  1. I am 44 and ride an 08 machine, bought it new in feb of 08 and now have 20,000 miles on it.
  2. Has the st jude ride been scheduled for this year? I havent been able to locate any info about it and was hoping to be able to go again.
  3. Murphy never leaves me! Sometimes I swear they named Murphy's law for me!
  4. Makes sense! I will definately get all fluids changed this weekend. Going that far from home and with noone else going with us I really don't want to risk having something break just so I can save a few bucks. I never really thought about it much I guess, just always thought that was some gimmick to let the dealers make more money or something. Thanks for the info!
  5. Just out of curiosity, why did old fluid make your clutch do that? I am concerned because mine has never been changed and has 20,000 miles on it! I will definately get the bike thoroughly serviced before we leave but I would like to know what happens to make it do that.
  6. Looks like Beartooth is hands down the favorite ride so far, we will definately have to do that one and probably the Chief Joseph as well!
  7. Looks like we will finally be making the trip to Yellowstone and beyond in about six weeks! I know that it will be a little late in the year for some of the places that we want to see but it is just not possible for me to take off in the middle of the summer for that long. I would like to see if anyone who has made this trip can reccommend any must see places along the way. Neither one of us has ever been out that far and we would like to see and do as much as possible while there. We will be leaving here on the 17th of september and planning to be back on the 2nd of october. Hope to be able to go all the way up to Glacier Natl Park then head on back. If the weather doesn't cooperate we may have to alter those plans. Will probably run a couple of long days at first to try and get at least into Colorado then we will sort of play it by ear, if we find a place where we would like to spend a couple of days I don' want to be on such a tight schedule that it would be difficult. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Murph
  8. Sorry, will try to get pictures up tomorrow! It is a 1993 trailer but it looks brand new, the guy who had it has always taken very good care of it. He just put new tires and bearings on it and had both wheels freshly powdercoated.
  9. Went to Rocky Face Ga. Tuesday and picked up a Bushtec Turbo 2 trailer, I think I will get alot of use from this one! Now I gotta get some time off so I can load it up and drag it around some. Will need to get the lights wired in first though.
  10. Years ago I did a little dirt track racing and water temp was always an issue because of the radiator getting more and more plugged with dirt as the race went on so we tried everything we heard of to help run cooler. Back then the product was just called water wetter and it did seem to help. I have no idea how but it just helped to get more heat transfer.
  11. Around here the mobile home evaporators usually sell for around 600 to 700 dollars installed and with a warranty. Cost on the evaporator itself is around double what some of you guys are quoting. Then add in a drier, refrigerant and a few bucks for misc. and labor. I would be happy to get you a price on the coil only if you want to replace it yourself. just shoot me a pm if you are interested.
  12. Made it home about 8:00 pm, 502 miles total for the day! Sorry Dave I tried to miss your rabbit but it ran right into my tire! It should have zigged one more time instead of zagging into my lane! RSV 1- silly rabbit 0.
  13. Sounds like you have a problem with the power coming in to the house, sometimes everything will work normally until you put a heavy load on it then you lose or partially lose power on one leg. You probably should call an electrician, it could be something as simple as a loose connection at the main breaker or a problem with the utility companies supply coming to the house. No way to safely tell unless you have a good volt meter to actually see where the trouble is.
  14. Mama Chicken isn't a member here yet but I will be trying to get him to join. Just a good ole boy who always is there when someone needs him.
  15. Last wednesday we were getting ready to leave for Gatlinburg with 27 other folks for a weekend of riding and fun, naturally I had to work late so was already running late. At about 10 pm I went out to hook up the trailer and check all the lights and stuff and the bike just shut down on me. I determined that the fuel pump was not working so I called a buddy of mine who rides a wing trike but also has a yamaha two wheeler for solo riding. Told him that I would have to wait until the dealer opened the next day to get a pump and that I would just meet them up there later in the day. The first thing he said was to just come get his pump and make the trip and then get a replacement later! So at about 11 pm I was taking parts off of someone elses bike so that my trip wouldn't be ruined! Made the swap and the trip went great. I don't think many folks would have offered to let someone take parts off their bike in that situation so my hat is off to Roger McClure aka: Mama Chicken from Somerville Al.
  16. Hey Craigatcsi, I believe I can hook you up on the first item on your list! Being from Alabama we still have access to some products the may not be available in some places! Send me a pm and we will make this one happen.
  17. Just to throw my 2 cents in I went for a ride a couple of weeks ago with one of my sons friends in an SRT4 Dodge Neon. Now I have to be honest, when he asked if I wanted to go for a ride I was thinking ( Why would I want to, it's a little four cylinder) Man let me tell you it is amazing what kind of speed they can get out of those little engines! I have an old Plymouth Duster with the old school stuff, four speed , 360 small block good cam and heads, posi rear, and there is no way I could handle that little neon! Plus he still gets about 26 mpg compared to my 8 mpg!
  18. Glad I could help. Looking forward to that ride we talked about!
  19. Went out for a ride today with a couple of friends and had a great time. On our way home I was riding in the back as I like to do. Some nut kept pulling up very close to me, I mean at times he was within ten feet of me! I tried waving him on by so tha he could pass, I tried slowing down to make him pass and I tried speeding up to get away from him. Nothing worked, he would still come right back up on me. I realize now that I should have just pulled off the road or turned somewhere but I was riding with a couple of other guys and it really didnt occur to me at the time. So finally after about five miles of this crap, we came to an intersection where we had to stop. I got off the bike and walked back to his car, I told him very politely that if he wanted to go for a ride I would be glad to oblige him but he needed to park his $%@!&% car and get on the bike! He declined my offer and went around us. After this was all over I realized that this could have really turned out bad for me. I am usually very even tempered and I dont get mad easily, but by the time it got to that point I was so ticked that I just lost my temper! I have no idea who this idiot was or why he did this but I do know that in the future I will just pull off the road and let the nutcases have it to themselves. Ok Im done ranting now and going to clean up the bike!
  20. 26 years in the heating and cooling trade. First 8 years as a service tech for a mechanical contractor, then 9 years as a factory service rep for Carrier corporation in the heavy industrial division. Since then I have been owned by Murphy Refrigeration Services! Dont let anyone ever tell you that self employment is all bad! Heck I will only have to work about ten years after I die and I will break even!
  21. Today was one of those days that really makes a body feel great! Had breakfast with a bunch of friends and then hit the road for a couple hundred miles. Temps in the mid sixties and riding with great friends, WOW!!!!!!
  22. 1975 Plymouth Duster 360 4-speed 1998 Dodge Ram 4x4 1998 Dodge Durango Project car is a 1972 Dodge Demon tube chassis 440 powered drag car
  23. We were on the dragon on friday afternoon. Had a great weekend, saw two bears, lot of riding and the weather was great! Was glad to meet Bobby G and his wife while out riding on sunday, they are super nice folks and we look forward to riding with them someday. I found a new favorite road on saturday afternoon, if you go north out of Gatlinburg on 321 about 15 miles out of town it dead ends into hwy32, turn right and in about two miles you will be in some twisties that will make you laugh at the dragon! It is about twelve miles of really intense riding. The only problem I saw was that in a few places there were leaves over part of the road, not a whole lot but enough to make you tighten up. Only met one car on the whole ride, the road is very smooth and a lot of fun.
  24. even better, just checked again and looks like mid to high 60s and sunny!
  25. as of now we are riding, looks like about 60 degrees and sunny for the weekend
