  1. You can buy a cheap charger to wire into the bike inside the fairing and run the cord up to the handle bar for no dead battery worries. I used one of Steve's (@M61A1MECH) harnesses to tee into the 12V wire to the fairing plugin.
  2. How long has it been since you sync'd the carbs? That usually takes care of backfiring
  3. I added a fuse block under the rear of the fuel tank. It will hold up to five fuses and is maybe 4 inches long and a little over 1 inch wide. It has a clear plastic cover that makes it maybe two inches tall. There was room behind the air inlet plastics. There was no need to mount it.
  4. https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/motorcycle?utm_source=SingleMessage&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=JourneyFurtherEM1_content=Motorcycle&utm_campaign=Event Received a promotional email from Yamaha today. Check out the video at the link above. If you look close you will see some of our own Mike E's diamond cut heads. @eusa1
  5. I heard the same thing at the International Bike Show in Chicago last month
  6. If hydro lock is suspected you should remove the spark plugs and try cranking it over. With the plugs removed hydro lock will be relieved and the fuel will spray out of the spark plug holes as the pistons come up to TDC
  7. Better if he was still sitting on the Harley
  8. Regarding 3D printing: There are companies printing with metal. The plastic used in the "at home" 3d printers may have trouble with heat and fuel.
  9. http://www.worksperformance.com/pdf/app_guide/street.pdf http://www.hagonshocksusa.com/HagApps8.htm These are the two manufacturers most of use beyond the factory original
  10. An open can of tuna fish makes for good bait for coons. Might catch a cat or two also
  11. Agree on the braces. If those front guards move much they break the lower fairings. And they do move without much pressure
  12. I had 4-2-4's and they are loud. I liked them but they were too much for my wife. I sold them and switched to the Harley takeoffs which were free and I am happy with them. Just enough rumble and after making the bracket and purchasing a couple of chrome clamps were really easy to install.
  13. There was a tornado a half hour drive north of my house and no damage here. Still waiting to hear from a co-worker that lives near the worst of the damage.
  14. that video reminds me I am due to for a colonoscopy. Similar, isn't it?
  15. Guy working the Yamaha booth yesterday at the International Motorcycle Show in Chicago said this year in "June" when asked if he had any knowledge of a new Venture. When asked what engine can be expected he said "they aren't telling us". Do I believe him about June? No. But thought I would share anyway
  16. "....remember that clear plastic "working" v-8 engine model..." I assembled one of those as a kid. It was a small block chevrolet as I recall. A couple of batteries ran it and a few drops of some kind of oil kept it from seizing. If I dug deep enough in the attic I may even still have it from probably 50? years ago.
  17. Yep, it should come out the left side. Make sure the wires and/or the holders are no longer attached
  18. You showed us damage to the bike but how are you doing? Looks like it may have landed on top of you
  19. And that starter relay is behind the cover at the left passenger foot rest. It is very common for them to corrode
  20. Kinda like walking 9' across shag carpet to change the TV channel?
  21. The vacuum gauges are also able to be calibrated. I used a new set a few times and wasn't really happy with the results. Then I realized they could be calibrated and that made a huge difference
  22. I have been using this on all multi carb bikes for several years: Emgo 84-68594. A google search will produce several places selling them
  23. Was at my local Chevrolet dealership thjis morning and they had set of takeoffs on display for sale. Dont recall how much or even 100% sure they were from a G6. They were Pontiac though
  24. Going to pull the swing arm to clean and repack the bearings. Get that back together and then pull the steering head bearings to clean and repack them.
