  1. That is just cool. However if you showed up in my neck of the woods I would have to want to burn you a steak as my treat to reward you for your efforts. That is just how I am. Maybe the oportunity will present itself. Good times and great memories. Bill
  2. I did mention earlier about pulling the oil pan. It comes out inbetween the frame. I think 8 maybe 10 bolts. I did not even unplug the sensor, I just let it hang. About an hour or less to r&r the pan for inspection. Then you have something to eleminate as a problem. I resealed with rtv sealant. Bill
  3. I vote to remove the oil pan. Lay the bike over on its crash bars, lay on a quilt and remove the pan. This will give you access to the rods and crank, look for any markings on the counter balance of the crank shaft. This occurs when hydroshock occurs and the piston skirt contacts the counterbalance (bent rod). You can take a dremel and trim/notch the counter balance to provide clearance. Don't ask me how I know this. Good Luck Bill
  4. I had a friend long ago that said he was an electrician on a submarine. He claims the military tought him to put a much too large fuse in and wait for the short to burn a wire. Then just replace the effected wire. I have never tried this , but it is not my bike eather. Just don't burn the bike up. Bill
  5. I read on this forum a while back about using 35 mm film negatives to slide down the fork seals to clean them, as the culpret to them leaking was dirt holding the seal away from the surface, thus oil leaked. I am not telling you what to do, but a penney saved is a penney earned. Bill
  6. I agree with Condor, I will pull one fuse at a time until I isolate the short. It is a place to start. Good luck. Bill
  7. Question??? These are heated, shouldn,t they get hot. Isn,t that why you got em? I,m just sayen...
  8. Try blowing the latch area with compressed air, and using a light penetrating oil in the openings. I have seen this mentioned before. Bill
  9. Ok been there, the grass is not always greener on the other side. I started with a 1600 roadstar, nice bike....went to a 2000 venture, very nice bike, went to a 2008 raider...very nice fast bike, went to a 03 midnight venture...great bike, went to a 2006 tour deluxe midnight...good bike, now I wish I had one of my ventures back. I will actively search out a deal this fall. Think of how much money I would have today had I been a member here. Keep the check book in your pocket and ride. Bill:backinmyday:
  10. Welcome, I second the drivers backrest (utopia) and adjustable mount kurry hiway pegs. My preference. This lets you streach out and change positions while riding. All that chrome is a safety requirement. The rule is what does not make it go fast gets chromed....it is a rule. As much as the wallet will allow. Bill
  11. Sorry , prayers sent. Bill
  12. Very nice Brian. Had the mature mesquites began to bloom yet? I went there a couple of years ago with my daughter, very scenic, very hot, mid summer 100 plus. I may go back in a week or too. Thanks for the video. Bill:)
  13. I think that is where you grease the muffler bearings....so the exhaust is smoooth..... It could be for the squelch grease so there is no static on the cb?
  14. Happy birthday Annie....Maybe we will get to see you this year.
  15. I did not know you had to have a bike to be a member here? Oh well good to hear from you.
  16. very nice job. It looks mean....no I mean nice.....How about nice and mean....As far as chrome goes ....The rule is.. what doesn't make it go fast gets chromed. That is a rule. anyway it is safety chrome. Bill
  17. Most often exhaust odor is a direct result of the fuel running through it. Seen this issue many times in cages. Switch stations and experiment with grades, and see if this does not fix the problem. Are you sure he was not just upset that you were ahead of him???Just sayen. Bill
  18. The needle and seat are only about $20 and about an hour and half or so to install.... Now, what can happen... # 3 cylinder can fill with fuel and when you start it....or try....the piston rod can bend...no really..I know this for a fact!! Now for safety...turn off the fuel petcock when not running especially if you park in the garage with a hot water or utility closet in it...The amount of seafoam used is...when our low fuel light comes on, dump the entire can in the tank, drive about 5 miles park the bike overnight. Start the next morning, drive it like you stole it, fill the tank. If this does not fix it , buy the needle and seat and set the float levels. My tow cents. Bill
  19. I love it...I had a red 2000 model, very good bike. Price sounds fair. I do like the way you barter....hold your ground.
  20. Most homeowners policies have coverage for living somewhere else if *the house is concitered un-livable. Check the drivers homeowners insurance for liability clause*It is not restricted to location.....in other words....the drivers liability follows the insured. You can file on your homeowners and they will subregate to the driver for reinbursement...You will be out your deductible and will go as a claim on your policy that can effect renewal rates. You may have trauma from the accident, does your neck hurt? headaches? The loss may not stop at the property.
  21. I usually make it to the office on thursdays anyway .....May 9th should not be any different ( hopefully it will be). I do agree, it is about time we met up. Bill
  22. Have you called the piggy-backer trailer bunch? The trailers look very similar, and they have replacement parts on hand. 800-448-4841. Give em a try. Bill
  23. Happy B-day Rick......I work everyday in Lubbock, We visited once a couple years ago on an ignition switch, however we never met. Maybe someday soon we can visit over an adult breverage of choice... Bill
  24. I am happy for you!!!
