  1. when a Venture mis-fires, a lot of riders wouldn't notice.
  2. So we are together with Evan and Anne, and were discussing the Toronto itinerary. So when are Annie and Al in Toronto to enjoy the company of Real Canadians and teach them a thing or two.
  3. For sure!!!! enjoy the freedoms that were fought for by those who believed it was worth while. I sure appreciate it. But Saddlebum is right as well. Any form of government has a limited amount of time, about 250 years max. In N.America we are in a big hurry to change from democracy into some sort of all encompassing power rule. The more we want the government to do for us, the more we complain and blame the rulers for things, the more we give the government the power that a few so much want. It's time we take responsibility for the actions of the country. Don't ask me how, I ain't that smart. Maybe if we realize that the money government spends, gives out on suits, wastes on projects and so on,,,, come directly out of the pockets of us and our neightbours, things might change, but I kind of doubt whether we would want to bite that bullet.
  4. Hey, that's the boat we came over the pond on,,,, did you find my teddy?
  5. Yep, no trailers in my view if I can help it, or open pickup trucks either, that's when the throttle comes in handy and a bit of power to move on. Glad u is ok. As noted during training: the throttle is your friend!!!
  6. I would first take off the airbox, start it up and then spray a bit of carb cleaner into the throat of each carb. If there is a response then you have spark, if not I would check to see if there is power at the end of the spark plug wire. If there is, then the plugs are suspect. If you haven't changed the plugs for a while, then now is a good time. If you have no spark at the end of the wire remove the cap, clean it, cut a bit off the end of the wire to freshen it and try again. Next area to check would be the TCI. It's located under the battery, so take out the battery and airbox to remove the connector and clean the connections. At this point you may decide to remove the TCI and locate it to the top of the airbox where it is more accessible and is in a dryer environment. Once that is done, try it again. If no luck, then maybe you have pulled the wires out of the coils. The coils are located under the dashboard\clockworks, to the side. 2 on each side and be gotten to from the front. The front coils go to the front cylinders and the rear ones go to the rear cylinders. It takes small hands to get to them but with a little squeeze it can be accomplished without taking it all apart. In order to access the rear it's best to remove the front wires first, then do the rear and then finish the front. Wires are held into the coils with a rubber o-ring, special size and conformation, and a taper nut.
  7. I enjoy watching people when I stop somewhere. If there happens to be a chance of others catching me and getting there first! People will go around and look at the bikes, except the Spyder. Well some actually come and take a closer look, but most will give constant sideways glances at the Spyder, like as if they are not supposed to look at it, but if nobody was watching they might actually go over to it and give it a real close look. And when they do ask? I tell them it's the greatest thing going and I would never go back to 2 wheels, and I should have done this a long time ago, but then they didn't make them when I was young.
  8. Not a good thing. This puts a bit of a spoiler on your plans I'm sure. Will keep you in our prayers and thoughts. Glad it wasn't any worse.
  9. That cover is the 'middle gear cover'. You will need a gasket for the starter cover, it gives clearance to the starter drive shafts. For the other 2 you can get away with gasket maker but use it very sparingly, you don't want that stuff moving around inside the engine, and make sure the surfaces are absolutely clean with brake clean or they will leak. Best get yourself an impact driver, once you get used to it, it'll be your goto tool.
  10. If you decide to use one of the two you have posted, I would go with the more expensive one.
  11. Zigged and Zagged across Canada EH????? next time in Mich I'll just ride through and say Opps? was that Michigan????
  12. Not much good for you right now, but I have gone to using an impact driver to get those kind of bolts\screws out before I even attempt a hand tool. Save a lot of problems and very seldom does one come loose,,,I mean very seldom! For this application I would attempt a dremel with a small bit to remove the head, at which point there might be a way to remove the easyout and then the cover will come off. Then things would be somewhat easier.
  13. Are you sure it's fork oil and not brake fluid? 5.8lb is no torque at all, I would call that snug, but not tight. If it's fork oil you either have a bad o-ring, dirt in the seal area or a cracked anti-dive I think.
  14. Ouch,,, in more ways than one. Seems like the Good Shepherd was watching over her. Massaging really works wonders in the healing process. May I suggest that there is a therapist in house for her. She'll probably need a cook, window washer, floor cleaner, laundry service, shopper and other necessary job categories. Best be on your best behavior for the next while if you want to stay 'employed'. Guess Goldie is just gonna have to wait a while longer eh?
  15. The first thing to do would be to check that all the ground connections are in good shape. Start with the battery, and the main connection on the bottom right side of the engine. There is another one on the left side under the inner faring right behind the radio. Also check the connectors for the ignition module under the battery.
  16. All good info so far. One item to add to all that: where the throttle cable come down into the carb area, it runs past a shaft with a nylon spacer on it that looks like it might be a slide for the cable. It is not! It is a spacer only. The cable runs behind that shaft. If you have the cable running over that shaft, you won't get much in the way of adjustment in the carbs.
  17. If the cover won't budge, chances are there is still a bolt holding. Get down low and check it out first, you really don't want to bust that cover. When putting it back on, it's easy enough, but the linkage coming from the back has to have the knuckle in the up position, definitely in the up, did I say it right? UP position.!!!!
  18. Does it come with road kings?
  19. Ontario???? eh!!! sounds like a M&G time,,,, would you be available?
  20. So now why? I ask WHY did you allow the Queen to get you sooo busy that you don't have time to ride anymore. Get your priorities straight, I thought they taught you that in school. First comes food Then religion. After which come riding. If time allows you might consider marriage, but tread carefully, you have to sleep as well. Some people manage work, others just manage off the work of others. If you can't get it right the first time, go for ride. But there is one thing you can't do, and that is leave us all hanging. PS. we do have 3 streets at our place for parking, 1 for real bikes, 1 for other bikes, and around the corner is lots of room for cars. Remember, it's not HOW you got here, just that you arrived safely.
  21. Drill a small hole into the cap. Start a screw into the hole, back it out. Get a socket that is just larger than the cap and a washer that will fit over the socket but small enough to hold the screw head. The length of the screw is important as with the socket and washer in place the screw should just start into the cap as before. Now with the socket and washer in place insert the screw and turn. You'll have made yourself a cap puller.
  22. Looking good for sure. Now you have two new 'loves',,, a new bike and a new group to share things with.
  23. Thanks for the news Bob. Glad you and Becky got some good news. Praying for Pattie, Don, and Scott. Life seems to be changing a bit as time goes on, but then has it ever been stable? Not likely, each generation has had to bare it's own burdens, so we all need to depend on the One who controls all. Someday we have a chance at being in perfection, what a day that shall be.
  24. Now there you go, spoiled the whole thread, it was all about??????? oh well, let's talk about,,,, what was that you mentioned??
