After you take it for a longer ride, you'll have to give us your opinion about that bike. The magazines like it but you never know if they are a little bias.

From what I can see in the service manual, the Twinkie is the crank case breather. I'm not sure if coolant runs through it.

I just received the Diamond R leveling links the other day. Since I have the bike on the lift I thought I'd take a look and see what that job would entail. I held the new links up to the OEM ones and they appear to be the same length. How do they work if they are the same length.

Thanks for the advice. This isn't the first bike I've owned. I had an 85 Honda Shadow 1100 that had a fork seal start to leak but it was obvious why, the seals were cracking because of age. The dealer did say he would call Yamaha to try to get them to fix it under warranty. If it realy is leaking and Yamaha doesn't warranty it, I'll either do it myself (not sure what's involved) or take it to a non-Yamaha dealer closer to home that I trust.

I took my 08 RSV to the dealer to have a major service done . The service mgr call to tell me that one of the fork seals is leaking. I inquired about whether it's a warranty issue and he told me he didn't thinks so that the factor considers this normal wear, like brake pads. Oh yeah, I have just under 30k miles. Has any one else dealt with this will still in warranty? Thanks, Rich

Thanks for the link. I also appreciate the rest of the comments here. I learn a lot from these kind of conversations.

I am going to upgrade my stator soon. I can't seem to find a "how to" in the second gen tech section. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks,

$439, just as well price them at $1,000. They just about give them away with a new activation or a renewal of your contract. I go my Incredible 2 the very week the came out and got it for $99. If I hadn't been so lazy I would have got it at Costco for $79 but they only had it at that price for three days. By the way, I like this phone.

Yeah, I didn't order mine from CC because of the shipping. There have been other things that I wouldn't buy from them because of shipping charges.
-
Good to know about DHL. I'm glad you have this resolved. I have had great service from CC but I always call if there's an issue. My only gripe is the shipping cost. I only live about 30 miles from them and even on small items like speed bleeders the charge me $8.95 for shipping. You could put those in an envelope and mail them for less than a buck. I'd go pick them up if the had a will call but they don't.

Sad but true

Just a little off topic.

Just so you know, you don't need your local Chapter President's permission to seek out another chapter. Also, if you join STAR Touring you don't have to join a chapter. In fact, as a STAR member with no chapter affiliation you are a "member at large" and can ride with any chapter on any "official chapter rides" and can participate in any "official chapter events and meetings". You just can't vote in any chapter.

If it helps, here is a list of STAR Chapters in your area, and links to the NY and PA areas. http://www.startouring.org/chapterlist.aspx?id=NY http://www.startouring.org/chapterlist.aspx?id=PA Mt. I contend that while riding in staggered formation you are really only entitled to half the lane, except in an emergency. That's why maintaining a minimum of two seconds between bikes is so important. A three second gap would be much better but it's hard to get everyone to keep that spacing. As far as riding in the twisties, single file is the only way to go, and I don't mean follow the leader. I mean ride your own ride. Take the whole lane, ride the path through the turns that you are most comfortable with. You don't have to follow the path of the bike in front of you. Spacing is even more important in the twisties because many times you can't see very far around the turn. If a bike in front of you loses it and you are too close, you might not have time to react. Part of every one of my ride briefings deals with spacing.

Intersection #3. If you're going to ride in staggered formation, you should maintain your lane position even in turns.

Let me just say up front that I'm not an Apple user, I prefer a PC. I don't have an iPod I have an MP3 player. I don't use an iPhone I have a Droid. That being said, the world is a much different place today because of Steve Jobs' INNOVATIONS. His forward thinking cause other technology companies to keep up and try to get ahead of Apple. The result, we have all benefited because of him. Also, I don't care what kind of person he was, I didn't work for him, I didn't know him, I had never met him. Steve Jobs change the world. My

Actually, as of the beginning of this year, the Presidents aren't required to own a Star motorcycle. In our chapter we has most of the major manufactures. We even have a couple Scooters.
-
Well, sometimes they doesn't need any adjusting, but I always check.

After you do it a few times, you'll be a pro. I do mine every time I change my oil.

I've been a STAR Touring member for three years and am the President of Chapter 186, Contra Costa Ca. We have a great group of people that loves to ride. Our Motto is, "Ride in the sticks with 186", and we do just that. I wouldn't ride as much as I do if I wasn't involved with with this STAR chapter.

That's pretty funny. I wonder what movie they were suppose to be seeing?

I say that. I'm not a fan. Looks hokey to me.
