  1. Good Morning everybody - What an experience, all inclusive vacation, got here yesterday and have done nothing but relax and let people wait on us. we've got a fishing trip planned and hopefully I'll luck into a sailfish or at minimum a nice tuna. I'm happy I don't have the Venture 'cause I'd want to go riding and that could turn sour real quick. gonna be hard to leave next week.
  2. Did all the pre-op check up today, and in to hospital in the morning (Thursday) to have fixator off leg. :dancefool:So won't be in here for a few days --but will be back with you all A.S.A.P.
  3. I'm here in Lubbock and just wondering if anyone in the 'Panhandle' or from anywhere, say, northwest of Mckinny, TX is going to be headed down there this weekend and wants to meet up and ride down there together? If no one wants to tag a long, my plan will be to leave before the first sparrow's fart in the morning from Lubbock to get to GW's sometime between noon and 2, stay the night somewhere nearby, then ride back to Lubbock in the morning. Although, I may end up taking off for Nashville in the morning too - I haven't made up my mind yet. Anyhoot, let me know if you are planning on riding down, I'd love some company!
  4. NOT!!!!! This is what we got when we woke up this morning forecast 6 inches of snow
  5. Folks...I'm in Cannon Falls, MN this week at our semi-annual sales meeting. LONG days this time. Then they took my laptop for the past two days to do some upgrades with the software so I've been unable to even get online until tonight since early Wednesday morning. Sorry if I have missed any questions here or via email. I'm working through about 1500 emails right now but if you have emailed me and I don't answer within the next day or two, please try again. Headed back home tomorrow night and am READY.
  6. In 44 hours I will be hitting the road to visit Texas for the first time on the bike. I have ridden through it a couple times, hence, coloring the state on my travel map. However, never have I actually ridden around the state to see what it has to offer. Wheels up is scheduled at the end of the work day Friday (OK, hoping to hit the road by 2:00 - but don't tell the boss - especially you Scooter Bob 'cause you know who the boss is). I will be heading from Fond du Lac in the most expeditious manor with expectations of arriving in Keller, TX (in the DFW metroplex) by 6 or 7 am Saturday morning. If you see a red Venture parked in a rest area in the wee morning hours, don't wake the guy on the picnic table with the helmet on. Upon arriving to my brother's house in Keller, I will greet my Bro, his wife and kids, my Dad, and his friend Tom. Dad and Tom are taking 2 days to ride down from Ft. Wayne, IN arriving Friday night. After the greeting, sleeping for 3 or 4 hours will be high on the agenda. Dad, Tom, Scott (the Bro), and I will take off Saturday at about noon heading to San Antonio with a quick stop for a picture in front of W's ranch in Crawford. Should get to SA about 6:00 pm. I will try to call BuddyRich to join us for a beverage down on the Riverwalk Saturday night. Any one else in the neighborhood is also welcome. We are staying at the Crockett Hotel across the street from the Alamo. A tour of the Alamo on Sunday morning and we are off for the hill country. Reservations are made for 2 nights in Leaky. We are all looking forward to riding the twisted sisters and other roads of the hill country. Have heard lots about it. Tuesday morning, Scott will be heading back to Keller (not enough vacation) and Dad, Tom, and I will be heading to Big Bend National Park. We will be riding around there for 2 days until Thursday morning. Staying in a cabin just outside the park in an old ghost town (at least that's how it is billed). Thursday morning, Dad and Tom are heading back north. They generally only ride 500 miles or so a day, so they want to take some extra time to get home. However, that leaves me with 4 days to get to Wisconsin and only being 1 really long day away. HeeHeeHee. Where to go??? Thursday I don't really have any plans. Suggestions?? Friday, I figured heading over to Squidley and Sweetnothing's (if they will have me a bit early) and give them a hand setting up for the open house. I'm not very useful at anything other than making sure the beer is cold; however, I can be coached. Come Saturday, I look forward to greating the wonderful VR folks from down south that arrive to share Brad and Lonna's joy of a new start in Texas. Will need to hit the road about noon to get home at a decent hour on Sunday. I will try to keep this trip thread updated and to add some pics as internet access and time will allow. Give us a wave if you see us passing by. A red Venture, red BMW R1200GS, black Honda Shadow Aero 1100, and some other kind of BMW (don't know exactly what Tom rides). Should be a great week. 5000 miles, 9 days, traveling with family, meeting new friends. What could be better. RR
  7. Didn't make Big Tom's ride becaues Becky had a Ladie's Tea at church so instead I got the lawnmower out to get it ready for the season. Wanted to replace the drive belt as it was slipping last year. While the oil was draining I removed my gas tank and installed the new bib that came in the mail that morning. After looking all over town for a new belt, morning turned to afternoon and Becky came home, and one of our newet members, Joe Neamon, called to find out if we wanted to ride someplace and I said sure, I have to go to Sears about 26 miles away. They live in the next town over, about 5 - 10 minutes away, and as we wer e waiting another new member Tom who lives 2 doors down drove past with his GF Amy and I told him gear up, Joe is on the way over and he told me he knew, he just saw Joe on the way over. A few minutes later, another neighbor 2 more doors down stoped and I asked him if he wanted to ride with us. He has a really nice Harley softtail he keeps immaculate, and in the 5 years he has had it, we have never ridden together. It's always some thing or another. Anyway, Jerry joins us sans wife who is busy, and off to Hamburg we go! Wonderful ride in, absolutely no rain! That morning Jerry had been in the area we went for an ABATE ride and ended up getting drenched (and got his shiny bike dirty)!! Horray, Sears had the belt we needed. In the mean time, Joe and Kathy hadn't had their lunch and it was going on 4:00 so we decide to head to East Aurora for a meal. Great food, great fellowship! Well, naturally we have to have ice cream, so back to Arcade to Delightfuls for ice cream. The weather is still summer like and none of us feel like calling it a night except Jrry who had to get home to wife, sooo, off to Ellicottville for coffee!! Stayed there for a while, it was already dark, so I guess it's time to finally call it a day. Now if Joe hadn't needed to go to work this morning, we may have went to Cleveland for breakfast...
  8. Anyone in south georgia going? I would like to hook up with someone and ride down saturday morning.
  9. RandyR picked up his 2000 MM yesterday and rode up to my place. We did some work on his new ride and my bike - went for a couple of short rides - got wet. Due to the weather he spent the night - but got on the road this morning heading back to Georgia. He's bound to get wet today but should avoid the storms. It was great to meet Randy and to spend some time. He got a great deal on his bike. Keep him in your prayers as he makes the long trip home today.
  10. Now that I am back in VA, it sure is depressing looking outside and my Midnite RSV ain't sitting there. I sure do miss that bike! I only had her for 7 months but man we had some good times! RIP my black beauty!!!! http://hphotos-sjc1.fbcdn.net/hs494.snc3/26972_1362195648803_1048940196_31078560_6669339_n.jpg Taken 2 hours before the accident on 3/27. She sure was looking and running good that morning. Just the day before I had ridden her from Washington DC to Myrtle Beach, SC and just topped 10K miles. She was so young!!!!:crying::crying::crying::crying: Ben

  12. Just checked in to the Best Western Room 128. Nice room for the price! We will be here until Tuesday morning then on to Nashville for a couple of days then back here Thursday evening. Meeting up with B2DAD tomorrow morning at Hannigans. Got a lousy 10mpg towing the trailer but we got here safe and sound!!
  13. I plan on leaving Wednesday Morning, and heading south through IL. I hope to meet DynoDon for lunch, and stay somewhere south of Champaign by dark that night. Hope to get somewhere near Memphis by Thursday night, and get to the Loozeeaner Meet and Wrench by Friday night. We'll see how the :snow:weather cooperates:cold:. If I fall a little short, I've got an offer from wes0778 to stay in Jackson, and head to the M&W Saturday morning. After the M&W, I want to get to Cocoa Beach by Monday night to see a Delta IV rocket launch. Tuesday I'll head up to Daytona to buy a t-shirt that says I was there and probably go camp out at the ABATE campground. From there I hope to head up the east coast for a few more states I've never been in, and head home from there. Anyone else on here go to Bike Week??? I'll be updating this thread as things progress. Later, Scooter Bob Oh ya, I've got to swing by Milwaukee and pick up Shari along the way.
  14. OK here's the agenda so far. We are leaving on the 27th around noon give or take. We are meeting up with Dingy in Madison Ohio sometime late afternon to exchange a couple of parts and some convewrsation/refreshments at exit 169 (or was it 167?) I think. We want to make it to at least Cincinatti that day. ATTN: Yama Mama, maybe meet up with you and Ron for a bit?? Sunday we plan on getting to Murray Ky. by early evening at the Best Western Hotel near the airport. Drop off Sexi Monday morning and are available for free time with any members in the area. This includes Monty, B2Dad and Mom plus a few other members close by I think. Want to see Monte's new scoot!! I'm leaving it up to Monte to work out the details, late dinner on Sunday is also an option. We check out of the Best Western Tuesday morning and are on our way to Nashville for 2 days. Staying at a Hampton for two nites, can't remember which one but will supply the info later. Anybody in the area there?? Lets meet up!! Thursday night back to the same Best Western, and pick up Sexi Friday after the surgery. Can't wait!!! Head back Friday evening, destination??? Travel the rest of the way home Saturday just in time for Easter Sunday and family over for dinner. Want to see the Corvette Museum and assembly plant in Bowling Green some time during the week as well if possible, but not a "have to do" event. We can always do it some other time in a couple of years. Input??
  15. First of all, with Riderduke's help, I threw a surprise birthday party for George last Friday! Everyone showed up at Texas Roadhouse here in Columbia on Friday afternoon and George was VERY surprised when he and I got there and he started recognizing our VR family! Already there were Riderduke, Mini-Muffin, Beer30, Sledgehammer, Venturing Sole, Pecker, Bugfish69, Ladybug, Painterman and Laura and Wanderer. Then in a few minutes, Blackjack, 86er and Eck came in! After dinner, Blackjack, 86er and Eck headed back to George and Alabama (they made the trip just for dinner!) and everyone else came to our house and spent Friday night and Saturday night! We all stayed up late playing Wii games! I cooked breakfast Saturday morning and after a leisurely morning, we rode to Lake Wateree. Sledgehammer needed to get back home so he left. After lunch at our favorite marina, we headed back to Columbia via DQ and a stop at Auto Zone for a couple of bike maintenance projects. There was a store next door for "spirits". We got home and the guys worked on the bikes and solved the world's ills at the same time! I had put some chicken catetori in the crock pot and with garlic toast and salad, supper was ready! After watching the movie GI Joe The Rise of Cobra, much to Riderduke's delight, everyone was ready to crash! Getting up early was in the works for this morning so we rode over to Lizard's Thicket and ate breakfast. Sleeperhawk and I rode up with the group as far as Lumberton, North Carolina, said our goodbyes and headed home! We had such a blast all weekend! I cannot tell you how much Sleeperhawk enjoyed this surprise and what a delightful time we had with our VR family! So many thanks to everyone for making this happen and keeping it a surprise! And the reason for the title of this post is that Riderduke has discovered the beginnings of his "Hair-him". Pictures are worth a thousand words, but I must add that the last picture is a result of the "morning after"! Sleeperhawk has posted the rest of the pictures in the Picture Folder!
  16. How's Taters doing this morning???
  17. After school me and a friend tried moving all of the ice off of my street so i can get the bike out. Well after having dad's other cop over to help, he decided to park in the middle of the street and drip fresh ice right on it! Haha, oh i love life I also have to get up at 4 this morning :97:to sand, bath at 6, school at 7, work at 5, more sanding at 10. It should be a good day tomorrow!
  18. My neighbour across the street had to put away his Bernese Mountain Dog (cancer)..Every Morning Jasper would be sitting there waiting for his morning threat from me:crying::crying: He sure is going to be missed by me
  19. Came home from work tonight...Casey our 13 year old beagle greeted me as usual then went to lay down on her blanket.....a few minutes later she gives out a moan and suffers a heart attack...this hound followed Taters around like a chick follows a mother hen...Taters is devistated...this was the only hound that perfered staying behind with taters than run with the pack...carried the old girl up the stairs at night and down each morning for the last 6 months...I built her a handicamp ramp to go outside so she didn't have to climb the stairs...( she hurt her shoulder a year ago and we didn't want her to reinjure it again. At bed time when the lights were shut off she would not leave taters side till taters went up first , then she would lay at the bottom of the stairs and complain if I didn't move fast enough for her....each morning when taters alarm went off ,she will bellow next to the bed to make sure taters woke up with the alarm....I would have to get up and carry her down to be with taters and I would go back upstairs untill my alarm would go off an hour later....Boy did she have us trained...Casey was the last of a pack of 7 beagles we kept in our house...yes, I said house...never a dull moment...Casey was given to me as a pup by a dear friend who was dying of cancer and wanted to make sure she would be cared for...casey will be missed... thanks for letting me share my feelings with you all... ps. I'm gonna miss her asking for a ROOOOOOLLL.
  20. Friday morning 6AM I am having surgery.Wish me luck.
  21. I'm sittin here about 100 miles south of you enjoying another %$#@* blizzard, wondering how I'm going to get back up my long driveway when I get home from work tonight, cuz the hubby's been plowing the county roads since 3 a.m. this morning. At least in Minnesota, you've got trees....down here in North Iowa it's just frozen fields, with no protection from this miserable stuff. Thought we both might enjoy dreamin' of being here....http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:FCOvDWJCi29TAM:http://ic2.pbase.com/u43/renobguy/large/40617479.IMG_1876.jpgNow where's my Pina Colada?
  22. here are a few pics of today's M&E @ Speedy's Bar b que. thanks margaret for putting this together, it was nice to meet some of the VR family. look closely and you will see beer30 presenting riderduke with a pink shirt with 'stud muffin' on the back of shirt. the closeup of the good looking couple (lol) is me & wife. the black rstd is my bike this morning before heading out to the M&E.....i believe beer30 & riderduke also rode in. had a great time and looking forward to riding with a few of the member i met today. buz http://i50.tinypic.com/2iaxxft.jpg http://i45.tinypic.com/25p5umo.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/10s821t.jpg http://i50.tinypic.com/4vn4zp.jpg http://i47.tinypic.com/vh4a4y.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/2j5x7gm.jpg
  23. It is 17 degrees here is south georgia and I rode my bike to work. The post man just delivered the mail and said when he was in germany he rode his bike in the snow but I was crazy riding in this weather. He said with the wind chill it is probably 0. I rode it this morining just to show people I can. Did any of you ride this morning?
  24. Well we did the Iron Butt in Newnan Ga, Saturday, got to meet Ted but missed him the next morning at the start, We did not get to the starting point until 0530. Guess he had went on. Well anyway it was a wet ride, through the mountains in NC we got soaked. Had some electrical problem with My RSV, starter silenoid. but got through the ride. Made it back the start point about 0300 Sunday morning. Yep took us 21 hours, but we stopped and ate in Nashville TN. The weather cleared just as we went through knoxville and was Good from there back to Newnan. I told the guys that put it on " I think I have a candy a-- instead of a Iron butt" The pillow top is ok, but it sucks after about 600 miles. Gregg
