  1. I just knew I'd get somebody confused on that one,,, didn't think it would be Dan though, I thought it would have been some young feller.
  2. Praying for you two, blessing that all may go well.
  3. I wouldn't be running, I'd be riding a first gen!!!!! and I'd being doing 90 before I could get it out of 1st gear.

Wishin and prayin for Art, thanks for keeping up with him,,,, that's what makes a friendship.
  5. Put them up on ebay,,,,, carefully used, not even used by an old lady, never let me down, just like they used to make, they don't make them like this, all worn in, break resistant, water proof,,,,, and the list can go on.
  6. Just so you know, the same oil is used for the motor, clutch and transmission. Drain one, you've drained them all. Now there is a screw at the bottom of the middle gear cover that lets out oil if removed so there is a wee bit left in the transmission when you do an oil change, but not enough to worry about.
  7. There's a small screw hidden way back in this hole, that is your air mixture screw. It might have a brass plug to keep you from playing with it, so you'll have to drill a small hole in the plug, then insert a screw to be able to remove it. Once you can get at it, then start the bike and turn the screw out a turn or two. If that helps your problem you can either leave it and be happy, or you can remove it and clean inside there with some carb cleaner. To remove the screw is tricky, turn it until it is free from the threads and then suck it out with a turkey baster or some such tool. There are 3 parts and you'll need them all for reassembly. The screw, which has a very fine needle on the end, a spring seated on the screw and a rubber coated washer on top of the spring (sits between the spring and the engine). Be careful to find the washer and put it back in. Once done cleaning, put the spring and the washer back on the needle valve (screw) and turn it back into place. DO NOT turn in tight, only very carefully until it comes to a stop, don't worry, if you are careful you'll feel the stop. Now turn it back out 2.5 turns and try the engine again. You may need to adjust the screw some what, first to get the cylinder to fire, and then to get it to run as best as possible. This is all done by ear and feel, so enjoy.
  8. Hey, this poor guy is trying to come up with a design for a mudflap,,, anybody got any ideas??? obviously maybe not, but hey, we can try again.
  9. I think Brantford Motorcycle gets after market parts for the clutch, want me to check for you? http://www.barnettclutches.com/locator/international.aspx?country=canada
  10. That is starting to look good, bet now that you've got back at it, you want to see it get done,,, huh!
  11. Did you try to adjust the idle mixture screw on that cylinder?
  12. What??? you mean you really have them all firing now, or is it just that you think they are?
  13. Maybe a link on this thread would be helpful as well.
  14. The clear coat went bad, all started to go hazy and break up, so I did the front forks again with a different clear coat and it went funny as well, so that's why I went the Classic Cloth route,,,, also have tried Mothers, Autosol and a host of other potions, none worked as well as CC. They all seemed to clean to some extent, but none had staying power so to speak.
  15. I would start with cleaning the switch, it can get dirty and foul up, but I can't see that has anything to do with the running light part, that is a different circuit. Check your bulbs to make sure they are in right and are clean. You may also have a ground problem, so while you have it apart run a wire from the ground, outside portion of the socket, to the battery and see if it then works.
  16. We did, that's why he thinks it was worth 2 bits, that's 2 quarters or 50 cents, and I think he's stretching that a fair bit, maybe even more more than one fair bit, getting right into the second bit, which may not be so fair, or not fair at all,,, but then he used to live close to Swifty, who has things in his living room and that might have something to do with it,,, or may not, depends on how you look at it I suppose.
  17. Well I sure hope you have this one right, don't want to make him any older than he is already. So. if she's right,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dan, wishing many more healthy ones for ya. Take the day off and enjoy getting aged.
  18. When ever you're ready,,, we'll have a spot for ya. Glad I didn't do it in the living room then,, it looks a lot better than only half of yours. It was about time somebody changed the subject, and I'm glad you had an opinion, don't know what it was, but you had to get your worth in here EH?
  19. We'll be thinking and praying for you.
  20. Let me know when it happens,,EH?
  21. Well at least nobody can say that we are afraid of the past,,,, happens more often around here,, kind of cute actually.
  22. There you go,,, making me look dumb again,,,, will you guys stop that, you should know by now that I can't read dates.
  23. Anytime for me is good, just need to get rid of a bike or two, so that might depend on Wayne or the new guy Art who seems to be a brother-in-law to Steve who seems to be friends with Wayne,,, who by the way is now a proud owner of an 86. So once that is figured out I'll have room for tour scoot and if I can chase Ben out of here as well, then we'll have room to dance. Now if you want to bring it here sooner, that can be arranged as well, I can make room, I'll just park the 86 elsewhere.
  24. This thread is being HY-JACKED Maybe I gots a better idea. Seeing as this scoot been sitting around for a while, it will need more than just the faring put back on. The brakes will need to be serviced, oil change and filter, carbs will need to be brought back to life, maybe some leaking here or there, and who knows what else while we're in there anyways. So my idea,, find a trailer, load the bike, drive for an hour to make sure it will go fast enough, unload the bike and get it fixed right,,, and oh ya, I'll have a 'parts bike' in my garage. I know,,, about the food,,,, well somebody else can figure out how to work that out,, I did the hard part. We wouldn't be able to get all that done in one day, and it should run right,,, right?
  25. does this look like the one you need?
