  1. and to make matters worse, you will get a new catalogue in the mail every year with the latest and greatest pieces and parts to add. Mine is still almos stock, well except for the Chrome flames derby cover, timer cover and aircleaner cover. Oh and the windshield trim and foot rest trim, and mp3 player and saddlebag cooler and and and and and and and and...
  2. Your going to have a serious problem. Way to many chrome accessories available for that bike. Start with the Kuri passenger foot pegs. Keeps my wife happy to have her own highway pegs. Congratulations. http://www.touringhogs.com
  3. An HD Ultra does not get 50 - at least mine does not. Maybe I just like the sound when you roll on the throttle to much. I get anywhere from 40-45 depending on riding style.
  4. They HAD to of thought it was a Harley! Don't shoot me guys, just kidding. Nice to see it getting some recognition by the show group.
  5. My car says every 10,000 miles. Spoke to the lead mechanic at the dealership and he told me anything else was a waste of money. Use mobile 1 synthetic.
  6. I will not hesitate to go to a trike when the time comes that I am not comfortable on a 2 wheel bike. Its still a motorcycle and thats what I enjoy. I do like the looks of some more than others. From a mechanical standpoint, I would want a reverse. Would give serious consideration to the goldwing trikes.
  7. You did the right thing - it truly could have been your last ride. This is why I seldom ride with groups. I know my limits and do not want to be tempted to exceed them.
  8. So how about riding your motorcycle in traffic to a dive site?
  9. My certification is through PADI. We had to do an underwater navigation, but that cert agency considers night diving a follow-on.
  10. I owned one for 4 years and have the tired backside to prove it :-). The ride was my biggest complaint - the nomad was definitely a cruiser not a tourer. Not a smooth ride. I thought the bike had power until I bought my Ultra and now have to agree with your comment on underpowered. That said, I am not one that needs a lot of power the Nomad got me there as quickly as I wanted. I heard that the 1600 was considerably better, but have never be on one so do not know. In any case, it certainly looks good from the pictures.
  11. Unless they have changed the engine significantly - the Nomad I had (1500cc) was not a thumper. Ran very smooth. My biggest complaint was the seat and ride not as smooth as I would have liked.
  12. If my wife can do it anyone can - she was not even a strong swimmer when we started - and this was her idea. I had suggested it about 10 years ago and she said "go for it, but not me". This time it was her idea. I am not planning to go to Texas Stampede. Just not much of a crowd person. Like small groups much better.
  13. Yea, I want to try night dives, but need a couple of more day trips to be sure I am REALLY comfortable, but I am looking forward to one.
  14. Well some of you know that my wife and I spent a bit of time getting our scuba open water certifications. The classes were fun, but a lot of work. we completed our open water (meaning we can dive up to 130 feet deep) about 3 weeks ago. We went on our first real dives week before last on vacation. What a thrill. We took 4 dives from a boat and one shore dive over a three day period. The fish and coral we saw were amazing - sea turtles, moray eels, zebra eels, star fish, sharks, and more fish than I could name. One of the real thrills was petting and holding an octopus. The dive master signaled for us to sit still a minute and he swam away about 15 feet and came back with an octopus with a head about the size of a dinner plate. Got to hold it. Absolutely amazing. It was incredible being 90 feet below the surface and able to see 200 feet away with perfect clarity. I cannot wait to get underwater again!
  15. The Kawi V-twin is a very smooth engine. I would not discount it on fears of vibration. I like the looks. Not in the market, but if I was, it would get serious consideration. I hope they improved the suspension over the orginal nomads. The one I owned was a bit rough over bumps.
  16. Thanks all, I went for PADI certification. I like their program - really stresses safety. I was kind of funny today, the rock query where we were diving has several sunken items - cabin cruiser, American Eagle airplane, etc. After one of the dives the instructor asked why we were moving all the time - he reminded us that part of diving is just to hover around and watch what is happening around us. I think we will really enjoy this - and it is quite an accomplishment for my wife. I tried to convince here to do this about 10 years ago. We had a pool then and I decided is was a lost cause when she would not even let her head go under water in the pool. This time is was her idea. I never even said anything else about it. I was happy just snorkeling. Now she is asking me which coast we should move to! Which with my job is doable. Does not really matter where I live.
  17. The truck would HAVE to be the Harley Davidson edition of course.
  18. With my scuba lessons. My wife and I both decided to buy some new snorkle equipment. Next thing I know we were both signed up for open water scuba certification lessons. You guys just thought a Harley was expensive - start buying scuba equipment. Anyway, we finished our confined water and classroom instructon a couple of weeks ago and completed our forth and final open water dive today. We are both certified not as open water divers! Let the adventure begin!
  19. And the front fender is wrong for a Harley
  20. Tank emblem looks like a HD. Kawasaki Nomad saddlebags do not have a top opening cover, the whole side opens. So, not real sure what it is. Maybe some aftermarket bags, trunk and batwing added to a HD?
  21. Harley owners manual for my '07 says up to 10% ethanol is fine. Older bikes need seals replaced with materials that the ethanol will not destroy. There was a new report the other night that the ethanol mix is playing havoc on small engines on things like weed eaters, edgers etc. They only spoke about two cycle engines. No problems with my lawn equipment yet, but who knows. It is getting very hard to find a gas station that does not have labels that say "may contain up to 10% ethanol" on the pumps.
  22. I live in the wetest dry county in the US. We can drink at restaurants, order wine over the internet for local delivery, but cannot purchase beer or wine in the county.
  23. Wish it had turned a little north. Could really use the rain. Looks like we will miss it entirely in NE Texas.
  24. I have been playing around stainded glass for several years, good hobby and does not cost much to start - good glass cutter, couple of different pliers, grinder, soldering iron (not the one you use for electrical work a mallet and some horseshoe nails - and your materials for each window. The glass is not cheap. I prefer to work with lead instead of copper tape, but thats just me.
  25. From what I have read, the company they bought has a very goof European distribution and dealer network and thats what Harley was getting out of it.
