1. It is winter and I'm still hearing a whining noise! Oh, that's these people in Iowa who are whining about all the snow we have this year!
2. I'm sittin here about 100 miles south of you enjoying another %$#@* blizzard, wondering how I'm going to get back up my long driveway when I get home from work tonight, cuz the hubby's been plowing the county roads since 3 a.m. this morning. At least in Minnesota, you've got trees....down here in North Iowa it's just frozen fields, with no protection from this miserable stuff. Thought we both might enjoy dreamin' of being here....http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:FCOvDWJCi29TAM:http://ic2.pbase.com/u43/renobguy/large/40617479.IMG_1876.jpgNow where's my Pina Colada?
3. EDIT: Ok. Just found out this is a computer graphic thing with Snopes verifying. Oh well. Looked pretty damn neat. You have got to watch this. I am simply awe struck at what these people did. I'm no musician yet this has floored me. Turn your sound on for this. Read this first, then watch. This is almost unbelievable. See how all of the balls wind up in catcher cones. This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort between the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick School of Engineering at the University of Iowa .. Amazingly, 97% of the machines components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft , Iowa ...Yes, farm equipment! It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment, calibration, and tuning before filming this video but as you can see it was WELL worth the effort. It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to the Smithsonian. 4. I saw a Black Venture "2nd gen" heading east on hi-way # 92 out of Oskaloosa, Iowa November 1st at 1:40pm. Anyone from here? I was in the cage, been pheasant hunting.:bawling:The long guns stick off the trunk of the RSV to far and look funny. Plus the little woman says I can't turn her saddle bag into a game bag. Bryan
5. This morning it sure feels like fall. I was wondering if there were any plans for a ride in Iowa ? Wife and I are thinking about a trip into southern Iowa to see the fall colors, and stop at a festival if we can find one.
6. I hope someone here gets this bike. Item # 180399997116 Wow. Iowa Guy
7. My wife and I went to a Peace Corps Reunion in SE MN. Wonderful ride up the Iowa side of The Great River Road then split off on hiway 52. Anyway, I took some pictures at the reunion of folks and mine was the only camera that took the group shot at the end before anyone left. We had a great ride back through Central Iowa on blacktops. On the north side of Oelwein we stopped to make a phone call. I had to get a # out of my camera bag and then we took off. Just after we cleared the city limits on the south side of town, I saw this biker in a beard on an HD gaining on me fast. (I don't hurry when my wife is with me.) He pulled up beside me and frantically motioned for me to get over. I wondered how this one was going to turn out. After we'd stopped, the first thing he said was "Did you lose something?" and then it hit me. I'd laid my camera bag on the trailer at our last stop. He had seen it on the ground, looked around and saw us disappearing in the distance, stopped to pick it up then raced to catch us clear through town. He is from Independence just north of Oelwein and was out for a ride. We talked and he said that he had broke his neck after hitting loose gravel on a corner a few years ago. Wow, I thought, then he risked a broken neck again to get our camera back to us. My wife says we were visited by an angel. I agreed. Hope she doesn't want me to buy a harley now. Thanks again Harley Angel. You're a GOOD Iowa Guy. Iowa Guy
8. I finally got around to putting on the Mac Mufflers. They look good and sound too good. The spacing at the front clamp is too loose. Mac is too big and/or male bike pipe is too small. (please, no comments) What is the best way to rectify this? I'm sure it is simple if you know what you are doing. And that is the reason I am asking. Iowa Guy
9. There will be more to Follow I am sure. This is all I had. Lots of pics taken though what A wonderful time it was! The First few were at the Casino getting ready to go. The rest were at Ducky's

11. Anyone know where I can get the chrome strips that fit on the outside edge of the front fairing on the first gen just below the mirrors? What is the official name for them? More chrome! More chrome! Iowa Guy
12. My wife noticed some writing on the back of the backrest yesterday as we headed out for a Sunday ride. Anybody else have this on their backrest? "WARNING This backrest is for solo riding only!" So, whats up with that? Is this just a CYA or should I be taking it off everytime she gets on? Iowa Guy

14. My son's moped does not seem to be using any oil. It is a 2003 Derby that has a seperate oil tank and then is supposed to mix the oil and gas automatically but the oil never needs to be filled. Sounds to me like this could be a problem eventually. What should I check first with this? Iowa Guy
15. How do I pull up posts by specific people. Can't seem to figure this out since I was a week ago. Iowa Guy:confused24:
16. Has anyone heard from Courtney. She hasn't been back on the site since she left for Mexico. Maybe she decided just to stay there until the wether in Iowa warms up......
17. I am considering electrifying my liner that I have with my leather jacket. Anyone have experience with this product? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wiring-Kit-for-Heated-Clothing-Vest-Jacket-garment-WP_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6750QQihZ010QQitemZ200161207116QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Iowa Guy
18. MOTORCYCLE SAFETY FORUM TO BE HELD ON MARCH 9 The Iowa Department of Transportation issued the following news release: Registration is now being accepted for the Fourth Annual Motorcycle Safety Forum. The Iowa Safety Management System (SMS), a diverse partnership of highway safety practitioners in engineering, enforcement, education, and emergency services, is facilitating the event March 9 at the Sheraton West Des Moines, 1800 - 50 th Street, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The forum brings together stakeholders including the Iowa Motorcycle Rider Education Program, the Iowa departments of Transportation and Public Safety, motorcycle enthusiasts, riders, dealers, and associations. Motorcycle fatalities have increased significantly, both in Iowa and nationally, since the late 1990s. Iowa has more than 200,000 licensed motorcycle operators and more than 125,000 registered motorcycles. Last year, preliminary data shows 56 people were killed and 700 were injured in crashes while driving or riding on motorcycles in Iowa. This one-day, interactive, hands-on forum will be highlighted by safety displays in the hotel parking lot, rider training, vendor booths, demonstrations on how to share the road with large trucks, and other motorcycle-related exhibits. Several speakers will share valuable information during the forum. Featured presenter Rick Neilson is a speaker, juggler and humorist who combines his talents to provide a motivational, inspirational and entertaining program. Other topics planned for the forum include a presentation on riding motorcycles from a woman's point of view, demonstration on the proper technique for removing the helmet of a crash victim and how to promote public awareness of motorcycle safety. There is no registration fee for the event, and lunch and breaks will be provided. To get your name on the attendee list, please call Iowa State University Conference Services by phone at 515-294-6222, fax to 515-294-6223 or e-mail via UCS-info@iastate.edu.
