So far: Over $900.00 for carb parts, rust free- scratch free- dent free- fuel tank of ebay, new fuel pump, New tires (avon cobra), fuel level sending unit, adapter plate for oil filter, oil filter. air filter, thermostat, fuel filter, new dryer material for CLASS, fresh brake fluid, fresh clutch fluid, fresh fork fluid, cables lubricated, changed fliud in final drive, swing arm lubicated, wind shield cleaned
  2. For 1989 VR, I bought off ebay an oil filter adapter. I received it with no O ring, and no instructions. Is an O ring required with the adapter? If an O ring is required, can the O ring for the OEM filter be used?
  3. 1989 VR; 210 miles JYA1NLE02KA028388 Purchased from K & N Kawasaki, Inc Sept 10,`1990 Crossing Road, Little, NY 13087. Motorcycle has been sitting up since Sept 1990. Currently being renovated by a mechanic. Hope to ride the VR before Christmas. I am the second owner. 1st owner lived in Newark Valley, NY 13811
  4. When carbs are removed and cleaned should the coasting enrichment valve assembly diaphram be replaced? Should this assembly be a concern on a very low mileage 1st Gen Venture that is being renovated for long term use? Should the assembly be replaced because it is 30 years old, even though it is very low mileage?
  5. rick's motorsports electrics has a new upgraded design 4-brush permanent magnet starter for the 1983 - 1993 1st Gen Yamaha Venture ($219.95).
  6. Can you or someone please tell me the brand and number of the spin on filter that will fit the adapter?
  7. Is the Bridgestone tire still a poor choice for the XVZ 1300 VR? Is the Dunlop Elite 3 still the proper choice tire for the VR?
  8. I will have to purchase a camera. MC is currently in the mechanics garage, hopefully to be fully renovated. I moved it there yesterday. Garage Owner/Mechanic expressed some reservations about whether he will have to disassemble the MC to replace the fuel tank (MC has been sitting up for about thirty years). I will find out on Monday whether or not he will carry through. I once considered doing the renovation myself but common sense prevailed.
  9. Are all 2nd gen starters four brush starters? Shade tree
  10. Four brush starter. On Ebay there is a starter: New 12V starter Fits XVZ 1300TFS. $159.95. Unit type MITSUBA. Is this a four brush starter? Will it fit my 89 XVZ 1300 VR?
  11. A mechanic is renovating my 89 VR, with 206 miles on it. In the first generation VR, at what point (in mileage) does the hot start problem begin? At what point (in mileage) is the four brush starter and heavy gauge starter wires needed? Will the higher out put stator help with hot starts? Would it be prudent to make upgrades at this point instead of waiting until hot start problems begin?
  12. I tried to order an owner's manual from yamahapubs.com. Could not get the order to process. I ordered the 1989 VR owner's manual directly from Crestec at 1-888-530-9446.
  13. I could not get an order to process at yamahapubs.com. I ordered one direct from Crestec, 1-888-530-9446. It will be shipped tomorrow and I should have it in two or tree days. Thanks for the help.
