for routine maintenance and who tightens until it is "about right"? I realize that proper torque is absolutely critical for some applications. Do you use more than one wrench (i.e. low range 1/4 or 3/8 plus high range- usually 1/2")? What type of torque wrench do you use (i.e. "clicker")? I have heard it mentioned that the torque specification (by Yamaha) for the axles are too high. For instance on the Roadstar, I believe that 110 ft.lb is recommended for the rear wheel while the general concensus is that 80 or so is sufficient. Any opinions for the RSV? In the past, I have generally borrowed a torque wrench to use only for things I consider to be critical but I am thinking about buying a couple of new ones to cover the necessary ranges. (I have used the "about right" method for most stuff) Thought I would solicit some opinions. I am not into major stuff - I would leave an engine teardown to someone who knows more than I do - but I prefer to do everything I can. Thanks Ross
  11. just kicking the idea around for wet weather gear and was looking for opinions. I know how varied the opinions on this site are, but still willing to risk it. AS I dont have any gear with body armor yet I am thinking of getting a 3 season jacket and pants set with body armor. Either that or use Frogg toggs over my leather gear that I presently own. Chaps and jacket no armor. All opinions are welcome as my mind isn't made up yet. Thanks for any input in advance. David
  12. OK guys this is my first thread forgive me if I do it wrong. I want to know your opinions on down shifting when slowing down, basically using the engine as a brake. I have done this for years and never had any problems or caused any damage to my bikes that I know of. I had a friend tell me the other day that he wouldn't do that to his bike. When I do this I don't over-rev the engine, so I don't see the problem. Is it too much on the tranee? I appreciate and respect your opinions and thank you in advance. Carl:Venture:
  13. I was curious of others thoughts. I used to change tires on my old HD and never balanced them. Now that I am getting ready to changes the tires on my TD I question to balance or not to balance. I know there has to be a few of you hear with opinions or suggestions. As always thanks in advance for your input. JOHN
  14. Hey all, Anyone run Continental TK 16/17 on their cycles. Opinions, Experiences? John
  15. I am really considering putting a set of drag bars on my bike. I was wondering if anyone has done this or has seen any pics. I welcome all opinions or help that you can provide. I know that the bike is a touring bike, but there isnt any reason I cant look cool.
  16. Anyone ever use one of these? Opinions? http://www.sierra-mc.com/prodimages/imc-ghs45_lg.jpg http://www.sierra-mc.com/proddetail.asp?prod=IMC%2DHS%2DG45U
  17. Would just like to get some feedback on what everyones opinions are on degreasers. Would like something to spray on motor and rinse off!
  18. I Posted Before That I Might Be Taking A Job In Texas I'm Looking At A House In Royse City And Wanted To Know Is This A Good Place To Live? Any Opinions Would Be Great!
  19. Do any of you guys have any experience with different LED drop-in bulb replacements for 1157's? I've read that many of them are less bright than the old incandescents. Any opinions on good ones out there for an 87 VR? Thanks, Jeremy
  20. Actually....let's NOT talk politics. Here's the thing folks. I know that as we get closer and closer to the primaries and then the general election, it will get harder and harder to not get into political discussions here. I'm sorry folks, I just can't let that happen. Here is why. IT MAKES ME MAD That is the truth of the matter. I know that some of you really enjoy debating the virtues, or lack thereof, of the various candidates, issues, etc. I also know that most of us feel very strongly about our positions on these things. I can assure you that I am no exception. I am VERY political. I've actually written to my representatives about 25 times during the past 12 months alone. How many of you have taken the time to do that? I have strong opinions, I get very angry with some of the decisions made by those who are SUPPOSED to be representing the people and I make my voice heard loud and often. It does very little good but that along with voting is all that I am able to do. We can debate these issue here until the end of time and it will NOT change a thing. My political leanings are a result of things that I have seen and experienced during my 52 years on this earth. I am smart enough to read, research, investigate and form my own opinions about the issues. If I told each one of you that you could post 100 pages of political commentary and opinion, there is not a single one of you who could change my mind about what I believe and how I will cast my votes. As I said, my political beliefs are based upon my life happenings, not anything that I've heard from a politician, friend, news personality or anybody else. I think that most people are the same way. That being the case, what is there to gain by venting our anger, frustration, opinions here? I try to be very fair in the way that I run this site. I know that we have people that are Republicans, Democrats, Independents. I know that we have people of various races, religions, socio economic standings. We have people from various countries and cultures. We are NOT going to agree on politics and we are NOT going to persuade anybody else to think the same way that we do with the words that we can write here. I'll be honest with you about something else. If we start discussing politics here and I get involved, some of you are not going to like what I have to say. Whether I'm to the left or to the right, there are going to be some of you who lean the other way and there are going to be feelings hurt. I would much rather have as many of you as possible as friends....friendship based upon the thing that brings us together as a group... a club...a family. I am only human and as much as I try to be tolerant of those whom have opinions that differ from my own, I am not strong enough to always separate it. I do have close friends from different political parties and for the most part, I do respect them. I will also stand beside them and fight for their right to have those differing opinions. The truth is though, there are some specific issues that I just cannot understand how people can feel the way that they do. For that reason, I choose to NOT discuss political issues with most people because it could very well result in my loosing some respect for them and them for me. So that is the way that I feel. That is why we will continue to keep politics to a minimum here and I hope that you will all work with me to see that this rule is followed. If this site ever DOES turn political, I can promise you that it will be in support of MY political views and some of you wouldn't care for that at all.
  21. Has anyone here tried these on a RSV or seen them in person and have an opinion whether they would be worth a try or not? Thanks in advance for your opinions. http://www.dragspecialties.com/fatbook/23/287/3871795 Todd
  22. Hello everyone. Got to know that I am going to make the right purchase. I am looking at LED tail light by Radiantz for $60 at http://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm However at http://motoled.com/shop.html they talk as if that light is not bright enough and they sell the High Flux LEDS for $130.00 that are supposed to be so much brighter. Now maybe they are brighter, however are the Radiantz bright enough? Must say that I really like the lens cover at Motoled. Clear front with red sides. I think that is sharp looking and you can't see the board through the sides. Anyway, also wondering about the turn signals from Radiantz compared to the ones at Motoled. I don't think there are many of you that have had both brands to really compare, however there are a lot of you that have bought the Radiantz and some that may have the Motoled. Do you find that the tail and signal lights are bright enough? Are they brighter than stock? Motoled claims that super bright LEDs are NOT as bright as stock. Of course they may be bias. They do have photo comparisons at the bottom of that page at Motoled. Really looking forward to your opinions. I would like to see a few replies to get different opinions. Thanks guys/gals
  23. When I bought my 07 RSV in August, I received a one year membership to Star Touring. I have been all over their website and see absolutely nothing there that is worth paying annual dues for. I would rather make a donation here every year. There is no star touring chapter near me. I know I get unbiased opinions here. Not so sure about an "official" site. Does anyone have any good reason (aside from a cool pin) why one would want to pay a fee to be a member of Star Touring?
  24. Hello all, Hey i'm looking for a little help here. I placed a bid on what is suppose to be a seat for a 2nd gen RS. And now the seller has posted a note stating that he's not sure is it in fact fits a RoyalStar. Please, if you have an early model 2nd Gen-RS 97-2001'ish, could you please take a look at the ebay link and post any opinions [pertaining to the seat, not other various short comings that my ail you ] FYI...not that i want to replace my Corbin saddle - i love it. i would just like to have the oem set on had too. Thanks in advance. Ron
  25. Hi All: Sometimes it takes meeting some good people to make a final decision on what to do about a given situation. I have been out to a Meet and Eat in my Backyard and met some really great people. I have listened to a lot of opinions and had a lot of discussion about Yamaha and my bike Crickett. I have been doing this and saying this.....most likely coming to a decision myself. Bottom line is Yes I like the Venture Motorcycle, put all its good points on one side......put its bad ones on the other side......it comes out a winner, please forgive me......I have struggled to come to this decision myself. All of you know some about this Clutch Basket Chirp, some of you know exactly what it is as you have it......and are also tired of the Screech........I suppose that is the correct term to use.....A screech with a built in Crickett. So this evening when I get back from taking Miss Brown Eyes on her Sunday Afternoon ride....I am going to compose a letter directly to Yamaha......this coming week I will follow up ahead of time and after it with several important phone calls. I am going to listen to the opinions I also agree with. I like the Venture.....I like the people who ride them......I think it would be wrong of me to walk away from this issue.......one or two of them think I have the intelligence and determination to fight the good fight.......I will have to talk to myself and make myself behave a bit.........but we are going to try. I need your help......all of you........if you have this situation or know of it......or can add your voice to this , I really could use your help. I only ask that we all put our opinions about where the Venture is going.....how they may change it.. ON HOLD IN LETTERS TO YAMAHA. and above all do not say anything bad about any dealer......we know they are bad.......just that we should not say this. I am going to ask Yamaha to assign me a Dealer.....to work with me......to get this issue resolved and try to do this in a nice and friendly and intelligent manner. It may take awhile......okay.......I have the time. My latest word from my new dealer relationship was that they would change my clutch basket one time.....let me ride it..if I liked the sound, that would be fine, if I did not, they would re-install the original basket. I do not accept this at this point, I want it properly taken care of. If it takes half a dozen baskets.....several drive shafts and a couple universals to accomplish this.....this is the goal. I wish to bypass the dealerships at this point.....go right on up the ladder, and let Yamaha get involved and resolve this. I will state in my letter to them......you in management need to become aware of our situation.....our opinions on this......we like Yamaha products and some of us can be great field reps for your products.....you need to be aware of our serious intent of this issue. I am sure they are aware of this site already.....I am not sure how much attention management pays to it....but I will bring it to their attention. I wish to stress......do not run down the dealers....lets be nice....if an answer cannot be obtained from one source , we will bypass them, and go to the next one in the line. Who knows we might actually win a battle or two, and it can only help all of us who have this situation. I know that sometimes on this forum......there are a lot more visitors than members....people looking for information.....this is how I found it. So people are watching. I am done with changing my mind.....saying stupid things....flitting around like a mosquito.........I am going to hang in there and fight the good fight.......after meeting some of the people involved in all this this weekend, I think I owe it to them , and myself. Respectfully Kit See I can be serious as can be when I want to be.....I have finally got my own mind wrapped around this situation, wish me luck...help me if you can.
