  1. Don't know if I have your answer, but LEDs are a fussy bunch. They need the right amount of voltage to run and if they are overpowered, they'll burn out. There is a range that they will operate in, it's around 3 volts, and the closer they are to the top limit, the brighter. They come with their own circuitry to govern the voltage.
  2. Could a feller use french fries?? they come pre-salted and mostly have 4 sides.
  3. Looks too fine to let air through for the class system,,, just my thoughts.
  4. Better to have washed it,,, we have ech-perience with that version.
  5. If you cleaned the carbs then you should have had those caps off and cleaned the air mixture passage way. Those are not idle screws, they adjust the mixture at idles only. By your description, it seems to me that you have two things tat might need correction. First you need to check the routing of the throttle cables, they do NOT run over the nylon spacer in the shaft at it might seem to be, that spacer is a spacer, not a slider bearing. Second, you'll need to do a carb sync to get things right. The idle screw is on the left side, hidden under the rail that joins the two carbs, in the middle between the two. It's actually a thumb nut, usually takes two fingers to turn, one from the one hand and one from the other.
  6. Nope, didn't go,,,, had no reason to,, been there, done that,,,, I let Sleepy2 do the representation for us, he's a good ambassador so I don't need to get in his way. SleepyII said it was kind of quiet there, almost like nobody cared, and it was cool. As for me taking the covers off,,,,, not very likely, so don't be thinking anyone got pictures of all that,,, won't want the rest of you guys to start feeling bad!
  7. Hey guys, I'm Dutch by decent,,,, you got my interest,,, NO CHARGE????? WOW!!!!,,,,, oh, wait a minute,,,, an AC unit,, not charged???? been there, done that!!! Thanks Ben, But now I am interested,,, will it fit on the Spyder?
  8. That is not a new problem, it ha been experienced before. Wizard765 and I had that problem a few years ago when we installed Avons. His went away with a tire change, mine stuck it out for a lot longer. Steering head can be an issue, rear wheel alignment can also have an effect. Other things to look at: tire pressures, fork oil levels, swing arm lubrication and wear, cracked frame, wheel bearings. I did all of those with some improvement, but it never did go away completely,,, until I bought a Spyder, and then I had different issues.
  9. Don't know,,, just don't know,,,,, I'll check my passport to make sure it is up to date,,,,, it's quite a distance,,, best make sure the tank is full, get an oil change, check the coolant, tire pressures, tread life, air-conditioner, heater, reservations at the hotel, schedule replacement help, get a baby sitter,,, soooo much to do,,, when is it?
  10. Sounds kind of lite to me,, tinny. I like something with a deeper throat sound. Strictly produced by the exhaust of course, guess if I wanted to spend cash I could make my Spyder sound close to that, but then I wouldn't ride it anymore,,, too much noise. Of course, sound produces very little horsepower, if any, although we tend to associate the two, so if I were to ride with or on that machine all it would produce is annoyance. Ok, that's it for now, I'll get down.
  11. I am very comfortable on the Spyder,,, took a while though, like Bob said, you get the idea that you're being thrown off, so you need to adjust to that feeling. I remember following B2-Dad one time and was amazed how he could twist his trike into parking lots and around corners, I thought I would never be able to do that on the Spyder,,, course that was my first ride,,,,,, today, totally different, give me the twisties and I'll keep up , maybe even push a little. I also thought I would miss the hyway pegs I had on the 85,,, I do a bit,, but really wouldn't spend money on getting some,, at least not yet. Mileage is excellant, mostly right in tune with the Ventures I ride with and so lots better than a triked Venture. Oils change every 15,000 km, not radiator heat, and if you get rid of the cat then there's not extra heat from there either, heated grips and passenger bars, reverse, abs, good radio sound system, lots of light. But it does have some issues. Needs to be properly aligned, Can Am isn't much good at that. It takes time to make any upgrades,,, lots of plastic to get out of the way. OEM tires are crappy. (Kenda) Needs a belt tensioner to keep the belt vibrations at bay. Trailer hitch is a funny looking thing. Needs mud flaps.
  12. go get us to the hairport,,, that there in the henvelope is two of the best dern tickets I ever laid me eyes on,,, we gets to go to Parrriee on a quick flight,,,, dang you boy, you did wonderful and I loves ya whole much,,,,, to which Dan replied....
  13. So now you're back are you,,, and there you go again,, taking over the whole thread pretty much,,, could have guessed!!! You might have tried to make a comment or two on other threads, just to let us knows you was still alive,,, but nah,, you have to have a thread all of your own eh?? So maybe you could tell us who is all left being friends with you anyways,, shouldn't be too hard, even at your age,,, I mean,,, with all your wisdom and all. Good to hear from you again, thought I was going to have to come to Alden to give Taters a hug meself,, but I'm guessing maybe it'd be alright if you dois it.
  14. high time to disguise Don And Eileen,,,,, but how to do that and have it be effective,,,, it seemed to be an almost impossible task. A large conference was immediately called and all interested parties were 'signed' in,,, so that meant everybody there,, and a whole lot of valuable time was wasted on the BS part of the gathering. Thoughts were discussed to color their skin, shave of some hair,,, but in Don's case that was a no-brainer and for Eileen nobody was going there, other thoughts were to change their attire, develop a limp, or maybe get a burka or two,,, but no idea took hold and became the answer. It was then that a humble Canuck came up with an idea that Don should run the Avalanche into town and trade it for a Ford,,,, after all, who would look at somebody driving Ford to think that he would have been piloting an Avalanche so recently. It wasn't long and Don was back with his newly acquired possession, and with the HD ensign all over the back window it had the Yammi rider all in a dither.
  15. Notice the cracks? If that is in the engine case,,, it's toast! If it's in the cover, a replacement would be in order. May I suggest that if it's the cover that you might also upgrade the starter clutch??? contact Dano for that one.
  16. another sound came to the ears of those already in attendance. Jonas had found a way to mount the Yammi twin V4s on his newly acquired flying machine and had them wound up to full throttle. Not wanting to get lost he had taken along a special navigator named Greta, who was now guiding him by the pulling of ears. Her former plan to use speech had not worked so well, due to all the noise from the un-muffled twins and the fact that Jonas usually don't listen too much anyways, so she found that the pulling of ears was much more effective as Jonas tended to follow his nose, and in this case the dogs were calling, so all was well,,,,, until....
  17. Simple check would be to pull the boot off the vacuum port while the engine is running. If the engine reacts then the port is open and you have vacuum and the carbtune should work. If the engine doesn't react then you either have a plugged port or your hooked to the wrong place. If an engine runs, it will have vacuum, dirty carbs or not. There may not be the right amount of vacuum, but there will be enough to measure. Could be, that if you screwed with the settings, that the sync is out so bad that vacuum will not show really anywhere, although 1 cylinder should always show some. Vacuum is created by a close butterfly, so if the butterfly is open too far, and the engine is running too slow, say at idle, then you may loose all vacuum on 3 of the cylinders very easy. These engines have an amazing way of running, even if one cylinder is dead, or the sync is way out. Once you get it right, then you'll notice how smooth they can be.
  18. Eileen broke down in tears,, tears so big they covered her cheeks and ran down one after the other,, she sobbed and wailed,,,,, and now those tickets were history and her beloved Don had thought sooo much of her when he bought,,, but due to her very own actions,, they were back there in the hands of the LEO who was looking not too kindly in the direction of the now distant Avalanche. Don,,,, realizing what had now happened, came up with a genuine idea...
  19. So you discovered the answer,,,, in: air would burp up into reservoir each time...... best of the world to ya.
  20. As the excited officer of the statutes was about to shift, he hit a bump in the road and his foot slipped up over the shifter. As we all have experienced at times, the foot does what it does, and if it's on top of the shifter it pushes down, and so when the said officer went to shift, he, by no fault of his own, shifted into 2nd,,, and being a blue 1st gen, we all know as well, that 2nd is pretty well not existent. But being a man of determination, he was not about to give up and shifted again, this time into 1st, and released the clutch. Much to his amazement and total surprise that little V-4 under his crotch did what it does well, and put the power into reverse,,,, and that brought things to a halt so fast that the rider, although very experienced in riding, was not that fully trained in this style of stopping. Needless to say, things turned for the better for the two love-birds in the Avalanche. Eileen very much outdid herself as she leaned over and....
  21. Get an allen socket, attach to 3\8 drive extension, and charge the battery on your impact driver. Insert the allen socket, push solidly, turn the impact driver to the left and squeeze the trigger. If it don't come out, you can then go the weld route. You may also try heating the screw, then with some contact cleaner cool the head and then impact it.
  22. You just go right ahead and be on your mountain,,,,, me though,,, I'd like to be in the valley somewhere. You just never know how long a good hug can take and if you're up on the mountain.....you can get sun-burnt, fall off, blown off, shot, (if the owner is nearby) have your picture taken, and in your case would probably be too tuckered out to hug real good. I'll take the valley therefore, where you can hug in peace, take some time when needed, enjoy the shade, lay in the grass when necessary (to regain consciousness if the other party is really good) stay out of the rain...........
  23. Now I'm offended,,, like really!!!! you come to me,, call me an expert and then post the same dang question here,,,, that's the good part, and once again proves that you were right in calling me an expert,,,,,,, hey, I'm the only one who got it right!!!!!! and that offends me,,,,,, why? because I had thought that after all my teaching someone,,, at least one person would have remembered what I have tried to teach all you guys over the years. Now it seems I have to go back in time and start all over new,,,, wonder if I can become 40 again??? WHAT A WASTE!!!!!!:bang head:
  24. that blue suited, white helmeted ticket writer who was now gaining on the high powered Avalanche. Don had some tricks up his sleeve to try to buy some time, he was very familiar with this part of the country seeing as he had ridden it numerous times to get to M&Gs and Rallies. He now headed for the back country where he had almost outrun a Spyder one day, and was doing fairly well indeed until at one sharp curve, riding on two wheels and scraping the new floorboards Eileen noticed...
  25. Ahhhh but sadly enough Eileen was up to her normal female antics and only heard half the story, so she immediately went out to look for a motor. Not knowing that it was a special edition of motors that she was looking for, she, in short order made a great deal on something so totally different that.....
