bike is realy sluggish and low tickover
Marcarl replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You are right,,, to a point,, but for the time it takes, and, would be a good idea anyways, check the voltage and flow. If the voltage is low, then the power supplied to the coils is reduced, and hence the strength of the spark at the plug isn't as sparkie. Far reach maybe, but costs nothing to check. -

Check the voltage on the battery, first on the posts and then also on the terminals. You should have 12.4 min not running and over 13 running. If you don't have those values you have an issue. -
I have a whole drawer full of instructions. When something looks kind of complicated to put together, I hand the instructions to Marca and then proceed to assemble. She has this filing system that seems to work for her, but when things go aerie and I need to contemplate some writings from China in English I grab the top set of filings to make an attempt at being smart in my wife's eyes. Very seldom do the explanations match up with the mishmash of parts that are available. Hench I don't bother to read much and my favourite tool is the banger. I have different sizes for different jobs, because I found out as well, that just having one and using it on everything can often complicate things even more by the added parts that become available in the process.

And they say I talk a lot,,,, huhhhhhhhh???? or Duh!!!!!

Not really the way to do it, it might work, but there are easier ways, and I'm sure somebody will reply shoooortly with a good way to handle it. In the meantime,, if you remove the nut and squeeze out the residue, then fill it back up with the goop that we have here, lightly screw it back together, it won't be any better than it was before but you'll have done us a great favour by detailing the process with and explanation that is accompanied with photographs of the process. For an alternative you could possibly check out other sites for more detailed information, but be prepared to have to work with limited parts, seeing as some of the parts might be missing. Sometimes that's not a bad thing, it might save a bit on gas mileage, or if it's a light, saves on battery power which can be useful at times as well. Do not be dismayed by the lack of useful info so far presented. Time will come when your original question will be more thoroughly read and better understood, and more thoughts will be generated. This will take a little time seeing as some of the most of the informers have their brains frozen at this time of year,,,, it seems to be a phenomenon at this time of year, and has established itself quite well I noticed.

Just so you know, and I wouldn't tell anybody else this, but this site is here to hand out information,,, sometimes even the right information. Now the family thing that is happening,,, well that is just a side line, one of those things that happen along the way, not really all that important, until you run out of information and you need a reason to hang out. So along with information, we hang out now, just because some of us are two old to hang-in I guess, so we set up M&G and rallies and coffee times and such. Our bikes run so good now that we really don't need to do much work on them anymore, but because we feel kind of lonely when we aren't wrenching we go out to buy things, just so we can feel useful again. So Welcome, and ask away.

Received some sad news from my son.
Marcarl replied to Huggy's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
There is nothing that God cannot do, so we will ask Him to look after this young man, first that he might meet his Creator and second that he might be healed so that he can testify of the greatness and power of the Son of God. If he has met his Creator, he will be at peace and live forever, if he has not met Him yet, it's time he does. -
I did mine some years ago, they are metric and not easy to find. think I got mine from Summit Racing. I may have a couple of leftovers,,, would that help?

Not going to show Marca that one,,, she might have me demonstrate just how it works,, and you know me,,, what momma says goes!!!!

So what is a billiard pray tell?? New police terminology???

OK we is ready,,,, doors are locked, windows barred, car is secured, cameras in place,,, what else? Glad you're back and maybe life a bit more back to dependable. I have an 83 that might help and a whole host of other parts that come with it,,, might help ya. As far as SS lines,,, it's the only way to go,, cost about $300 if I'm not mistaken,,, but you'll love them and wonder how you ever stopped before. And OH, Welcome back!!

Nice job Ben, thanks for setting it up,,, now next time you should appoint a runner up to guide things when we get there,,,, you just can't imagine how confusing things get when there are a bunch of hungry VentureRiders, food, beer, and no one to set the pace so to speak. That's almost as bad as having a whole line up of scoots and no way to ride them.

Low voltage on your battery?

The best I've done and got complements, was to show her where she left the vacuum last time,,,, now just reading over my statement, I'm not sure that complement was the right word,, it could have been complaint,,, but they almost sound the same, can't remember which means what.

I find that putting on a new set of sneakers often takes the focus off of the rest of the vehicle, also a good massage does wonders for the paint, as for the headlights maybe get a new set of lenses. I've also discovered that putting less coolant in the rad helps with the overflow, and that to fix the exhaust problem,,, well it's best to ignore it altogether, unless it leaves an odor, in which case it won't be so bad if you remember that there is a reason for that as well, and that being that it is for the benefit of those who happened to miss the crackle or wondered what the noise the was.

Shame on you Scot, there you are calling Mr Yammer by a name that is definitely not his,,,, you see, we actually have a Dano on the site, and although we miss him a lot, we don't miss him enough to sub-plant his handle on one such as Yammer Dan. There you go Dano, I stood up for ya,,, happy now?

Ya know Fool,,,, that might be an idea, and Canada might be happy to be rid of me,, now that I'm on Old Age Pension and all,,,, and I do make disturbances every once in a while,,,, but if I do come we'd have to fix some things to make me feel at home, like fix that snow-shooter so so it actually works, I'm thinking with you being laid up that maintenance hasn't been the topmost on your mind or upgrades for that matter. With you're expertise and my wacky ideas there should be plenty of the good stuff to go around, with maybe even a little to spare for our southern partners.

Guess you should have used a stronger wine!

I went out looking for a saw 40 years ago,,, didn't have much money, but thought I had a little know how. Ended up at the local dealer and asked if he had any used saws for sale. He said he would have one the next day or so, but at the time they had not gone over the one they had so wouldn't sell it. $$ were in my eyes so I asked him how much there and then with no coming back to complain. He said $65. I paid him and became the proud owner of an older Haliday saw. That saw has seen a lot of trees. It needs a bit of muscle to lift bit never has given me a problem once I wake it up. Now it runs about once every two years. Never worry about gas or stabilizers. My sons have Stihl and 3 or 4 different ones,,, harder to deal with than the Haliday. The Haliday was made in Peterborough in the old Pioneer plant after the employees bought the plant.
