My '92 was a retired police bike from Millbrook, AL (I think, or Montgomery) and I purchased it from ebay in March. Pictures, but it didn't come with anything police like, like lights, etc.. It was just a stock Royale, without the trunk, cb or radio equipment. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/vbpicgallery.php?do=big&p=6422#photo I plan on painting it this next summer when it gets too hot to ride.

You didn't say anything that would make me think that. I find myself being too blunt at times, so I often preface what I am saying with an expression to say that this is just my opinion. I'm getting grumpier as I get older.. It is only a matter of time before I'm sitting out front yelling at kids to get off my lawn :)

Oh believe me I do know... I run 3 sites/forums.. I used to get really frustrated with things like people running the board by posting 1 message in each section, etc.. and I'd have to go clean it up, but I have mods on there to do that for me, so I don't have to fool with it anymore. I definetly understand about the chinese/russian spammers.. I deny anyone from gmail from even registering anymore... as it seems like these last couple of years 99% of the spam addresses were from gmail. Just throwing in my opinion was all, sounded like you were fishing for how folks felt about it. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Do the CT's follow the grooves more because the treads run the direction you are traveling? Just wonder why they would do that more than Motorcycle tires?

The classifieds section is a barren area.. If it is related, why not let them post? If it gets out of hand.. you can bring down the ban-hammer and clean it up.

This would be my pick I think... 8x optical zoom, nice big lens, better for inside video than the smaller lens my cam has.. 14mp.. and cheap to boot. See... now I'm jealous Costco Panasonic

Have been very pleased with the Canon SDXXXX IS Series, I'm on my second one, I went swimming with the 1st one. The video is HD. The IS (Image stabilization) makes all the difference in being able to take clear pictures. I think the current model is SD1300 IS..12.1MP's, HD 720p video , it is around $150-170 and is smaller than a pack of smokes. (I can't figure out how to post a link to this and not have it embed the video... ?) If you look at it on youtube you can change it to HD, or I'm sure you could just search youtube for the make/model of a camera you are interested in seeing vids from and you would see a lot of examples Example of video from inside... (You have to switch it to 720p down at the bottom) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bkfp0O51XN4]VIDEO HERE[/ame]

Aftermarket TCI available!
saltcreep replied to tvking63's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
For anyone reading this (This is only for a '92 venture) I know this does not match the schematic, but the coil wires coming from the TCI are (+) 12v and not negative. The L/B (Blue/Red) wire for the fuel pump relay needs a switched negative connection, this is also different from the schematic. I tested this with my original TCI... I at 1st connected the l/b to the gy wire, as that would seem to make the most sense, the bike would crank , but not go above idle, the fuel pump didn't run. I ran a jumper to the l/b to the ground on the battery and the bike runs wonderfully now. I think this will be an ok solution for me as I do not ever leave the bike switched on without it cranked, and the (+) to the fuel pump relay is still handled through the ignition switch. On my xj6 the fuel pump is the same way it is always powered if the car is in Run. I know some others of previous years have said they have noticed reduced power, etc... but in my case I am VERY pleased... My idle was crappy before, the bike lopes at some really low idle now.. have not checked, looks like 500-600rpm. The idle is lower for some reason, I know I need to adjust this, but it would not stay cranked a lot of times at anything below 1000 rpms with my messed up stock tci. My bike would fart & chuff & do mini-backfires coming off the throttle before, it does not do that at all now. It feels like it has more power now.... I know this is just probably because my TCI was really bad off and this is closer to how it should run. really seriously appreciate the work forged by others (Todd!) or I never would have known about this or ever thought to attempt it. Thank you so much Todd & Dingy for all the work you have done to help us all out -

Problem Solved! In the software there was an option for input #1 (Off/Kill/Blocking) It was set to blocking on mine. When I set this to off it fired right up! Ok, I know I need to figure it out so it will kill the bike if the sidestand is down or it has fallen over, but IT WORKS! My documentation shows the same chart, the pin #8 on the Ignitech plug is going to the B/W wire on the 6-prong plug which goes to the kickstand/fallover safety switches. So it should be a ground coming in. I think maybe that should be in position #7 instead of #8, like on tvking's picture. -

If you have a minute can you look at this and see if I am missing something... I have not tested to see if I am getting 12v from the Ignition coil plugs from the Ignitech unit, that is my next step. I am not getting spark to any plugs... with the stock TCI I get one spark on all cylinders on initial crank and then no more, with the ignitech no spark at all. In the video it showing RPM and it looks like it thinks that it is firing the coils, so I am guessing my p/u coil is fine. Thanks man! That is very helpful. The Yamaha one was not right as far as fuel pump goes. On the 83 model the fuel pump relay was powered by the ignition it seems, and on my unit the power for it comes from the TCI... That pin does not have anything connected on the Ignitech unit. The Blue/Red wire is not connected I mean. Forgive my ignorance here, but will the fuel pump cut off if I power the relay from the ignition when it builds up pressure? I see there is a fuel pump pin on the ignitech, but I'm looking for simplicity ---------------- I am not getting a start, it doesn't show error codes on the pickup or coils on my laptop when trying to start it. Everything seems ok on how it is hooked up , I am not sure about the coils from the ignitech being hooked to the correct coils on the bike. It just came in yesterday afternoon, so I'm still troubleshooting. My bike was not starting before receiving the ignitech unit either.. maybe a pickup coil problem. -

Can you tell me with the Ignitech box in place does your bike activate the fuel pump when you 1st turn the key on? Mine came in yesterday, as far as I can tell it appears to be wired correctly. The diagram of the TCI Wiring is for the MK I and mine appears to be a good bit different, I have the wiring diagram from the service manual, but that does not show all of the connections, it just list the wire colors from their plug and then you can trace them down in the schematic. -
I WISH! I was leaned over in the front using the trolling motor and bumped a piling and lost my balance... Grabbed the piling and I was wrapped around this barnacle encrusted thing... and just slid straight down, I still have scars on my legs..... but dang, I bet it looked hilarious! and I'm sure I would have laughed had I seen it Yamaduck: I don't have such a gifted olfactory appendage as this fellow... it never touched my nose... I just couldn't ever find any other god place to put it.

This is how I mounted mine from this guys idea... He has sample video at about 2:50 & 3:40 also, and it looks a lot better than through my rainy helmet lens... It is VERY well worth the $13 I paid for it .. $7 for the camera and $6 for shipping. I bought it to attach to a RC plane but have just used it for all sorts of weird things... I even fell off the boat with it (it has a lanyard included) and killed another camera and my cell phone but this el-cheapo thing still works. Wait I paid $13 for it on ebay... Looks like they are only about $10 now. I have one and it works great outdoors. Link to Ebay Ads: (or just look for MD80 Video Camera) http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=md80+camera&_sacat=0&LH_BIN=1&_odkw=md80&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313 This was velcroed in my helmet, not a great example because it was raining and there is rain over the lens [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTXKjXkBkDs]YouTube - Rainy Day Ride[/ame]

Ordered this morning via Paypal for my Mk II 158.33 Euros / $205.81 USD Will report back when I get it I am not sure if my tci is bad or good in my bike, I am working through some issues now where I only get one spark on each cylinder when trying to start. In the worse case I will have a backup TCI which seems to be a good idea. -

I'm getting closer with them. They said they also have the box I need along with the correct cables. I am trying to get it ordered but it is a bit of a process... they should be sending me an invoice for paypal payment tomorrow. I was just having a hard time figuring out how I order and pay for this, language barrier and all -
To me it looks like something only a mother could love, reminds me of a pug or one of those small breeds with their nose chopped off.

Some spark, then no spark
saltcreep replied to saltcreep's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I've spent the day going over it. I checked the sidestand switch Tested that the TCI is getting proper voltage, voltage drops to around 11volts while cranking. I removed the kill/safety wire. (Blk/Wht) (no change) If I disconnect the pickup coil it does not even do the initial spark. I don't think this is related, I think it is just another darned demon I need to find, but thought I should mention it: Yesterday the bike kept cutting off when I would come to a stop sign and was slow to crank over, I would throw it into gear and start it back up before I came to a complete stop, I had a foot soaked with anti-freeze and it overheated a bit. I refilled it with fluid and none has leaked out , I really have absolutely no idea what that was about. I think maybe it was overheating the whole time is why it was cutting off and I just didn't realize what was going on. I am trying to test the coils, but still fuzzy on what I'm doing there. If anyone has any other ideas I would love to hear them, I absolutely love this thing, everything about it, but it is possessed I think. -
My bike is a 1992 Venture Royale. I had thought my TCI is bad, still might be, but I am stumped on what is going on with this bike now. This is an intermittent problem... sometimes the bike works just fine. I have spark at all 4 plugs when initially cranking, maybe for 1-2 cycles and then no spark to any of them. The bike will crank over once , sound like it wants to fire and then nothing else.... If I try long enough I get a really loud backfire. The spark seems like it might be a bit weak also. I'm googling and searching the forum and purusing the manual, but not sure what to check for since it has spark on the initial revolution. Could this be a pickup coil problem.?

I am trying to order the Ignitech unit for a 1992, they sent me a picture of a venture tci, maybe it is the 86-89 Unit, but the wire colors do not match the colors of my unit or the colors on the 1985 tech drawing that is floating around the board. Can someone who has successfully ordered one of these units help me on what to expect and what I need to tell them, I told them my Motorcycle Model/Make/Yr and my address and all I got was the attached picture from them, that I am not sure on the color coding. Sorry to be a bother, thank you, Brandon -
Put in PCW spring/Skydoc's clutch upgrade now clutch lever won't move
saltcreep replied to LilBeaver's topic in Watering Hole
What was the cause of the non-op lever? Was it the pressure plate not being seated properly? Ran into this Sat, and could not find a resolution, but I think my problem may be the Clutch master cylinder (1st gen) and have ordered a rebuild kit for that.
