  1. Hey cowpuc, Scott No I have not test ridden a new wing. My concerns are the reduced baggage compacity and the passenger area is also smaller. Lucretia may not like being cramped up, and I kinda like her with me on the road. Bill
  2. I am happy for your friend and that Honda stepped up on the warranty issue. A whole new bike, that's way cool. Bill
  3. This is the first year on the newley redesigned 1800 engine. It is narrower and I believe shorter, bout the only way to do that is to shorten the stroke and increase the bore size, like a stroker motor. Time will tell how reliable it is on the long run. Bill
  4. FYI imho should have had the beer first. Just sayen Bill
  5. I would be aware of the height and angle change, the ground may mess with the sensor activation. Raise them up and keep them level. IMHO Bill
  6. I second the dime trick, I used silicone to secure the coin to the backside of the fin. Bill
  7. Your grill is shipped via priority mail. It is due to arrive on Thursday the 22nd. enjoy it Bill
  8. I got your PM, It will be tomorrow before I can send it, as today the post office is closed. Brian said that it anchored on with zip ties, I had a couple of these and always used copper wire to tie it down. I am sure some one here will chime in on the best way to install properly. As far as expense, It would be nice if you would cover the shipping cost for me. It should not be that big of a deal. Bill
  9. I got to catch up a bit with TX to Sturgis (Brian) a bit last night, I will meet him tonight at a basketball playoff game in Plainview Tx. I told him I would pay his way if he would come, he said that sounded like a helluva deal. I am looking forward to the visit and my daughters game. On the grill, he will get it to me tonight and I will get your shipping information so I can send it to you. Bill
  10. I have text Brian to see if he still has it. He drives a truck, so he may not be able to answer for a while. Bill
  11. Texas to Sturgis had one he did not use, he sold his venture a while back, he may still have the grill. Bill
  12. I used a similar setup to filter the moisture out of the air compressor when I would paint a pickup or car some 25 years ago. I think I still have it laying around in the barn somewhere. It worked great for what I was doing. Might be afraid to trust it on a vehicle though. Bill
  13. great machine. My thought is a box blade to add some rear weight, that will also help with that uneven drive you mentioned. That is my most used accessory besides the bucket on my little tractor. I just leave it on all the time unless I'm needing something for a different job. That thing may last for years and years with a little tlc. Enjoy Bill
  14. I too am planning another Sturgis run with my wife this year. We have stayed at Glencoe camp, pitching a tent ,before and will probably do it again. The camps can be a lot of fun people watching. We always park the bike at dark and let the crazies do their thing. The rides are great if you leave camp early enough (8 or 9 am) all the hard partiers are still asleep til noon or later. That gives us time to have already been to and be coming back from our destination before it gets congested(with the exception of the 75th , it was crowded all the time everywhere). Maybe, as we have done before , we all can meet up for a visit while we are there. Bill
  15. Wow, nice to hear from you. I remember the accident, glad your doing ok. Somehow , on this side of the fence, it doesn't seem like six years. Hope all is going well for you. Merry Christmas Bill
  16. Yes, I did this. gather used cooking oil. Must be vegie oil , no animal fat. screened the oil into a 55 gallon drum, mix 10 gallons of diesel to thin it and 1 gallon of gasoline to raise the btu, mix well. let sit overnight for any crumbs to settle to the bottom. tap the drum about 8 inches from base to avoid moisture and crumbs. let filter through tap water filters( like under your sink) then through a diesel moisture filter(like on a farm tank). The micron filtration of the water filters will let you get to around 5-10 microns. The dodge pickup I ran had the factory filter was rated at 15 microns. This mix still clogged the factor filter every 2000miles or so. I lost the injector pump around 25000miles into this. pickup was over 10 years old and couple hundred thousand miles or so. Lots of info online to do this, should have built an atkins generator to neutralize the ph. This mix would have been better mixing 50/50 or so, it was still much thicker than diesel, and yes the exhaust does smell like what ever has been cooking in the oil. Very very messy process. Bill
  17. I really would like to make it, it is only 1200 miles to the dragon. Timing is not going to let me and the wife come this time. I would like lots of pics of the area and the leaves turning . it sounds like a great ride and lots of beauty to take in. Enjoy, have a great time, and be safe. Nice to hear from you, glad your ok after the fire. Bill
  18. You know they ain't quit making them. Reba has sisters brothers and cousins everywhere just waiting for a new home. Bill
  19. I don't know how accurate this is , however the only metric bike that was represented at Sturgis was Yamaha. Not only this year, for the last three or four years that I have been there Yamaha has always had a tent with new models being shown. I do seem to remember CanAm had their trike models there a few years ago. If you know better, chime in and let me know. I just did not see any other metric bike brands around. This year Yamaha had a huge set up and the venture was being put in the spot light. Very nice setup. Bill
  20. Thanks puc, I really enjoyed our visit and your insite on life. Made it home , safe and sound. Great time at the rally had by all. Til next time. Bill
  21. Phone service, I was at Sturgis with Brian(Tx2Sturgis) couple years ago, he showed me the temporary phone towers ,and they waited til Friday before rally to turn them on. Then my phone got a great signal for the rest of the time in the Black Hills. No secret handshake needed...Just wait til they flip the switch. Bill
  22. Hey Puc Yamaha shop is great, like last time. Lucretia is not coming this time, just me. The Phone towers should be up and running by rally time. see yall there. Bill
  23. I will be heading out on Thursday planning on arriving on Friday. Pitching my tent at Glencoe camp. Probably stay til mid week and head back and spend a few days in Colorado If anybody else is going, it would be nice to meet up like we did a couple of years back (the pie butt 22.5 or something like that).
  24. In College, for a year or two I owned a 71 or72 Honda Coupe. 600cc two cylinder air cooled engine with the gear shift that came out of the dash. It was a hoot to drive, that thing would fit in the back of a half ton pickup and the tailgate would almost shut. It would park almost anywhere. I would come out and people would have picked it up and moved it around, above the back tire (fender) was always bent as that is where people would pick it up from. Yea, a very fun ride. Bill
