For any of you using a Mac or even some Mac programs. Just something to be aware of. http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/02/04/apple-releases-major-security-update-for-os-x/?intcmp=features

What are some of your favorite I PHONE / ANDROID apps?
Freebird replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
Unless something has changed, the guitar amp programs, Amplitude and Ampkit are only available for Iphone. I really like them though. They let you use your Iphone for a modeling amp. I use it in hotels. I just plug my guitar into my phone, select the amp model I want to use, put on a set of headphones or earbuds and jam away. You do have to buy a "dongle" that allows your guitar to plug into the Iphone. -
The mic on the RSV is ALWAYS hot. Push to talk is only for the CB. Intercom is hot all the time unless you have the Mic-Mute or some other cut-off devise installed. It doesn't matter if you are listening to audio or not...when the bike is running the mic is hot for intercom. Now if you never have a passenger, just turn the intercom volume all the way down and you should be fine.

That's a good list. I have items 2, 4 and 5 on my Iphone. I don't have the Guitar Tuner because I have Amplitude, Guitar Toolkit and AmpKit which all have tuners built in. OK....most of my other favorites requite "jailbreaking" the Iphone. I jailbroke mine the day after it became available for the Iphone 4S. Automatically you get Cydia when you jailbreak. That gives you access to MANY new apps that Apple doesn't allow. So some of these are not available via the Apple App Store. Some that I have installed are: Guitar Toolkit Amplitude AmpKit PDANet TapaTalk Winterboard Ring.Tones SBSettings Convert Activator Camera+ IFile Craigslist Ebay PayPal Good for when I travel are Choice Hotels USPS Mobile -
OK smarty....there is no MANUAL safety that you would have to click on and off. Now if you want to get even MORE picky...I guess the trigger safety COULD be considered manual but you are going to automatically take care of that one when put your finger on the trigger and start squeezing it.

That's correct and momentarily pressing either push to talk button, rider or passengers, will toggle both mics on and off. It's amazing how much quieter it is with the mics off and/or how much better your music sounds.

Here is a pretty darn good video showing the installation of the Mic-Mute on a Honda Goldwing. Many of us here have the Mic-Mute on our Royal Star Ventures and I honestly think that it is one of the best things you can do to improve the audio system on these bikes. The installation is obviously different on the RSV but the components and operation is pretty much the same. On the RSV, you have to split the fairing but it's really a pretty simple installation. Also, we already have the passenger push to talk switch. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvBfCKVT_PM&feature=player_embedded]Mic-Mutes Install on 2012 Honda Goldwing GL1800 - YouTube[/ame]

A safety is not an issue with the Glock. There's NOT one.

I meant to mention one other thing. You may notice that a Facebook cookie was NOT added to my computer. Fox News does indeed have Facebook and Twitter buttons or their pages so it apparently does not happen with all sites. It probably depends upon how each site implements the button and code. After posting those pictures, I played around a bit more. I picked up a LOT more cookies at various FoxNews pages. I never did pick up a Facebook cookie but I DID pick up a Twitter cookie.
-
Well I tell you, in that price range, it looks like a pretty decent trailer. Aluminum frame, torsion axle, chrome wheels and a cooler rack. Not bad for that kind of money.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. I enabled "accept third party cookies" on my browser. I went to my usual home page, Fox News. I cleared all my cookies except for Fox News and VentureRider.org. The first picture shows my cookies at that point. Then I simply refreshed my browser page one time, still on my home page of Fox News and the the second picture shows the cookies that were added. I never left Fox News and have never visited any of those other sites. Note, this is even though I am opted out at the links I previously posted. Almost all major commercial websites to this.
-
There are a LOT of advertisers that put cookies on your machine without you ever visiting their page. If you browse the internet with third party cookies enabled, you will many in a very short time. The only way to really block them is to block third party cookies and then ad exceptions for sites that you visit frequently that won't let you enter without cookies enabled. Companies like AdClick, DoubleClick, Adblade and MANY others place cookies on your machine all the time even though you never visit their sites. Though it is not well documented for obvious reasons, Google does offer some opt out options to opt out of many of the tracking cookies that companies put on your system. Here are a couple of links where you can do so. http://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/?hl=en&hl=en&sig=ACi0TChQ-hI-sBOszjfv6d0UP63NCRXWIZlOVT-tnuc10EIGnAkCQvmRZTolihe_-3SuHWkFC_uRjxiYjQ-W2qYXB8mBPFQ1MQ&hl=en http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp# That being said, I do use Facebook and will continue to do so. I may not like everything that they do but at the same time, Facebook has allowed me to reconnect with some friends that I lost track of many years ago. There are a couple that I hadn't seen or heard from since the early 70's and though I had looked for them many times over the years, it was only through Facebook that I finally reconnected with them. I'm not extremely active on Facebook but I do have an account and I do use it.
-
I don't think I have ever heard of that one. Do you have a link to their website?
-
You better watch yourself. You'll be sitting in the corner with Yammer.
-
To the best of my knowledge, the only reason that VentureRider installs cookies is to keep up with your password, the threads that you have already read, new threads, etc. They are not tracking cookies. I don't WANT to know where else you go.

We were always Canon fans back when we used 35mm. I still have a nice 35mm Canon but can't remember the last time it was used. I guess we are a Nikon family now. My wife has a 3500 and my son has.....not sure...higher end than the 3500. I THINK it's a 9000 or 9..something.

You know, MarCarl is a longtime member here and has helped more people than you can possibly know. You haven't been here long enough to know the various personalities and understand when people are teasing. On the other hand, this is the second time that you have made a post about not joining due to some post that you didn't like. In your mind, that may be strike 2 for MarCarl but you are a decimal point from strike three. We tease and have fun here in a lot of different areas, not just the watering hole. If you are looking for such strict discipline, this may not be the right place for you.

Yes, it seems to work just fine if you simply enter the date into the search field. You will likely get better results if you use the "google" option int he search drop down menu and then select "venturerider". Just enter the date as you see it formatted at the top of the threads and it seems to work OK.
-
I'm not aware of such an option. I'll take a look tonight and see if it is something that I can add.

It is not really uncommon. I've seen many such reports over the years. My '99 cracked in the same place but I was way out of warranty. I have heard several reports where Yamaha replaced them under warranty and also reports of some dealers claiming that it wasn't covered. I certainly SHOULD be covered so fight for it if your bike is still under warranty.

Venture handle bars to RSTD handle bars the easy way
Freebird replied to Bubber's topic in Watering Hole
I wish I could help but I installed the Flanders bars on mine and I don't know how they compare. I replace the clutch, brake and throttle cables with SS. They were all 2" longer than stock.- 19 replies

Have you look at Howard's Horns? They use the larger trumpets if that is what you are looking for. I've seen them installed on a lot of Ventures of the years before the more compact models got popular. http://www.howardshorns.com/

Well, I got it removed but it took some research. First I deleted the partitions and then resized my Windows 7 partition to recover the space. Then I booted with a repair disk and ran bootrec.exe /fixmbr to remove the boot loader. All is back to normal again. It will be a LONG time before I ever do that again.

OK...I installed mint on my laptop. Dual boot with Windows 7. I checked it out for a while and am just no all that impressed. I just like Windows 7. Now I wish I hadn't installed it. Removing it is going to be a major pain.
