Ok it has now been a couple of days and I am done for now. I changed the fluids exept for the radiator which I plan on doing my next days off, new sneakers front and back and a trailer hitch that I got from a nice member from here and found some unexpected things from the po that I fixed, I did have a problem with the bike falling over when I went to put the back tire on but good thing it fell on the grass side of the driveway now I am definitely ready to do the tail of the dragon........now I need to wash off all the greasy paw prints and shine it up.

I bought this 86 a few months ago for the bigger bags and sold my 84 now I can say I hate the 86. I went to make it tip top so I can make it to Vogel this summer with new tires oil and filter changes and new front springs with a trailer hitch. The things I have to unbolt and take off to do simple maintenance compared to my 84 is killing me I sometimes wish for my 84 back, I need help...lol

I am going to camp out at the Cabbage Patch for bike week this weekend the Th-Th and if the slave cylinder is not in for my bike I will still go with my truck and cruise around and try to hit the speedway.

When I bought the 86 Vr the owner said the hydraulic clutch needed to be rebuilt and when I played with it that is all it seemed to be. I had spare rebuild kits for the master cylinder and slave so I went about fixing it today and low and behold someone had tried fixing the slave and ruined the housing now I need to find a slave cylinder housing.

This is the new to me VR that I got for 700$ The carbs need to be cleaned but runs good with the choke partially on. It has some rash on the fairing from the guy dropping it in the garage but everything works on the bike the only problem I have is that it is in Kilometers not US standards, oh and it has an oil leak and needs the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder rebuilt from sitting so long. It only has 71,000 km on it witch is only about 44,000 miles so I think I did good. And I need to know how to take off the damn stickers on the fake gas tank cover....

Sarasota, Florida - Anyone want to host a Maintenance day in March?
tufftom4 replied to exrsa1's topic in Watering Hole
I live almost directly across on the east coast and if you need tools I can load up my truck and head over to help. Tom -
I am going tomorrow to go look at this bike and from what he tells me I think it will be in my garage. I just need to find a trailer hitch for it. http://treasure.craigslist.org/mcy/2195401066.html

A little set back today, I went for a ride around lake Okeechobee today and kept smelling gas and watched the gas gauge go down so I came back home and found 1 of the carbs needle valve stuck open so I used my compressor and blew it out and took it for a ride and it seems to work. When the carbs do work it is a bat outta hell I can't wait to go to bike week in Daytona.
