  1. Skydoc, I appreciate it, I have been lookin at that already, just trying to get the money together for it. Flyin Fool, good point, I haven't looked at those yet, is there any threads on how to get to the stator, I haven't looked yet, and I don't want to just start tearin into the bike without some info. Any help would be appreciated, but honestly, Ill probably just go ahead and replace it just to go ahead and get it over with now
  2. OK, so I know I dropped off for a while, but I finally bought a new battery for the bike, started up ran great, drove it around probably an hour and half total yesterday. The volt meter did look like it was sitting lower than normal yesterday as I was riding. and today I went out to start it and it turned it over, but very slowly, not enough to start it, so I'm really considering getting a stator and rectifier and doing that. Any ideas on best place to get it?
  3. Sorry everybody, I know it has been a while since I have been on, I have been really busy, got a lot on my plate at the moment, at this point I am half way tempted to just take it somewhere to get them to check it out, or if someone lives in the hampton roads area of va and is willing to help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the replies.
  4. Thanks for all the replies and advice, unfortunately I am busy with work until sunday, I will try these all then and see what I come up with, Hoping it is just battery:fingers-crossed-emo
  5. Got a problem that is driving me insane and Im hoping either this has happened to someone else and they know how or someone knows the solution. So I was riding my 83 1200 venture and I noticed the volt meter was reading lower than normal. I figured it was because it was getting colder and just kept driving it. Well next time I tried to start it, the turn over was much slower, but it still started. Guage still low. Stopped for gas and bike would not start, not enough power so I push started it and drove it straight home where unfortunately it has sat for a while now. WHen I first brought it home it would still half way attempt to start, just slowly, then it wouldnt do that, then the cluster just went dark. I tried hooking up my battery tender to it to see if that would fix it but it wouldn't even register. I took to battery to autozone to get them to charge it and have not tried that yet. Does this sound like a battery problem or something else. Let me know what you think. Thanks:fingers-crossed-emo
  6. Ok, so my 83 Venture started messing up and it seemed like it just might be the battery, but I'm starting to think I was wrong in my initial assesment. It started with the battery voltage meter looking lower than normal, then when I stopped for gas, it would not start back up, turn over slowly then went dark, nothing at all showing up, no fuel pump clicks nothing. I thought maybe a bad connection or the fuse blown but thats not it, anything else it might be? Any help would be appreciated.
  7. Since the truck was a diesel I would have dumped black smoke all over her and her car, and I would followed her home and gave her some nice donuts in her front yard because she obviously likes donuts:cool10:
  8. Amen to that, without yall America would not be what it is today, we would probably have no freedom and our lives would be dramatically different. I can't imagine some of the things you have seen or had to do, but I stand behind you 100% and I always will and anyone who won't stand behind our military should go out and stand in front of them
  9. Its good to know there are a few of us around here, I would love to meet up with anyone around here and just cruise for a while. If interested in a local meet I'm willing to travel a little bit just reply and lets see if we can get something going.
  10. Like it said, I have an 83 mk1 and the seat has started getting messed up from the heat and sun. Its almost like its melting and has gotten sticky. I like the stock seat but it really isn't too comfortable for a long ride. I'm a bigger guy, think 250ish so I was wondering if there is an aftermarket seat available for the first gen mk1s, would really like it to have the option for or come with a drivers back rest. Haven't been able to find any seat options so any ideas would be great, or any ideas about making stock seat more comfortable. Thanks for your time guys:bluesbrother:
  11. I have a first gen 83 and the sewing machine exhaust was driving me insane so I followed someones tips and cut the tip off the end and the end baffle out with a hole saw and it made a world of difference to the overall sound and performance of the bike. Love it. Would definatly recommend it to anyone trying to get a better sound out of their bike
  12. where can i find progressive springs for my bike, my front springs are shot, it bottoms out on almost any good size bump
  13. Thanks man for the part, I had to retap the hold and work the fill screw but it is now in the bike and the brakes are workin better than ever. Got me back on the road and another light off of the dash. Two more to go
  14. I live in the hampton rhoads area of VA and I was curious if there was anyone else with a venture that live around this area that would possibly want to meet up and ride sometime? Or if there were goin to be any rides anywhere near here. I looked on the calender and saw the meet and eat in greensboro and as of now am not sure if I would be wanting to drive that far yet, but who knows by that time things may have changed. Thanks everyone for your help and support, I appreciate all of you and the help you give.
  15. I have seen one tech article that shows me to solder a couple of spots to fix it, but when I opened mine up it was not set up the same in the back, are there different things for different bikes or something?
  16. I got an 83 waitin for a rear master cylinder to get here, still running like a champ though, maybe in need of a carb sync though. Another one on the list:dancefool:
  17. Where is that relay located at so I can check it?
  18. Yeah fortunatly the bike came with the manual so I have that to help me out, thanks for the tips though, it is greatly appreciated:dancefool:
  19. I just picked up my venture not too long ago and am still in the process of getting my motorcycle license and have been doing some work on the bike since I got it. Got a couple of problems that I can't figure out though. The gas guage only works when the bike is near completely full or near empty but nowhere in between, anybody have any ideas why? Also the light on the computer always says the kickstand is down even when it isn't. If I actually put the kickstand down while it is in gear it will run horrible so it is obviously getting the signal so I don't know why the light doesn't go off. The guy that had it before me said they changed the actual sensor that is attached to the kickstand so I don't think it is that but I can't be sure. Once again, if anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. I am new and you have made me feel very welcome and I greatly appreciate it, the tech articles have helped me alot so far, and it feels good to be part of such a tight knit group. Thanks again Brian
  20. Yeah sorry about that, its an 83 venture and its the rear brake resevoir, the one from Brian might work as long as everything is still workable. thanks for the help guys.
  21. I'm sorry to hear that, my prayers go out to all who knew her
  22. I need a rear brake master cylinder resevoir for my 83 if anyone has any that they can sell me. Thanks guys great site. I really don't want to end up like this...
  23. So as it says I broke my rear master cylinder resevoir just like cja jacobs did. Does anyone know where I can get one or even better does anyone have one? I am just getting into riding and have only had the bike a couple of months, but right as I get my license it breaks. Thanks for the help.
