How to wire aux fuse block to existing wiring circuit?

How to wire aux fuse block to existing wiring circuit?
SilvrT replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks guys for the info ... fyi, I've already installed the fuse block under the seat and I wired it direct to the battery... just thought it might be better to wire it differently for future purposes ie. adding an amp gauge instead of or in addition to my volts gauge in the cluster. -
How to wire aux fuse block to existing wiring circuit?
SilvrT replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
If I understood the info I read about this, wiring directly to the battery does not allow for proper readings on an ammeter. There IS an article about this somewhere...just can't find it. I have relays installed and nothing comes on without the key being turned on. -
Somewhere, someone posted a method to wire an aux fuse block into the exisiting charging circuit INSTEAD OF directly to the battery so that those aux items connected wouldn't cause a big drain on the battery and also so that if an ammeter was installed, it would show the correct info.... I think it was V7Goose who posted this info but I can't seem to find it.... anyone have the link handy?

BLACK!

This remeinds me of what I told my wife when I introduced her to riding 4 yrs ago (when we were still dating) ... I said .. "going on a trip on a bike has nothing to do with the destination... it has EVERYTHING to do with the ride getting there" ... didn't take her long to understand what I meant.

We got racoons around our place too... they get into the garbage and crap on my back deck! Whenever I see them I chase them away and I spray bleach on the garbage cans and the deck so they will stay out...and they do. Ever seen those sukkahs fight... MAN oh man they are viscious...and they can roar like a flippin lion!

I got one of those jacks everyone uses (like a harbour freight one or a Can Tire one)... my "dumb" question is... what are or is the process of going about getting the bike jacked up. Mine has the foot pedal. What do you do... position it under the bike, sit on the bike, and start pumping it with your foot or what? ... and how do you line it up properly ... I don't have an adapter so was thinking about using hockey pucks (like I've seen suggested somewhere in here).

Tank sticker?
SilvrT replied to Principal's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Use a new, flat-bladed razorblade scraper - NOT! Oftentimes you can if the surface is flat and you keep the angle very low but on the tank, the surface is round and it's very easy to nick the paint. (how do I know this? ) -
if the room cost $25 (not 30) that means each man should have paid $8.33333. Since they only got a dollar returned, they were shortchanged and that's where the "other dollar" is (so to speak). The "reverse" math doesn't add up because of that (you're using 9 instead of 8.33333). something like that

We, in the business, generally have a boot cd with utilities on it to check such things. Not sure I could help you on that from this far away. Using Partition Magic and then ghosting an image back onto the hard drive is redundant as the image creates the partitions. just because you get video and the RAM shows as tho it's all there doesn't mean it's all working correctly. Again, I would use one of my boot cd's or a boot floppy and run some testing utilities on the hardware. Sometimes these things are best left for the "experts" ... in other words, someone who has the technical skills and the tools. You could get all necessary drivers if there were any; however, you'd need to know which motherboard/video card, etc your system has in it. Dell driver CD's , for example, can read the installed hardware and install the proper drivers. When I rebuild a Dell PC, I install Windows and then I run the Driver CD. Until I install the drivers, the video card doesn't work right, the network card isn't accessible, etc etc. hope some of this helps.

heh... the "box" is only to hide all that "ugly" stuff inside from folks's eyes... in fact, you could remove all the components inside, set them on a bench and hook them up and you'd have a working computer ... less the box....but it would look quite a mess! The fans are there to cool the CPU chip and the power supply...they would still do that without the "box" encompassing all the components.

AWESUM!!! she sure sound good thar Brian!! So lookin fwd to seein you ridin at Nelson!

Ditto that... hardware issue

heh... I don't think you've missed the opportunity once to say that!

heh... wish I could give it up but it pays good money...more than I could get at some other job that I might qualify for... looking at another 3-5 years before retirement. Worst thing about computers is trying to keep up with changes in technology. Here where I work the environment doesn't change a lot so technology changes don't impact me as much or as often. As for keeping "home based" pc's running, just changing them out every 2 or 3 years doesn't ensure they will run right... software and users are what generally screws them up and no matter how new it may be, someone still has to fix those issues. The easiest way to keep a computer running smoothly and for a long time is not to add a whole lot of "junk" onto it...but who can do that nowadays? LOL

Unless I didn't read everything, how do you know it's a software issue as opposed to hardware?? You may have a memory chip gone bad, video card issue.... etc On another note, I don't know about emachines but Dell PC's have their own drivers for motherboard, video, network cards, and so on... a Windows CD by itself won't necessarilly pick up and install correct drivers for Dell's hardware... this may be the case with your emachine so getting a Windows CD is not necessarilly going to be the thing that fixes it.

2nd Gen vs 2nd Gen Midnight
SilvrT replied to Iowawegian's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have the studded one on my '06 ... I stopped at a yammie dealer one day last Nov and an 07 midnight was there (for sale) ... it had the pillow top. Salesman commented that mine was the first one he'd seen with the studded seats (that hadn't been changed out ... meaning it came stock like that). I commented that I'd never seen any with the pillow top before. I like the looks of the studded seat on the midnight... suits the style but I think I'd like to have the pillowtop just for the extra comfort...and it looks pretty good too! Having said that.... anybody wanna trade??? (even steven) ... pm me.
