  1. I swapped ( with Brians Help ) my 1200 with a 1300 got it all hooked up It runs Crappy !!!! but starts instantly the two cylinders on the right side are deadheads you can pull the sparkplug wire off (either of these two) and cannot tell the difference i am beat - I am not a carb genius, so it is kinda the end of the road for Coot & the venture kinda out of ideas The stealer in Regina wants $1,000 to clean and sync carbs and I sure as HHH do not have that I will try swapped a couple of diaphragms from some parts carbs I have I swapped diaphrams on the 2 and no difference I got PO'ed at it a did ye ole WD40 down the throats- and wallaaaaaaa motor raced for few sec's on both cylinders so it is carb problem , but that does not help me much I have had them apart and cleaned them -- to the best of my ability I could take them apart again, but have no idea what is wrong, so that would be a exercise in futility , to say the least I have another complete set of carbs, that I have cleaned as well But I really do not have the heart to tear this set out and put the other set in - I guess my problem is that I am not a mechanic and have no idea what to look for or where to find it or any idea what it will look like the short and sweet is that it is a carb problem as a PS -- the swapping of a 1300 into a 1985 went very well I won't go into that as I had started to post that and was told the thread was worthless Thanx for answering all my questions Merv
  2. the brake line from the rear master cylinder to the front left brake runs UP to the top of the tree and then DOWN to the front left bake cylinder It seems that it will be a real B____H to bleed there is likely a simple solution Looking for someone to tell me how to do it ?? Thanx Merv

  7. I like the idea of getting a 1300 and not worrying bout the 2nd gear problem you say the carbs are different jets - assume larger jets ?????? like can I just put different jets in the carbs from my 85 will jets from a 1300 fit in the 85 carbs ??????? I have done the cleaning of the carbs - so teardown of the carbs is not a problem thanks to all of you answering and making suggestions- It really helps me out thanx Merv
  8. tHANX TO ALL THAT HAVE RESPONDED ONE LAST QUESTION I was contacted by someone that has a "LIKE-NEW" 1988 1300 engine and he states that it will bolt right into my 1985 It seems to me that I have heard that the 1300 engines CANNOT be bolted into a 1200 ( 1985) bike Will the 1300 fit ??????????? thanx again Guys Merv
  9. GREG-IN LONDON I have thot not of maybe riding the 83 they are sending pictures tomorrow - that will likely tell the tale they said that they had a 83 with gummed up carbs sitting - and as I have 2 complete sets of carbs------ I originally thot I would transplant motor and use my carbs etc, mostly cause I have added lights, new windshield, seat repaired etc to mine and painted it But as I think on it - I bet all the painted and new parts on mine would go on the 83 so hell yes , that might be a super idea thanx - amazing how the obvious escapes us sometimes ---like not seeing the forest for the trees thank you for the suggestion will post what i do see ---2 heads are better than one - lololol Merv
