Camos way to quick! I believe it's Sailor, the pic was on the front of the local SSI newspaper & I just thought it would be fun to get people guessing. I'm only assuming it's him as he said he was organizing/ leading the toyrun recently. We had a flying visit to SSI yesterday with friends who are moving there & I spotted the newspaper.

Does anyone on here recognize this guy? There are lots of elves at the N. Pole Looking for him but he could also be masquerading as a "member" on this forum (check out the bike!) Apologies for the photo quality, I copied it (hope no-one gets upset at that) Congratulations on the ride "Santa" hope you had a good time & got lots of toys for the kids! Guesses Below please...

IMO Both bikes are top heavy compared to some. However once on the move that disappears. The only time the weight is noticed is maneuvering around the garage & to some extent when stopping at junctions lights etc. esp riding two up.

Not nice! Wishing you all the best fro a speedy recovery.

Or if you are close to one of their stores call in & ask a "genius".

Is there such a thing as this?
Kretz replied to grubsie's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Probably due to cost mostly I would think & back when only "sports/ performance" cars had multi carbs. (in the UK anyway) -
From the the link the Pucster added seems it's a side by side 4 wheeler, not a m/c.

Yamaha sure do seem to like the big buildup & reveal... talking about "Journeys" again maybe all their bikes will be renamed Journey Tour, Journey Sport, Journey adventure....
-
Of course it's a good decision, your wife is Happy!

C'mon guys, who has that photo? We gots to see it! Marcarl??? Congrats on the find Don, a friend of mine has one & he absolutely loves it! The riding position is peculiar though (to me) but I guess it is very "adventure style bike" seating placement & therefore built for long comfortable rides. Hope your wife loves it too.

Yamaha fires back on why they didn't use the vmax v4 engine
Kretz replied to RandyR's topic in Watering Hole
As has been said by others HD, Victory & Indian buyers/ riders are mostly loyal to their brand, Patriotism & the "made in the USA" sticker counts for a LOT, & there's the "kudos" of I ride a Harley, they did a really good marketing job, even non-riders are aware of the brand & there are some who would never even consider a Japanese bike for many, many reasons. I don't have a horse in this race as I will never be able to afford or justify a Series III Venture (nor do I need one). I'd like to but I just don't do that type of travelling due to health issues. I love my RSTD but even that is way more than I need & it will be going probably next year. I'll revert to my 900 Vulcan which is more than big enough for 95% of the riding I can do. There was lots of talk about journeys before the new "Venture" was launched so why didn't they just call it that. The Journey. Most of the objections I see are nothing to do with the bike being "bad" but simply that it has the wrong name for many. -
Back in my day... A male or a child would often give up their seat for a lady Back in my day... we were taught to have respect for authority (teachers, police & etc) & more to the point they deserved it! Back in my day.... No! meant No! (& not Oh! Ok go on then 'cause I want to be your friend) Back in my day.... kids had friends at school & PARENTS (who taught you life values & discipline) at home. Back in my day.... it wasn't always "someone else's" fault or responsibility Back in my day... People used direction indicators BEFORE they turned!

Back in my day.... we would function on a daily basis without the need for a f**%ing Cell-phone! Back in my day..... we could do a simple math sum in our heads & not need a calculator Back in my day.... we went outside to exercise & play with our friends & we actually TALKED to them Back in my day.... if your were a brat at school (or at home) you were punished (not talked to gently (if at all) in case your feeling got hurt!) Back in my day.... there was no such thing as "Political Correctness!"

Lots of people now seem to be using iPads & Tablets for navigation. There are a number of apps available & obviously can be used for things other than just navigation therefore justifying the cost. You may find this review of some use http://www.yachtingworld.com/ipad/ipad-navigation-apps-tested-61366 Good luck!

Your Doc & PT wouldn't happen to be young & attractive would they? That's why you keep doing these things! Seriously, no fun at all, sorry to hear.... hope all goes well & that we'll see you competing in the next Olympics! Well at least able to push that machine of yours around again.

So very sorry to hear this Dan. Others have said it all before me, there's not much I can add. Really hope your brother can get some help with his sight, & that things will improve for you & your family. I'm lost for words. Have faith, Peace Dan.

Wow! That thing is H-U-G-E! & the guy that owns it sure can't park! Park like that around here & your side would be removed by some clown!

PLEASE! Tell me we aren't losing the desire to ride!
Kretz replied to BigLenny's topic in Watering Hole
Big Lenny, for me No! you're not going crazy. My wife & I often find that it's "easier" no.... more convenient to take the car & not the bike & for many of the identical reasons you've quoted, plus in our case we both suffer with back & neck problems following a 2013 MVA when we were rear ended. Taking the bike will often exacerbate our aches & pains (we're not spring chickens either!). It is nice to just throw in the car what you think you may need & then a spare one just in case. It's good not to have to reason out everywhere you want to go & everything you want to do. Sure the bike can be fun & we do enjoy it but there are times when we take the car & I hate to admit it but those times are becoming more often. I do sometimes wonder why I have the bikes (a 900 Vulcan & the RSTD) pay the ridiculous insurance rates etc. But that's more about costs than desire. I will always I think enjoy riding the bike but may not always want to do so. I think we both feel a little less stressed when we take the car & don't worry quite so much about breakdowns (or worse). We can't all be Pucsters! (No offense Puc) sounds like you've both been quite stressed recently, obviously the decision is yours but fwiw maybe take the car & feel more "relaxed" the bike will be there & will wait till another less stressful time! All the best friend, whatever you decide I hope you & your wife have a fabulous time. My nephew from the UK is currently touring around LA, SF, Yosemite, Bryce canyon, ET Highway, Death Valley & environs & is thoroughly enjoying every minute. Take care & enjoy your together time & holiday! -
Replacement LED tail light board
Kretz replied to Raven1294's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I noticed that the "custom dynamics" unit although $30 more has a lot more LED's on the board than the other supplier mentioned. -
Maybe I should rethink this Dragonslayer thing
Kretz replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Watering Hole
I'm pretty sure he'll breath ice. That's the Ice king's aim isn't it, to turn the world to "winter" I must seem like a real nerd, yapping on about the series, I'm not really, I just think it's one helluva series, both written & on film. Totally entertaining. But a lot of liberties are taken too, where the hell did they get those chains from? I do wonder if, now the TV series is ahead of the books there will be less interest in the book when it is written & finally released. -
Maybe I should rethink this Dragonslayer thing
Kretz replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Watering Hole
Who cares what "name" anyone wants to put on it but it is a superb series & was an even better series of books! (For those of us who read) Wish I was a screenwriter cause I could have written tonight's episode (missed it on Sunday) I predicted every move! -
Problem with that is the only local non-ethanol gas around here is either 91 octane or 94 octane. (there's no 87 oct non-ethanol) I've been advised (in another thread) that I shouldn't be using higher octane gas than the 87 specified by Yamaha because it burns at a lower temperature & could cause ignition/ engine problems. Yamaha say it's OK to use 87 E10 gas BUT that only addresses the engine running part it doesn't address the problem of water attraction, tank damage & storage for extended periods etc. I do remember when the "unleaded" gas was introduced in the UK many years ago many people had to then buy & add a "lead substitute" as car engines couldn't run on the non leaded gas. There are already reports (from manufacturers) of engines being damaged by E15 gas, but still our governments think it's a good idea!

You never fail to impress & amuse! LOL Good one! I looked for my piece of welding glass but couldn't find it!
