The Khromewerks (well, not yet but I wanted to pull the baffles to check 'em) ... but to me it looks like they can't be pulled from the "inlet" end and if so, then why does one have to unscrew the end cap and the other screws that hold the baffle (or whatever) in at the outlet end.
-
I sent an email to Khromewerks to get info on how to repack and available materials and they themselves refer to it that way... they say to pull the baffle out from the Front. So, to interpret your Shakespear, you're saying the inlet beith thine front?
-
OK, I have been reviewing a lot of info regarding repacking mufflers, the following thread being one of many. Nothing that I've come across defines which is Front and which is Back. In my mind, the front is the inlet end and the back is the outlet (or the tail end of the muffler where the exhaust cometh outeth...) Am I right or wrong? :scratchchin: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42168&highlight=repack

Done it more than once on both my '85 and '87 VR's and upon return had no hesitation to turn around and go again.

I really like the tone of the Khromewerks; however, they are a tad loud ... possibly need repacking as I got them used from another member here. I've been out twice with them so far for 4-5 hour rides.... I find them easier to "hear" than the bored out RK's riding down the slab and pulling some hills. Have yet to test them on a "long" ride as those 2 rides were a lot of stop and go ... speed adjusting, etc. Yesterday I plugged my headset in and was able to listen to the tunes without being too distracted by the muffs so, so far, so good.

Well, I've had an '83 Wing, an '85 and an '87 Venture. Hands down I would choose the Venture over an '86 Wing. Why? Because it's faster and sportier and you can still ride all day long on it. 68k is nothing but 19k ... hmmmmmm.... been sitting a long, long time.... may need some thorough maintenance. (just my $0.05)
-
Thanks Chris, I'll take all the compliments I can get .... LOL

ya but are you moving or sitting still?

I've seen this posted here before and it only appears to be any good if someone submits the information... as for around here, nothing has been posted since last year so a lot of good that is going to do. For such a site to be effective, it has to have "up-to-the minute" information.

Never been on any of those "style" of bikes. I can tell you though, that the RSV is comfortable at any posted highway speed and above. Mine seems to like it best around 120-130 km/h however any speed below or above is no problem. I've ran mine for several kilometers on the "slab" at 160-170 km/h no problem at all. As for rider/passenger comfort, I don't think you can beat it. Several published comparisons attest to that. Handling wise, it's pretty decent for a bike of it's size, especially with non-stock tires such as Avon's and a change to the levelling links which improve overall handling, especially low speed "parking lot" stuff. Power wise, it ain't no slouch either ... just remember it's a V4, not a V-twin .... torque is not there at low rpm's like a V-twin.

not all of 'em ...

heh ... I never scare myself when I "toot my own horn" .... but I do get a few "who the h3ll does he think he is" looks :rotf:

Cagers just don't LOOK, and especially at this time of year when biking season is just beginning. Not only that but it seems cagers are getting more and more "lax" at having any consideration at all of others. They ride their brakes for no reason, go slow in the passing lane, run red lights, turn left in front of you, make right hand turns on a red without stopping first.... the list is endless. One of the other things they do is change lanes without signalling or looking. I am SO GLAD I installed my Stebel Air horn!!! Took the day off yesterday to do some riding as the weatherman blessed us with a nice warm sunny day amidst a lot of cool, rainy ones. TWICE I had to BLAST the Stebel at cagers attempting to change into my lane without realizing I was there. No signalling, no looking over their right shoulder ..... GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR what's wrong with people these days??? There are more and more bikers on the road every year yet peoples driving habits seem to be getting worse and worse ... especially here in "Hongcouver"! OK.... I'm done venting now.

I start my bike at least every 2-3 weeks during the winter also but unless I'm mistaken, you guys in Michigan can get quite cold there so yeah, maybe 5w -40 is ok for that but once the weather is warm enuf to ride, I personally would not use that oil weight....that's all I'm sayin ... to each their own. heh... guess I was typing while you were editing LOL! -

I would suggest that since your scoot is older, going to a synthetic oil might not be a good idea if it's not been accustomed to anything but dino .... and going so low as a 5w is a little much I'd think living where you do. 10-30, 10-40 in the colder months should be fine and in the highest heat of the summer, maybe 20-50 but 5-40 is what a person might put in their vehicle in the frozen north IMHO. -

jlh3rd & Monty ... If we make a deal on this w/s, I might just get you both to ship to Blaine, WA as I have a pickup location there and shipping within USA is quite a bit cheaper .... it's just a bit of a PITA crossing the border due to the wait times.
