I tried using paint stripper but I found it would eat into the plastic... laquer thinner will do the same. I still prefer the sanding method...it's just a lot of work.

Ivan... when I redid my '87 I used an orbital sander with 40 grit paper to take it down to bare plastic...worked pretty good but ya gotta be careful around edges and tabs, etc. Plus, there's always those small nooks and cranny's that require some hand sanding. After that, I applied some heavy coats of high build primer, sanding with 180 grit inbetween to smooth out the roughness from the 40 grit.

Our weather here sucks too! ... the forecast for tomorrow is for clear skies, sunshine, and temps up to 14 celcius .... dang I wish it would warm up! EDIT.. I just checked the latest forecast... temps for tomorrow have changed... it's gonna warm up some... up to 19 now! Maybe... just maybe, I'll take the scoot out for a short ride....

I know I'm old and my head doesn't work so good anymore but just how does 40 times 1 million add up to 40 trillion?? 40 times 1 is 40 isn't it? 2 times 1 million is 2 million isn't it? am I missing something or do you do your math like this..... after each item you read, cover it up and then add the next value... 1000 40 1000 10 1000 40 1000 10 did you get 5000 ? add it up again!

Well... as I recall ... it was about a month ago ... now, if the cop had not been nice to me ... I would have gotten a ticket for doing 140 in an 80 zone (kilometers that is) ... as it was, he slapped me with a $170 fine and wrote me up for a much slower speed.

Silk Purse from a Sows ear

Nope... I'm 5' 10 1/2" and weigh all of 153lbs stark naked and soakin wet (now ain't that a picture!) However, I'm a "wiry sob" and like I've said earlier, I really don't have any problems handling this 2nd gen... in fact, I found both my 1st gen's harder to handle (at low speeds) but both the 1st gens handled the twisties better than my 2nd gen. What I have found is that if the tire pressure is too low, it is diffucult to handle at the low speeds.
