The low speed handling is improved by raising the rear of the bike about 1 inch. There is a write up in the tech section on how to do this. If you are inseam challenged you can accomplish the same by lowering the front a little. Not sure but it seems I've read where the forks can be slid up further on the triple tree. Smaller front tire has been mentioned but I have not tried that as the raising the rear accomplished what I needed.

I haven't worked on one for a few years but they used to require sensor replacement and quite often more than one. The early systems required at least two sensors to trip before a bag went off.

As Freebird said, they are the chrome tips. There are set screws you can loosen to rotate them to whatever position you desire and it's purely aesthetics. There are two styles at least - short and long.

I am not sure what year they started it but my 2012 (2013 also) has a device in the left bag called iSimple. They came with an iPod also. ISimple is the interface to connect the IPod to the bike's system

Have been using it for a year and love it. (same model as you have) Works great with navigation through the iphone. I bought a Ram mount for the phone so it is nearby on the handlebar. The phone clips in easily so if I stop for a short break and need to leave the bike I carry my helmet and drop the phone inside of it. No need to re "pair" the devises. I just let it keep playing the music I was listening to. I added a small charging box inside the fairing with the output cable permanently run up to the Ram mount so the phone is always charged. I also added weatherproof lighter socket to the plastic panel under the pillion seat for my passenger to plug her phone into. We listen to our own music and could even use voice commands to send email and texts. (I think I only did this once as a successful test)

Hiway pegs on the front crash bars get the air flowing up the ol' pant legs. I have Yamaha accessory deflectors to open and close in varying amounts too.

Federal Transport is based in East Peoria, Illinois where I live. I have not used them myself nor I am I affiliated with them however I have heard only positive reports from those who have used them.

Another museum suggestion: National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa. I'm not connected to them in any way but have visited several times. It was a stop on one of the rides for our International Rally three years ago.
