  1. 14612 has worked on my last two bikes but it was/is really tight. So tight that I could see where bike manufacturing tolerances varying from bike to bike could make it not work on some.
  2. You should be able to see the rear shock without removing anything. You'll need to get on your hands and knees to see it just in front of the rear tire. A flashlight may help but is not necessary. Engleharts has a pretty good tech who is familiar with the Venture which is not always the case with Yamaha dealers.
  3. Stickers???
  4. I have a new iSimple still in the box. Next week I can send pics if you are still needing them
  5. Would have been fine as I have weekend place across the river from Burlington too!
  6. It does sound like the ignition switch. Dion (djh3) who replied above, makes a bypass that is plug and play. I have purchased one from him and it is a quality item. These are in tech tech library and may help you diagnose it: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?75398-By-passing-the-Ignition-switch http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?32359-Ignition-Switch-Wiring-Failure http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?512-Emergency-Ignition-Switch-Repair
  7. Godlover, I'm in Peoria - how close are you going to be?
  8. I had a dealer tell me last year they need to sell a tire before it reaches 5 years of age based upon the date code on the tire. If not sold after that they need to destroy it. Not sure how true that is but it seemed believable. I was travelling through the area and unexpectedly needed a rear tire. They had one tire in stock. A four year old Avon which they sold to me at a good price after I pointed out the date code. I don't remember what it cost me, but I would have paid more because I was stranded.
  9. The Royal Star Tour Deluxe (non - fairing) uses a different light bar that a Royal Star Venture. They look very similar but wont interchange. If you use a RSTD light bar on a Venture you will need to remove the lower deflectors on the forks
  10. Helmet, I've installed a few of those modules including on a RSTD. The module for that one, while a tight fit, did fit inside behind the taillight with all of those wires. Not sure where the model you listed came from but was from Custom Dynamics. The alternative is to put it under the seat. With Steve's connectors it will be easy.
  11. Oconeedan, i realize you said you didn't want to spend the money, but these are a really great product Yamaha Motorcycle Taillight- Custom Dynamics - Yamaha LED Brake Light I have used them in the last three bikes and they really make you visible. I haven't tried them personally, but the LED shaped bulbs are reportedly a waste of money. i also use the Custom Dynamics modulator to flash my brake light and since I have a Venture, I have a light bar under my trunk sold by one of our members.
  12. Could be bad motor mount
  13. 3rd: should I just put on the 150 and learn to wrestle with it in parking lots? Semi, Does you bike have leveling links to raise the rear from stock? Or if you are "inseam challenged" and cannot afford the slight increase in seat height the alternative is to lower the forks in front slightly. I installed the leveling links to raise mine and it makes a world of difference in slow speed handling so I stick with with the stock tire size.
  14. I agree with not going over mid point. Above that you really can have mess to clean up because by the time you see the dripping down the side of the engine there is a lot of oil in the air intake boxes under the tank
  15. I made my own for my 2007 RSTD and before I traded it off on my new Venture I removed them and put the originals back on. They went on the new Venture with no problem. There is a post in the Tech Section describing how to make them.
  16. Have you checked into the Baggershield? I bought one but haven't installed it yet.
  17. Barkeep, try this link for one. I believe I have seen others. Have you tried to search? This is in the 2nd gen tech section http://www.venturerider.org/forum/computer-lights-horns-other-electrical/8810-tachometer-install.html
  18. They are easily removed by screwing a used spark plug (plug wire end) into the center to pull them out. Would be a good time to drain and replace all of the coolant and there are write ups on that. In fact if you find one of those there most likely is a description of replacing the freeze plugs.
  19. I agree! bought a new 2012 last fall!
  20. It looks pretty sharp in your pictures and cosmetic issues can be cleared on your schedule. Take your time and correct them gradually. did you really force the old girl to ride all the way home looking at that Hardley sticker on the tailgate of the truck??
  21. A member, CarbonOne, makes a wire harness including the relay for this. He also sells a nice polished bracket to mount the horn. I purchased both and was very pleased
  22. Wrench, I followed your link to Yamaha Sports Plaza and couldn't find those deflectors. Did you purchase them recently?
  23. House [of}
  24. But then these highly intelligent dudes realized they were floating on the raft to Don's MD without their Ventures! So they came up with a plan to ....
