  2. Happy Fourth of July everyone. I am spending mine lowering my bike and installing the new seats modified by Rick Butler. Quick question. Thom and I separated the front fairings on my 2000 Venture. In order to continue lowering the front, does anyone know the steering nut size? That is the large nut in the center of the triple tree assembly. Thanks for in advance for the your input. Mike Corpus Christi, Texas
  3. Has any one ever put a lowering kit on a Venture?? If so does it handle different? I would like to lower the back 1". I have only found a kit for 1.5". I could handle that But don,t Know how it will handle & would it be hard on the drive shaft? any input welcome. My long legs with only 29" inseam would like it just a little lower.
  4. I am removing the Baron Lowering kit caliper relocation bracket but I need a stock one to replace it with. Anybody got one laying around that they would part with? The previous owner doesn't have it. He had removed the lowering links already and now all I need is to change out the bracket.
  5. JUST WANTED TO SAY THANKS TO ALL FOR THE HELP, INFORMATION AND PARTS GOT MY LOWERING KIT REMOVED LAST NIGHT AND RETURNED IT TO STOCK HEIGHT WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!! FEELS LIKE I BOUGHT A DIFFERENT BIKE ALL TOGETHER THE HANDLING IS MUCH MUCH BETTER. FEET AND LEGS FEEL ALOT BETTER BEING, 6'6" THAT LOWERING KIT WAS HARD ON THE LEGS AT THE STOPS FELT WAY TO LOW ITS PERFECT NOW!!! GONNA HAVE TO GET OUT THE WEEKEND AND GET ALOT OF SADDLE TIME THANKS AGAIN TO ALL
  6. I don't need help lowering front end, thanks to Freebird's write up, I already lowered it 1" and think it's great. In fact I like it so much that I am thinking of lowering it another 1/2". So my question is has anyone out there lowered yours 1" and then decided to lower it more, and if so what was your opinion. Is it worth the extra work?
  7. As we all know life has a way of throwing curve balls. Mine came in the form of a daughter starting in college, moving to a new location, wife has a degenerative back issue. I'm not complaining, because I truly am blessed beyond what I deserve. That being said, I have a 2006 Black Cherry Venture for sale. This bike is in great shape, only 7500 miles mostly highway. It has a lowering kit (because i'm only 5'7" i felt more comfortable lowering it), luggage rack for the trunk. Misc add ons. New tire at 5000 miles. Kelly Blue Book says it worth 11,500. Brad and Lona saw my wife and I after we bought the bike new. We were on our way to Colorado. We ran into them in Lusk WY and then again a few weeks later in Worthington MN. I put less than 500 miles on the bike this year, it just isn't getting used. I'm looking for a fair offer. I live in Worthington, MN (SW corner of the state) Thanks for reading. Bob bobnlaurie
  8. Hello everyone, I am new here. My name is Amy, and I own a 2007 RSTD, and my hubby (Jerry) owns a 2008 RSTD. I am only 5'1" and hubby is 6'7". I need to lower my bike. I have already lowered my rear end, and am going to be lowering my front. I need to know if there is any new side stands I can order or if I need to have mine modified. Also if I need to modify how much should be taken off? I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you. Amy
  9. WWW.RACE-TECH.COM has a front lowering kit for 1st gens. Has anyone done it yet, will lower 1 in.
  10. I've read all of the threads and don't see anything about lowering the front of a 05 RSTD. (everthing has to do with the VR) Not the same set up. The air valve is very close to the handlebars and I don't see how I could slide the tubes up without handlebar risers. I know that barons sells a kit, but too much $ for me. Has anyone done this? If so, do you have any pics of the process? Steve

  12. I Lowered the rear of my bike using the Baron's kit and it did make a difference on my seat height and at higher speeds the bike handles good, but I noticed at slow speeds, the bike gets swirly. My question is, has anyone lowered the front too and if you did, was slow speed handling better? Also, with the rear lowering kit I have to be careful where I park to make sure the bike does not fall over. I'm sure by lowering the front too I will have to modify the sidestand. Please advise.
  13. Can anyone dirrect me to the tech tip on lowering the front end of RSV please. I have looked in the tech tips but did not find it. My bosses legs are to short so he wants to lower it. Thanks
  14. Has anybody installed the performance front lowering kit from Baron. It's a complete set with springs, valve emulators etc? If so, is there much work/money involved? Should this work be left to a dealer/bike shop? And, was there a considerable improvement in ride, handling etc? Thanks, chachi
  15. I have an arthritic shoulder and I'm thinking of lowering the bars on my RSV as much as possible to reduce some of the irritation I seem to have when riding. I know how to do it as I did it on my V*. Anyone done this and is there any reason NOT to do it? Thanks, Jay
  16. Need opinions on which lowering kit works best. I would like to lower seat about 1 1/4". I'm 5'7".
  17. I am thinking about going ahead and ordering the baron's lowering kit. My question is did you notice a change in travel? Did the bike bottom out? Are you dragging hard parts in the curves? I think I would really like the looks of the bike with this kit and sliding the forks in the trees. Height for me really isn't the issue, it's looks, but I want to know the draw backs before I do it. Thanks.
  18. Ok here it goes i am looking at getting a stebel natulis horn for my rsv. Any suggestion on where the best price might be?? Also has anyone had any problems with one? Also the barrons lowering kit ...does it change the handleing at all good or bad, at 5'7" i could use about an inch closer to the ground and dont want to mod the seat cause its really comfy...
  19. Well I have been thinking about buying a full touring bike and the venture had my attention till I sat on it. I'm just 5'8" so I was up on the balls of my feet which is not going to work. Any lowering ideas out there?
  20. I recently bought the Barons lowering kit and planned on lowering the bike. Since i had to do other things also I started with the front. thanks to the directions in the tech library I was able to lower the front fairly quickly. Now the question. With the front lowered one inch the bike now sits perfectly level. If I install the baron's kit won't that put the back end 1.5 inches lower and throw off the way it sits again? Has anyone lowered just the front? I was lowering it for looks only but now that it sits level I'm thinking that I just cured the slow speed instability problem and I'm not sure if I want to upset it again. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
  21. I remember someone here selling the lowering bracket for 2nd gen passing lights for easier fairing removal. Now I cant seem to find any info on them. Are they still being sold, or does anyone have one they want to sell?
