My wife and I are both big Celine fans also. I've never seen her Vegas show but we went to see her in concert when she came to Dallas back when we lived there. It was a very good concert and I'm sure that it pales in comparison to her Vegas show.

Well...the way you describe it now..it actually sounds like ANOTHER cat. Hmmmmmm.....

I'll bet somebody had changed them on the '99. Mine had the round head from the factory but I changed them to regular bolts long ago.

Yep...I think that Tom has nailed it.

Well, I have used it before and for many years. It was under more severe circumstances though. I used to use it on a 1984 Jeep CJ7 on a lot of the connectors but I was really doing some off-roading back in those days. That was back in the mid eighties. I was an electrician then and worked power plant maintenance so had ready access to it. I don't know why the RSV is so prone to these audio connector problems. I just have to assume that it has something to do with the type of connectors they used. Perhaps the pins do not mate tightly enough or something. I can't tell you but I can tell you that I had some issues myself before doing it.

I THINK it is the red one. It really doesn't matter because while you are in there, you should unplug them all and do the dielectric grease trick on all 5 of them. Here are some pictures that show what they look like. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15370

1st gen COP's coil install/help
Freebird replied to dingy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Here is a discussion that I found on another site. It seems that on the Honda, there is a black wire with a white stripe that is the negative. It seems from the pictures that would mean the the right pin is probably the negative or common. http://www.superhawkforum.com/forums/knowledge-base-40/coil-cap-mod-23004/ -

Well, I would not think that you would hurt a thing in the world if you had the polarity wrong. The only other way I see to tell would be to look at the wiring diagram of the bike that they came off of. It is obvious that the wiring harness would only plug in one way. If you could see the wiring harness you might be able to tell which pin is positive and which is negative. Also, are the pins the same size? It seems that the positive and negative pins on some coils are a different width to distinguish them. I'm even thinking that the pins on my RSV coils are different widths but I don't remember for sure and am not home to look. -

I may be wrong but I actually think that they will fire either way. -
hmmm....I just tried your username and skydoc_17 and both worked.

I agree. I can't attest to the fact that they are or are not crap but they are WAY overpriced. Somebody has to pay for all that advertising but it won't be me.

Just sent him an email also.

No, it is not me that has the spacer blocks and in fact, I actually don't even recommend them for a couple of reasons. A lot of folks here like them but I am not on that list. I just don't find it that difficult to remove the light bar with the proper tool. I don't like the way the lights look when they are spaced out. I think that it promotes the cracking of the lower deflector brackets as they have a rubber bumper that SHOULD rest on the upper fork covers. If it is not touching the covers, it allows them to vibrate and flex more and break much easier.

LOL....no....I do NOT have that installed here. I actually briefly considered it once a LONG time ago but just couldn't bring myself to do that to anybody.

R12Guy's membership expired in 2010. I just sent him an email to see if he still has it.

I've ridden the dragon several times. I've seen very bad crashes at least 3 times and at least two of those were due to head on collisions because somebody had crossed over that line. The worse I saw was not the bikers fault. A Mazda Miata came around a curve well across the center line and hit a sport bike head on.

I can't answer your question. I know that the one in my shield was for the 1500 but I don't know if the one for the 1800 is different or not. I know that it was not a perfect fit. The curvature was fine but the Clearview shield that I put it in was a bit too thick. I made it work but it wouldn't snap together like it is supposed to. I think I ended up using some clear silicone to hold it together.

Brookdale, Was it actually labeled as a Deka? I don't even need a battery I don't think but at that price, I would buy one anyway. They don't show any Deka batteries on their website and they don't show any specials on what they do have.

I've had the Goldwing center vent and the round vents on each side of it installed for probably 5 years now. So far, no issues at all. Now I'm not saying that it helps all that much to have three vents but that's just the way it ended up. I don't even remember why. If I were doing it again, I would probably just go with one or the other. After using both, I think that I actually prefer the Goldwing vent. The round ones work fine but you need to be VERY careful that you don't get the holes too big. I used the right hole saw and then just very lightly sanded the rough edges off and it is just loose enough that the vents sometimes will close on their own. On the other hand....they are easier to clean because they don't catch the bugs like the Wing vent does. For that reason, I actually prefer the round vents. But I do think that the Wing vent is a better operating mechanism. That is why I prefer the Wing vent. On the other hand, the round vents can be rotated to better direct the air flow and that is why I prefer the round vents. hmm.............I've confused me now.....

Yes, I think that is the problem. I've never heard of it either. Sorry, would like to be more help.

I think that this is the diagram for the RSTD bars and weights. You will see that item 4 is a long allen head bolt. The RSV does not have this bolt, they are a one piece machined piece. http://www.partshark.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=75066&category=Motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=2005&fveh=1732 Here is the list for the RSV, it does not have the bolt but the end of the weights are actually threaded instead. http://www.partshark.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=557621&category=motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=2008&fveh=12947

No, you are correct. They do have a hole for a hex wrench under the chrome cap. It turns the entire weight to screw them off though. I think he is saying that the RSTD has a separate long bolt that goes all the way through the weights. The RSV is all one machined piece.

windshield hardcoating
Freebird replied to Kirby's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I don't have a great answer but I know that too much polishing of a coated shield will remove and ruin the shield. I would think that any type of good plastic polish would remove it. Maybe one of the kits that they sell to restore the "yellowing" plastic headlights? To be honest, I pretty much considered a shield with the coating removed to be ruined. The coating adds hardness to resist scratches and etc. You will probably get by with it for a while but I wouldn't expect it to look good for very long. It may last a long time if you are VERY careful with how you clean it though.- 7 replies

I don't think so. My '99 has the same kind as you are picturing. I think he is saying that the RSTD weight have a allen head bolt that goes all the way through the weights and then into a threaded hole in the end of the bars. If I read it correctly.
