  1. Here's the note we left ourselves on where we parked the bikes!
  2. Wish I'd known you would be in Nashville tonight, I'd sprung for ya a banana split!
  3. On my last ride in East Tennessee, I decided to visit the Dragon. While I was in no hurry, I was still making a pretty good clip not just puttin. A group of crotch rockets tore past me like a bump in the road. The bikes were loaded and decked out with all the latest speed stuff and the drivers were in full leather with expensive looking helmets and boots. The thing that got my attention more than that was that each one had a gal on the back with nothing but a helmet, sneakers, and a bikini. They were wrapped around those guys tight with their aaaaaatributes stuck up in the air. I hope they never go down! At least I saw none of the bikinis on the tree of shame.
  4. Most clubs use 25 years and over as Vintage but this is open for anyone as long as space lasts. Yours would be very welcome. It is always fun and even the newer campers join in. Saturday afternoon we will have a pot luck dinner, just bring a dish and join us in the club house. Look for our 69 Volunteer, you can't miss it. We will be at B16 I think it is. We're going in Wed evening and living out Sunday afternoon. Warning, watch out for Polly. You never know when Polly will sneak into your camp.
  5. Mister River in Walland, tn. is having a vintage camper rally. We will be there with our 1969 Volunteer trailer. Walland is half way between Maryville and Townsend. We rally there twice a year. It is right off the foothills parkway so if your in the area, come see us! http://www.mistyriverrv.com/vintagecamperrally/vintagecamperfall09.html
  6. Water is too deep to ride through so I need some bad!
  7. Sounds like a possibility to me, Whatcha thin YD? I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours! Wait...I mean seat!!!
  8. if there was a way to put a 87 venture drivers backrest on a 84
  9. The Venture I call Blu while riding and the only thing I've been able to say while riding the Vmax is YARRRRRRRG!!!!!
  10. The shifter lost the lock down screw and slid off the splines on my 84 Venture. I pushed it back on and got another nut. I put it in neutral and adjusted the shift rod until the light came on. When I tried riding it, I would have to stomp it hard to go into first. When I parked, the neutral light would not come on again. I would see it blink as I passed through to second. I tried the adjust twice more and each time, it would lose the light after shifting through the gears and first was still tricky. The Yamaha Service manual is no help. Any ideas OH GURUS of the TRIPPLE TUNNG FORKS?
  11. Yeah, me too. I am sure glad he did not finish it for whatever reason.
  12. You would rethink rush hour on 1-24, 1-40, or especially I-65 in Nashville also. Even if it is one person in the car, they will jump in the HOV lane so they can get to the selected exit in a hurry while diving out of it if they think they see a cop ahead and then cross several lanes of traffic to make the exit. All without slowing down. I average getting cut off twice a day. There also seems to be a magnetic field that will not let turn signals work here though it does take a lot of effort to reach for them.
  13. Forgot to mention...The paperwork is supposed to be here tomorrow. CLEAN Title!!!!
  14. I found instructions in the tool bag for a chain drive conversion. At close inspection the bolts have been removed from the third gear. Obviously it did not work out for him.
  15. Yep, I'm finding several loose and stripped screws in the panels
  16. I am afraid there is truth to that. It was her first husbands bike. He was a cop and did not make it home one day. The Title is clear and from New York. I wish he could have come home and enjoyed it but I will certainly toast his memory when that third gear is changed out. I guess you could call it a legacy of sorts. She still has his sportster and road king. She plans to keep them.
  17. Yep...The Fiero is another cheap deal I found. Runs great but Got to pull the tank and change the pump
  18. I love riding my gen1 but I kept getting the itch to sport about town with a little more humph then Blu has. A lady in Memphis offered to sell me an old Yamaha that was taking up room in her garage. I have a couple of Seca 750 yammies and thought this one might at least be good for parts at $500 bucks. I took the trailer over to get it. In the garage, I found a 2001 VMAX with 4500 miles on the clock. I told her it was worth more but she said to get it away from her so I paid her and left. I knew it had not been run for several years and expected the worst. I went to drain the gas but found none. I checked the carbs and cleaned something oily from them but they were clean. I drained the fluids and changed them, put in the gas, put on a new battery and it fired right up. It had cobra slip ons and sounded like the hotrod it is. I noticed a large amount of oil leaking around the third gear and the cover on the thirdgear is bent. I bought the whole assembly and look forward to dropping the swingarm and changing it out. The bike is perfect, paint and all except for one corner of the middle seat which a rat or dog or something got. I think I have it all now! Two bikes for two kinds of riding!
  19. Hey Guys! Oh and ladies! The guy could not get the money for ole Blu so I get to keep it! I've been riding and getting used to the bike but one thing still drives me nuts. Every bump I hit causes rattles from the front fairing. I have tried to tighten and secure everything but it is still there. Any insight from the pros? I found that it is much more fun to change the plugs on my gen 1 then it is on a royal touring. Whew!
  20. Raced dirt track and outlaws from 15 years of age then went to drag racing. Owned a speed shop and managed a drag strip for a few years and changed over to being an engineer in Video Production. Been there since but the hands are trying to go and the brain is getting fuzzy. What were we talking about?
  21. I took Blu out for a couple hours today and i almost feel human again. I was down to the last fuel bar and still had enough seafoam to cause a let of very smelly smoke. It took a bit to warm up but once it ran a bit, I took to the road. I rode it to the station and filled up. there was just a bit of flutter taking off but after a few min on the interstate, everything smoothed out and she was silk again. I had not ridden it since I had trouble with height and almost dumped it at a stop sign. After Yammer Dan and others helped me through the settings, I got a mud wasp nest out of the shock area and I could flat foot her. I decided to go play in the slow traffic and get used to it. I was amazed that I never had to put my feet down until I was totally stopped. She balanced very well even going really slow. I tried some tight turns. It was no effort to pull into a parking space in an empty lot pull through the spot and u back into the third spot with no problem. As much as I would like a RSV, I hope the guy does not come up with the money this weekend. Thanks for the help guys!
  22. Well he hasn't paid yet. But it shouldn't take long to find a nice lil RSV somewhere. I think that is what I really want.
  23. The temps are in the 60's the next few days. I finally get the chance to bring out my Venture! I did not roll it out in the sun for ten minutes before someone showed up interested in buying it!. I priced it high I though but she is a beauty. Well if he brings the cash, I will have no option but to start shaking the bushes for a deal on a RSV! Thanks for you help on getting it to be such an outstanding bike guys!...oh, and you too ladies!
  24. Have you got that fresh gas in yet? I got too much seafoam in mine and it ran awful and backfired often. Once I ran it down to the last bar and filled it up, she smoothed out and ran pretty. Still got a flutter about 3500 rpm but I have not gotten all that seafoam out yet.
