  1. Thanks for the update Puc, keep us posted plz
  2. Just my thoughts here, not much to back them up though. Back in time the Hebrews commanded to bury their dead as apposed to some other religions that burned their deceased. Yaweh had chosen a people to be His own, separate from other nations around them. Read the attached article, it's very informative, even some interesting declarations on cremation. My thoughts have always been, if we are buried 'intact' then when it comes time to rise again we will be 'available' so to speak. To those who don't believe in the resurrection, this is a challenge and so to overcome this they cremate so that their ashes can be spread far and wide and so they believe that they cannot be put back together, and so spoil the resurrection. Of course in today world that might not hold to a lot of thinking anymore, folks today just think it's cleaner and better for the environment to cremate, although there is much thought that might not be a complete truth, and maybe just an outright lie. Nowhere is there any instruction in the Scriptures that indicate to burn ones body at any time, so that was left to the nations that didn't worship the Creator. https://www.aish.com/sp/ph/Cremation_or_Burial_A_Jewish_View.html
  3. And oH ya,,, if you need info on where to get things, what to use and how to make a mess of your garage floor,,, just ask,, we make wonderful companions.
  4. Puc makes some good points as to why shops won't look or work on your scoot, one thing though that kind of stayed hidden, although is does come out, is the cost factor. You can soon spend an easy $2000 just on parts to get an older bike right up to snuff. Ya, you might get it running just fine but then you get out on the road and find that the braking system needs work, and the forks leak and then somebody comes along with a wise crack that 6 yr old tires can't be trusted. Yep, that's the dealers dilemma. They go to fix one thing and then in the end comes the bill and you say: I only paid $1000 for this bike and you are going to charge me $3 grand to fix it??? Now, the nice part of this story is that if you shop around some and do your own work, you'll end up with the satisfaction of having your very own bike, knowing how it works, and riding something that has got to be one of the best in the industry, even by today's standards,, and it's already 20 yrs old.
  5. My recollection is that you have the spacer upside down. Things are all held together by the allen head bolt being threaded in from the bottom. The upper part, the part sits inside the tube to which the bolt is threaded can be held in place with the end of a broom handle after you line everything up and slide it into place. You can then hand turn the bolt to make sure it spins in the threads properly and finish up with an impact. Make sure you have the copper washer in place on the bolt. If you like to do things by hand then you can double nut a bolt with nuts that fit the broom handle end and then use an extension and socket. Flat washer in the middle, wavy washers on top and bottom.
  6. Maybe a plug wire isn't seated properly
  7. Well now!!! No sympathy from me my friend, only because I do as I am told,, sometimes!! well maybe not that often, but there was a time,, at least once I'm sure,, weelll as sure as I can be at my age. What a bummer, and you are one of those who find it enjoyable to get out to help others and so are normally on the move. Things change, so here's my wishes that what lies in store for you may somehow come out to be a blessing in the end. I'm glad that you have already decided to be as helpful as you can here. Just don't be getting yourself 'underfoot' understand, you know momma didn't like that.
  8. Here's at Ya @cowpuc. Happy Birthday wishes for ya and that you may be have many more and be blessed in what lies ahead. May our Father bless you and keep you, and make His face shine upon you, and grant you His peace.
  9. Them tubes look good, really nice. Now buff them on a buffing wheel and then finish them with Classic Cloth. Clean them once a year with the cloth and you'll be a happy camper. On the rear, the caliper may not be your biggest problem, somehow you have to get the axle out as well.
  10. Knowing what you know now,, and if I were you or you were me,, so meaning that if that bike were in my garage and I had the getup and go to getter done, I might just for the fun of it take a few minutes to check the torque on those pinch bolts. You never know who did the work on them the last time and what was in his head.
  11. Maybe you could tell us what year and model you need this for????
  12. Any idea what year of bike or model you are looking for?
  13. Be mindful of putting the front end together, so here is what I mean just in case you dropped the forks. Push the forks all the way into the triple tree until they stop on the snap ring. Forks must be seated in the triple tree, on the rings. Then tighten the lower pinch bolts to spec, only about 12ft lbs if I remember correctly. Now check to make sure that both forks are the same in the upper triple tree, if not, redo the lower one to get it where it belongs. If you are going to play with the steering head, now is the time, before you snug up the upper pinch bolts. Once you are done fooling with the steering head and have it tightened into place, then snug up the upper pinch bolts. Until then, they should be totally loose. Do not, repeat. do not over tighten the pinch bolts, it can and will do lots of funny things, including causing a wobble. If you are thinking that all that stuff needs to be real tight to keep it together, then think about what those pinch bolts actually do, they just keep the forks in line, more or less. You won't loose anything by them not being super tight, the forks are held in place by the weight of the bike and can't go anywhere but up and they can't do that because of the snap rings. The forks also will not drop out because the recommended torque on the bolts is plenty enough to hold them there.
  14. What you are showing is a seal, and I would kind of doubt that it would leak, at least that would not be my first thought. I would suspect the T more so, or maybe just a separation between the two.
  15. I've had a number of 1st gen in my shop and did the back and forth swing on the front end with it off the ground. Each one showed signs of wanting to fly off onto the floor somewhere when shook hard. To me it seems the nature of the beast. All off them did real well on the road once the head bearings were serviced and adjusted properly. Even they ones with a super brace did the 'in the air loose wobble'.
  16. If you feel that it would be beneficial to somebody stuck along the road?? by all means!
  17. You are plenty early for this seeing as we have hardly even thought about who, where and why. But I can see the merit. You would be welcome to visit our place in Brantford but we are about an hour or away from the Falls. stickhandle2 lives in Welland and I'm quite sure would be more than happy to have you visit with them, they are about 20 minutes from the Falls, but you'd have to check with them,, Mike and Tammy. dogman also lives not too far away with easy access, and would be an excellent host. Dave and Bernie. Normally we go as a group from S.Ontario on Friday leaving Grimsby around 9 am and arriving in the Oberlin area between 4 and 5 in the afternoon, just in time for dinner, taking I90 most of the way. You'd be welcome to hook up with us if so desired.
  18. Two things I would check before anything else, the first would be the steering head, making sure the bearings are not pitted and properly greased and the proper tension on the bearings. Too loose on the bearings will make the whole front end seem loose and ready to let go. The other would be to look at using a narrower front tire which often helps with the steering issues on the 2nd gen.
  19. The reason for Easter? Christ has risen, Death is defeated!!!
  20. Blessings Scott in this time of trouble. Life has it's ups and downs, and for you at this time would be considered a downer. I'm glad you have more than just us to lean on and guide you through this time. May the Peace that passes all understanding be yours as you discover more of His love.
  21. Now just make sure you get the right jets into the right locations, some of them look very similar but are different sizes.
  22. Sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sure that dealing with your sister's illness was a heartbreaking experience for you and your wife and family, and then in the end to have to say goodbye and admit defeat on the battle was also very difficult. My prayer is that she is with our heavenly Father and that someday we will all meet again in perfection, never to be separated again.
  23. Good news,,,, blessings to ya!
  24. Not too bad when you loose things, you can always go to the HF store or Princess Auto and get some more. Now when you loose yourself and end up searching in vain,,,,, now that is fun!!!
