your right about that. i waited 6 months for the speedstar cams for my warrior. i confronted the yamaha guys at the yamaha tent at star days a couple of years ago. i asked them how they got the pictures for the catalog when most of the stuff was'nt even available. i ordered alot of stuff for my vstar this month and it's here already. things are improving.

i'm thinking late 2009 or early 2010. i think they are going after some of the goldwing market. i also think there will be a big advertising gimmick like they did with the star line. yamaha learned alot with the star gimmick. sure has sold a ton of bikes. what ever yammer does it is being kept a careful secret. look for the big splash pretty soon. maybe late summer of 08. mark my words, i think i'm going to be right on this one.

always had a place in my heart for a vmax. bought a new 88 in 1989. they were alot faster than the newer ones. i did do some tweaking on it. not as fast as my zx 14, but it did run pretty good. had more nerve back then, or is it called less sense.lol. i do have some space left to park a new max. just have to wait and see what it looks like in real. sure do like the prototype. as far as a new tourer, i love my v-star 1300. can't handle anything heavier than it is anymore. it's gonna have to do the job for a long time.

according to one of my magazines, a yamaha source said the new vmax is coming. yamaha wants to be sure it is exactly right before it's release. they want to out do the new b-king. i still say the vmax will be the test bed for the engine for the royalstar replacement all new tourer of the future for yamaha. the venture is becoming archaic by todays touring standards, and do to be replaced. look for 1800, v4, aluminum frame, fuel injection, advanced styling, and much more. this is probably why they haven't improved on the rsv. it's just holding over to be replaced by something totally new. thats just my guess.

hey rick, i think we rode up that road last year at my eureka springs meet . lots of 10 mph curves. made the dragon look like childs play. at the top we rode down this gravel road .and you could walk down this trail in the woods to an overlook. don't know where we were ,rusty toys took us up there. does this sound like the place. bill

started riding the bikes again this week. the gas prices are rediculous. cost me $50.00 to fill my ranger truck the other day. i can sure beat them arabs. the truck is going to sit in the garage alot more now that the weather is breaking. it's 58 degrees out there and i'm getting ready for a late night ride to work. makes work alot more enjoyable. this is the nastiest wettest winter we have had since the 70's. it's supposed to rain the next 5 days so i will have to help the arabs again for awhile. summer is just over the horizen. can't wait.

i have a first gear mesh jacket. got the liner and armor out of it. if you buy one get a light color to reflect the heat. i rode from st. louis to blairsville georgia last year 95 plus degrees all the way. they do keep you cool. the one thing you have to do is drink lots of liquid because they will make you sweat and the air coming through the mesh. evaporates the sweat and has a great cooling effect. when allanh and i got to nashville we were begining to dehidrate. i got a little sick untill i drank alot of liquid. brand is'nt that important ,if it is comfortable and good quality. a light color is very important.

well said don, i was almost ready to weaken and think i was wrong arguing and then realized although i have no experience with car tires, i have many years of research and very learned engineers on my side of the fence, namely the people who design and manufacture tires. surely all these manufacturers know more than we do about tires. just never was the backyard mechanic type. always relied on research, common sense, safety, and the intellegience i was given to use sensibly. it's every man to his own opinion, but if some one is wrong like scott told me i was about using car tires on my trailer, i would like to know about it. i learned something i did'nt know on this thread that may save my horses in a horse trailer or what ever i haul on my flat bed,and i thank scott for that. bill
-
hey scott, just curious . why can't you use good car tires on a trailer? i always thought most light trailer tires were just cheap low mileage tires. whats the difference. bill

my take on car tires ,dumb! followed this discussion on another forum. pro's ,they last alot longer. cons, tubless bike rims are a different shape then car rims. some guys said it took close to 100psi to seat the tire then when it pops out on the rim some exploded if they did'nt explode it probably weakened the casting. or over stressed the tire. bad handling, any one who says they handle as good as a bike tire does'nt know much about handling. harder rubber compound ,not as good of traction on wet pavement and not as big a tire patch on the road ,in the curves. there are people who jury rig all kinds of things and get away with it, but that don't mean it's safe or a smart move. i have never had a car tire on a bike and never will. i have better sense than that. it is a chance that people take with no research to back it up. your life is worth alot more than a few hundred dollars saved. just my 2 cents. don't take my word for it talk to a tire design engineer and get an honest opinion. i could almost garrantee what they would say. bill

hey buddy, stay warm and get well. drink lots of hot chocolate.bill

i got rid of the r6 ,i've got a tricked out zx 14 now, that demands alot of respect. it's all decked out for dragracing, got a few goals to reach before i quit riding. did'nt mean for this thread to go off on bikes just had that pic in the file and wanted to see if i could figure out how to down load. i think i got it figured out. ebay here i come. been having to have my brother-in-law list my stuff on ebay.
