horns driving me nuts!!!

http://m.globalindustrial.com/m/p/electrical/safety/Audible-Signal-Vehicular/bad-boy?infoParam.campaignId=T9F&gclid=CKuunv_t0dACFVc6gQodv80IWA& you can get the Wolo air horn at most auto parts stores and Harbor Freight. Member @CarbonOne sells a mounting bracket and wiring kit with relay. Simple install using his bracket to replace the right side horn. My horn is is at least six years old and still works fine. I just leave the left factory horn in place. You can't hear it over the new air horn and it doesn't hurt anything to just leave it. -
Radio and cb question

I like that description! -
yes. I was wondering if anyone would catch that. My son and I ride our bikes there every year in June for vintage cycle racing. Have been doing that for the past 8 years or so. I'm not sure if they do it each day of the weekend's events because we only have attended on Saturday but if you are there early enough they allow spectators to ride the track. You pay an extra fee and are directed to a certain turn along the track for a brief meeting. The rules are a pace car leads the group and another brings up the rear, no passing, and 45MPH top speed. They said they had track monitors stationed along the 4 mile+ track. If any rules were broken they would escort us off the track. The last time we did it, about 3 years ago, we (son, my brother in law, and I) were in the middle of the group of maybe 30. Of the three of us, my son was on his Honda CB750F, me on the my RSTD, b-in-law on a late model Goldwing) and in that order. As it worked out there was an antique bike, maybe '20's vintage in front of my son. The vintage bike was pretty slow so from our little group to those in front of him a large gap appeared in pretty short order. On a particularly sharp corner the vintage bike went wide and almost or even touched the safety sand. He backed off and kept it upright but my 23 year old son took the opportunity to pass as did at least 4-5 more bikes. I never saw my son's bike after that. He said later he was well over 100 at times. Anyway, brother in law and I being much older did crank it up too but I don't think we ever were over 85MPH. Our speed did increase with each lap as we got more comfortable leading to my floorboard scraping in the tight corners. It was truely a blast but would have been more fun 40 years ago on a sportier bike. We were never reprimanded nor saw any sign of anyone trying slow us down. I don't recall how many laps it was but I think we were on the track for 15-20 minutes. I think we did eventually close the gap to the leaders but it was just before the end of the ride.

I have scraped my floor boards on the Road America racecourse after the first few laps. There were no negative results and as stated above, the floorboards are springloaded and hinged with rub blocks on the underside. The scrape sound is very noticeable so the driver will know without doubt. This is not my normal riding style as I don't think I would ride that aggressive on a public road. There's too much chance of road debris and other hazards when away from a controlled surface for me.

Here's one from the Tech Library: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?34281-removed-cassette-added-gauges-done and another http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?8810-Tachometer-Install I thought there was another with more detail with the gauges replacing the radio but I couldn't find it.

push twice to start?

And as you check the cable connections, also check the solenoid behind the cover at the passenger footrest. This is a common place for corrosion too -
I have been using the Wolo brand. I've had it for about 5 years now (moved it from my old bike to the current one). I bought it at O'Reilly Autoparts which happened to be a couple bucks cheaper than the same horn at Harbor Freight. Member CarbonOne sells a bracket with optional wiring kit that makes it easy to install on the right side where the factory is located. - Highly recommended

My wife loves the 2nd gen as the most comfortable I have owned. She didn't care too much for the last one, a RSTD.

20,000 miles and a little less than two years on an Avon Venom. Dunlop E3's front and rear going on this week before I ride it again

That is a good looking dash. We could always bolt our cassette decks onto the handle bars

Leo, check out this website. It says you have ONE! They may not be close to you but you may want to check it out. Where I live the Premium pumps will be ethanol free if they have it. http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=NJ

Since you are the first to inquire it appears that it is your intent to volunteer to head it up. Congratulations!

rear brake pad replacement
vzuden replied to Ay_Dee's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Before pressing the pistons in as Bongobob described you may also want to remove the cover on the master cylinder and cover with a rag or suck some brake fluid out with a syringe. The brake fluid displaced in the caliper needs some place to go. If the brake fluid hasn't been replaced within the last two years, now would be a good time to do that too. -
I have heard of some jacket manufacturers repairing or replacing jackets that have been involved in accidents. Might be worth checking into

I have been using iphone and Ipad for several years now and frequently will "reboot" both with that process.

Lower wind deflectors
vzuden replied to ReinyRooster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If, however, you have passing lamps and then have a relocation bracket added to move the passing lamps away from the fairing allowing easier splitting of the fairing you will need longer bumpers than shown. I installed some stainless bolts and added rubber bumpers found at the hardware store to the ends of the bolts. I believe I modified them slightly and maybe just drilled a hole in the rubber before I glued them on. As stated they need to contact the fork covers and the bolts allowed some adjustment by varying the length via the depth inserted into the rubber -
Jake Wilson. Usually has the E3's with the best price and fast shipping. Careful with deep discounters though. Be sure to check the date code on any new tire. I know of some who have received tires that have been sitting in a warehouse and were at or near the expiration date

Thanks Chuck for the great tours of the area. Best of the last four IR's I have attended. Not home yet but getting close. I left the lodge at 7:30am EDT yesterday and pulled off the road at 11:00pm EDT for the night last night in Rockford Illinois after 15 1/2 hours of traveling. My goal was to make it to near Madison Wisconsin for the night but the second round of rain (1 1/2 hours of light rain) on the trip home wore me out. I had 2 stops beyond fuel stops - 20 mins at a McDonalds somewhere in Ohio and at 15 miles east of Indianapolis to wait out a storm. I saw the skies darkening and pulled off at a rest area to put on the rain gear. I got my luggage covers on and pulled out the rain suit just as the wind hit. Almost pulled it out of my hands. I headed into the cover of the building and watched. Checked the radar and the weather warnings said there were 50mph wind gusts and hail. I didn't see any hail but wondered a few times if the bike was going to get blown off the side stand. I was there for maybe 20-30 minutes and while still raining, the worst was over. Pulled on the rain gear on and hit the road again. Problem with this delay is it put me into Indianapolis right at rush hour with the added feature of rain. I'm not sure how much that delayed me but I had clear sailing until the aforementioned rain a few hours later. This morning I drove the 1 1/2 hours to my son's house to see my new grandson. I will make the four hour trip south to get home tomorrow afternoon.
