  1. I guess i did the all at one time but in my defense, I thought you were supposed to drive on the rumble strips to let you know you were in your own lane?!
  2. Sorry, thought I ws searching but managed to post instead...time for a nap.
  3. One of my friends glues a mirror to the top of his shoe....wait, that was for something else...sorry.
  4. Rode it once on a star 1100 classic and again on a HD XR1200. Ride was ok but the most fun was talking with the other riders at Deals gap and a couple of scenic outlooks. Ate a great burger at Deals Gap. There are so many other great riding roads through the smokies that are a lot more relaxing but the dragon and its screaming demons are great for a few moments of pucker.
  5. Hang in there!!! Springs coming...ahem...Spring is coming?....right? It is isn't it?!!!! :nanner:
  6. If you ride the land between the Lakes, be sure to eat at Patties settlement near the dam end (North west)of the ride. I suggest the pork chops.

  8. 8 inches of snow turning to ice as the temp last night was 9 degrees but that's all right I got a 4x4x with new tires right? Wrong! 4x4 went out so now it is only two wheel but that's all right as long as I'm careful then everything else is good...WRONG!!! the heater blower quit. I might as well ride the BIKE!!! NO MO Winter!!! please:225:
  9. DANG!!! WELL I kept trying but I would have to go back and make more money. I'm glad you cleared that up for me. I thought it was a dare:crackup:
  10. Ice storms and 5 inches of snow predicted for middle tn this weekend.
  11. You will always have trouble and get a little "off track" at first but you adjust in a few days. I wore them for years and then started getting so everything was fuzzy with my normal vision. My eye doc took my progressives, gave me a set of readers and made me wear them awhile. my normal vision cleared. He said that I bumped and twisted my frames so much at my job that they were never center and that strained my vision. I tote readers now and do fine.
  12. I thought all those Nigerian scams was Obama trying to raise money for all his Polosi....I mean policies.!?!? I love my country but I fear my government.
  13. Be sure to let me know when your coming through and I'll see if i can arrange you an escort through the Volunteer State!
  14. We replaced our News fleet of xteras with Subarus. They have been perfect except for the reporters that try to drive them. They can't seem to go around things.
  15. Hmmm...Maybe I should just be patient and watch for a stock MKI drivers backrest. Thanks for the info
  16. I have loved Canada and its people since the first time I drove across the border and saw the big sign that said Drink canada Dry. But please please please keep that Artic air to yourselves!!! :cold:
  17. Thanks loads guys. I wantesd a backrest and this one has it.
  18. Does anyone have a clue if a seat from a 88 venture will fit an 84. Guy has one that he swears will fit my 1200 but I prefer a more dependable answer.
  19. I'm convinced. Ya'll yell ifin ya sees a backrest fer an 84 venture!
  20. Nashbird has a 2006 RSTD with a set. It has a deep rumble at low rpm but when he gets on it, it sounds like a small block chevy. Really cool pipes! I like em:banana:
  21. I have ridden Vstar 1100's the last several years and I noticed that I could ride much further with the driver backrest then I could without. I can only make a couple hundred miles on the Vstar before my lower back says enough. I plan on riding some three day weekends and try to meet a few of you wonderful people out there on my 84 1st gen. It seems pretty comfy but I have not ridden far yet. Would it be worthwhile to pickup a backrest if one comes available or in your experience, does the stock seat bode well?
  22. I had 8 in the rear. I got both down to 7 but it was still tall. I bounced up an down a few times really hard and there was a crunch. I checked everything to see what I broke but I found nothing. I brought the air back up and then down again and got both feet flat on the floor. I'm not sure what happened but I had to clean a mud wasp nest from the floor. the bike had been sitting a lot before I got it.
  23. I tried this like you suggested and had it done in 15 min. It would have been quicker but I did not pay close attention when I took the switch apart that the choke lever mounted to. Thanks Man, I would have done it the hard way without your wisdom!
  24. My Dad said never so I managed to trade for a trail bike and rebuilt it out in the woods where I kept it hid. I also snuck out at night and drove a hobby car at the local dirt track. Started building choppers just out of school until I hit a deer at 80 and woke up two weeks later. I stayed away from the street but raced Enduro and moto for awhile. I got a Yammir 850 special and went back to the street. When my son decided to ride street, I traded hime the 850. He decided a sportster was cooler and got rid of the 850. I was riding a classic 1100 and he would not ride with me in case one of the HD people saw us. There was no need to say no, he would ride anyway. My youngest daughter would ride everywhere I went. She was ready to ride anytime. When she turned 16 she did not want a car, she wanted a bike. I made her take the riders training and ace it before I would get her one. She rode a 125 until I felt comfortable enough to let her ride a honda spirit 750. She got a car when she left for college but when she comes home to visit, she always brings the helmet. It is on display in her dorm room. The son gave up the HD as he could not afford the upkeep and does not street ride now. Just get him in the training class and he will make the right decision.
