  1. Thanks Ben for setting this up and for such a short speech, that is unlike you, even when you don't speech but just trying to extend mine. Good to see all you folks again, the pretty ones as well the others. I liked the way Dogman managed to get a stand-in for Bernie, don't know how he managed to find her, or get permission to take her, but it's something to keep in mind. Maybe you could give lessons on that Dave now that you're retired. Give Bernie our best and tell we missed her please. As usual, food was good, and the company couldn't have been better, looking forward to the next time we get together. Hopefully Abdul took some pictures????
  2. Very similar in my life once, and then later again, got the idea that sometimes it helps, to get her take on the problem at hand. We built an addition to our house in 98 with a walkout in the basement, all concrete. We dug a 3' pit and filled it with gravel for drainage, don't know why because it's all sand there, but we did because that is what you do I guess. Anyways, when it rained the bottom landing would fill with water somewhat and then slowly drain away, until one night it poured buckets and the water level was over the door sill and going higher. We went to bed and I told her we would probably have some water to clean up come morning, so we talked about it for a bit and she said, why don't you use a plunger? Notice she said 'you'!! Nice of her, seeing as it was raining cats and dogs, I had no rain coat and was going to get soaked if I tried her trick,,,, but, as a good husband I took her idea and went to work with it, found the plunger and went outside, no shirt, no shoes, no boots, no pants,,,,,,(enough already) and down into the walkout out. Two feet of water was now nicely pooled at the bottom, but the door seal held nicely, so with tool in hand I went 'swimming'. Found the drain hole, plunged it twice and watched as the water level lowered to the floor in about 15 seconds. I say she smart!!!, I'm decided there and then that she was going to be a keeper. The next step would be how to get her to demonstrate her ideas,,, still working on that one!!
  3. Antigua???? Where's that at?? How come you don't stick around here? How can I visit when you're never home? Coffee ready yet?
  4. For those who plan to attend, I look forward to seeing you, maybe the first time and hopefully not the last time. For those of you who are sitting on the fence,,,, get off that fence and come and enjoy some good company, meet some awesome people, see if I can get Evan and Ben to talk together, and enjoy some of the best food this side of where-ever. The time is 6:30pm, but don't expect Ben to be early,,, he can walk over. If you are not planning to come, then you'll be missing out and you'll just have to settle for the pictures that might or might not be posted sometime after the event, and your comments will be late in time. If you think it's too far to go,,,, you might be right, but you could also be wrong,,,,, why take the chance. If you think the weather might play a part in this? don't worry!!! there is a Holiday Inn just across the street and they have lots of rooms. If your GPS says you can't get there from where, then either get a new GPS or move to another location. If you live in Florida, you still have time. If you live in California, you may get lost. If you live in Germany, fly Air Canada. If you live in Australia, come-on over and get right side up. If you can't speak English, then you'll be in good company.
  5. That's the trouble with this time of year, soooo many 'Sundays', so much time off, days are all confused. A feller no sooner gets it together and has it in normal mode and then they tell him it's time to do something different again. I think New Years should be in July sometime, or maybe March. Enough is enough already. But no matter all that. Happy New Year you all. May many blessings surround you as you deal with all this world will throw at ya. By the end of this year, may you have found what is really the most important thing in your life, and then be able to enjoy.
  6. No Problem Mr Bob, it was a pleasure to spend time with you and Becky. It's just something that requires doing when you're family and we was just fine with doing it. Keep us posted on the developments and the Spirits leading..
  7. It's all Ben's fault. He has not been feeling on top of things of late, and he's getting on in years so maybe slowing a bit. I understand that the door got itself some rusty hinges, ( not enough used oil available from oil changes on his bike, because he didn't use it enough this year) and that leads to not being able to swing the door all the way open and then changes the current of the winds. Best thing to do to remedy this situation is to send him some jugs of used oil.
  8. Here is just hoping that this day will happen, but not on June the 8th weekend. We have a grandson getting himself married on that weekend to a wonderful young lady who has him all wrapped around her finger. We will not miss this celebration, but then I don't want to miss MD either, if it happens.
  9. Thanks Ben.!.! Where's the Line to See Jesus? Sadly to say that even those who say they are part of His followers lose the direction this time of year, so it's good to be reminded. That line though, will come, although it won't be a real line as such. It will be more like a cloud. Jesus will appear and He will come riding on the clouds and all those who are looking forward to that 'line' will see Him and rise to meet Him. I plan to be part of that 'line' and hope that there will be a large contingent called VentureRiders with me.
  10. Today it's not only Christmas, It's also Dragonslayer's birthday. Happy Birthday Bob, and may you be blessed with many repeats.
  11. Ya, I remember doing that once, just can't remember which once it was, or what the jack had on it. I can even remember doing it with a JackALL, that handle can sure take over some space in a hurry.
  12. Not so fast there me boy, we just finished our shepherds pie. Note of warning, not all the shepherds were young and tender.
  13. Thanks Don. And Wishing that each and everyone of the riders, passengers and additional families of the VentureRiders find true peace from the One who Christmas is all about.
  14. This is a great time of year, a time for families to get together, get away from daily concerns to enjoy each others company and fellowship, maybe even get along for a day or so. We tend to forget what this celebration is really all about. Actually, it's a way, the only way, for any of us to get to heaven. If it hadn't been for the miraculous birth of The Redeemer, then there wouldn't be a chance to attain the peace and goodness that heaven promises to be. So let's celebrate the fact that there is an avenue to get there. Let's thank the King of kings and the Lord of lords for coming. Blessings to you all for the celebration, and may peace and prosperity be yours in the New Year.
  15. One of my favorites, it's always my favourite when I hear about the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
  16. Not really, we do need a couple of days notice this time of year, if we are to get there on time. NOW!!!! can you do snow as well?
  17. Wow!!!! More Greek. I like Canoukian better, at least I know: SNOW,,,,,, and there hasn't been any. I think the old Fool has been sucking it all away, gonna have to get the Bummer to close the door for Christmas.
  18. You may have used the wrong kind of sticky material to hold them in place when you installed them. You don't want to use something that gets hard.
  19. Hope to see you there, along with your misses.
  20. Back when I was 55, my wife and I discussed retirement and concluded that it would be best if I waited until I was old enough. That being said, we thought that 80 would maybe be the limit,,but then,,,,,,,,, I retired at 61, my son took over the business, and I was out of work, and I figured too old to look for a new job. I have been busy ever since, but am able to say: nooooo not today, we'll do that maybe tomorrow. Today I have enough work ahead of me to keep 2 guys busy, my second oldest daughter just bought a house that needs some work. House was built in 1933 and has had some updating, but we are doing a lot of renovating. Not my real kind of work, but I'm helping her anyways. Retired just means that a feller can work on a nap every afternoon, sometimes after supper and mostly before going to bed. It's not always as easy as it seems, and sometimes I struggle to keep it up, but hey, it's my favourite past-time so I work hard at it.
  21. Could be,,, yep could be,,, but often enough the intake can be plugged, although sometimes it's the ignitor. The pull start seems to be working and in a few minutes the ignitor may kick in as well by the look of things. So it could be the carbs. Or on second thought it could be the operation of the operator and getting a different gender to work the operation might just do the trick.
  22. Why not try changing the plugs first, it might not be so bad as all that.
  23. I think Saddlebum figured you didn't need the door anymore, seeing as you weren't around to close it. It's steel eh, and the tariffs have had steel take a different turn, so being of Dutch decent (not a spelling mistake) he probably has it hidden away to use as collateral.
  24. Prayers are always available. We'll hold you up to our Father that He will help you in this regard as well.
  25. I think you did right boss, and 20 would be a good number. That way if a spammer wants to post some links or what ever, they have a bit of work ahead of them first, and work doesn't seem to be in their vocabulary. Good thoughts, carry on.
