  1. Carl, has anyone checked all three rims to see if they are true?
  2. I used RTV sealant on the screws around ABS. All of the screws in the bags and trunk are likely to come loose
  3. You could always tow a trailer. I noticed CarbonOne added a hitch to his Slingshot
  4. I would suggest duct tape for 85MPH:cool10:
  5. I like the way M61AMECH built his taller. If you build it the correct height it should be wedged in there tight enough stay. I have used rubber corks from the hardware store in similar situations but I am not sure even their largest would be tall enough. I suppose you could fasten them together. Maybe use the automotive coil spring spacers?
  6. I've been looking for a way to do that with my Baggershield. Thanks!
  7. VideoAZ, I was looking at your pictures, particularly where you have the tape measure in the view and this may be a dumb question but... Are looking to put the rubber damper between the bars and the fairing? The damper should be between the top of the triple tree and the fairing. M61AMECH's picture is the best of those supplied in this thread to show what it should like. He has extended his, of course. If you are already looking at that route, sorry to have stepped in.
  8. Yes, saw one going down the road in Peoria, Illinois. Same color
  9. Looks good, Tom. thanks for sharing
  10. If the needle valve hangs up and fuel flows into the cylinder it could result in catastrophic engine failure. If the piston is down in its stroke with fuel in the cylinder when you crank the engine the piston travel cannot compress the fuel and you will have, at the least, a bent rod. I have had hydrostatic lock but I was fortunate the cylinder with the fuel had the piston at its uppermost travel. So in my case when hit the starter button the starter engaged but the engine was locked up. I pulled the spark plugs, cranked it over to blow the fuel out, changed the oil, flushed the float bowls, and was good to go. A tiny fleck of dirt can do this and you don't have any warning or any symptoms of any kind. I now turn the fuel off as a habit every time I turn the engine off
  11. If you have it torn down that far you may want to consider going the rest of the way to the bearings to clean and repack them with new grease
  12. Bob, we use the Uclear brand of communicators. We use iPhone for phone, Uclear intercom, and iPhone for music and GPS. The tool I am missing is the CB. Does your product allow CB to be added to my system?
  13. @Mad Dog, if you use the Mr Gasket pump you will need to be sure to turn the fuel off at the fuel tank petcock when you turn the bike off. This pump does not have the built in shut off valve to prevent fuel from potentially filling your cylinders with fuel resulting hydrostatic lock
  14. My RSTD had the factory positionable tips. They were more of a slash cut. I replaced those mufflers with Baron 4-2-4 Nasty Boys. They, too, had slash cut tips that can be rotated to any position. Both of these are options as they will fit the Venture. I still have the Baron mufflers in the shop and plan to use them again. It interested send a PM.
  15. After ignoring it, my curiosity got the best of me and I had to check it out. Only took a few seconds but entertained me for a few. I guess I must be as bored as you!
  16. Thanks for the updates Larry. I'm enjoying seeing the progress and am looking forward seeing to seeing the finished bike!
  17. @Golf&Venture i have a fair amount of experience with Air Force bases. My daughter, son in law, and one of my sons all served in the Air Force. Another son in law was Army. I do recall the pride they all expressed when we visited. I appreciate your advice and while I may not visit, you brought back some pleasant memories. Thanks
  18. I believe we have a member who manufactures the tool to sell to members
  19. Yes, MJ. The front crash bars are 1 inch
  20. It is not worth trusting your life to something as cheap as a tire.
  21. All of the above work but anymore when I get into it I have to go to a Dr and get a shot of some kind. Seems that each time I had a reaction over the years the rash was worse than the time before.
  22. I've heard this one is pretty good http://www.volocars.com/#sthash.2c02PvYe.dpbs if you are in Chicago you are not too far from Milwaukee and the Harley Museum
  23. My Uclear and my old Chatterbox lasted all day using Pandora and GPS through my phone and the occasional intercom. We just have the habit of bringing our helmets to the hotel room and plugging them in. We elected this after having corded comms and forgetting on occasion to unplug, especially after a long ride. Not disaggreeing, Don, just sharing what works best for us.
  24. @syscrusher - that was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the thorough response!
