I, for one will not be spending any money in New York until Gov. Cuomo is recalled and prosecuted for his crimes against humanity.

I'm a little late to the party! I have to say, I have a little hate hate thing going on for Mr. Blake. Uncle Sam took my beloved 1911 from me and replaced with that abomination back in 1986. It's an extremely accurate, reliable pistol. It's jut not a Browning. I know, that is a ridiculous argument, but it is still TRUTH in my mind. Funny thing is, my two favorite pistols right now are both 9mm and neither is a Browning design. They are both from Walther. The PPS, single stack sub compact and the PPX. Even more funny, I've never actually shot JMB's ultimate creation, the Wunder 9, though I've handle quite a few.

Yes, valve adjustment. These are shim over bucket top ends. skydoc_17 has a shim kit that he loans out if you buy your gaskets from him. Earl is a stand up guy and one of the most helpful and friendly people I have the good fortune of knowing. In fact, most of this motley crew will go out of their way to help another Venture Rider or anyone else for that matter. I can tell you that my '06 RSV was in darn near show room condition when I bought her from another member. The clock was right around 98K mi and I have put another 5k on her with zero trouble. According to the PO, the valves have never been adjusted. I will be checking them soon.

Those were Venture Line add on Bling. Part # ABA-26HCD-30-00 I did a quick and dirty search but didn't see anything NOS for sale.

Unc, Those Night Hawks were great little power houses! I had the Silver Hawk a while back. Not as cool looking but still a snappy little ride. BTW, My dislexia still makes me see Uncle Jedi when I see your tag! Now, back on topic; My '83 never got great MPG. I could coax 32 MPG if I road very carefully, but I averaged 29 MPG. She pulled like a V-Max and was happiest at 100 mph. I know the carbs and ignition were good as they were all new or rebuilt. My '86 averages around 38 MPG and my '06 got 39 and 42 MPG the two times I checked.

rear brake caliper issues
luvmy40 replied to loosebiker's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There is a repair for damaged threads in this situation. I've installed a couple on the old HD "Banana" calipers. It's a brass insert with a new bleeder valve. You drill and tap a larger hole and screw the two piece insert into the caliper. They used to available at any auto parts store. -
I'm going to try to remember to take some measurements when I get home this evening. With the possible exception of the lower fairings being in the way, I'd bet these drop guards will fit the Gen 2. Their website states they will fit some Yamahas, probably the Star line, maybe the Royal Star as well. They do, also state they will not fit the HD lineup that has lower fairings in place.

1984 Venture vxz1200
luvmy40 replied to David Cruz's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I doubt anyone would start that kind of mod on a bike with major engine issues but, I'd run a compression test before I started dumping time and money into the project. -
Plastics repair recommendation
luvmy40 replied to Pasta Burner's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Which side lower is damaged? I have a couple spares but I'll have to check to see which side and what color I have in good condition. -
PM Sent. Probably too far to make it work.

I just happen to have an'83 that runs great but isn't getting any road time. The rear tire is flat right now and I'm sure the battery needs a charge but I'd bet She'll start right up with a jump. Where are you located?

CRC also makes a non chlorinated brake cleaner that is an excelent degreaser and much less likely to damage plastics. I.e., it won't melt the plastic but it can discolor some so try it on a hidden bit first. I use this on my guns as well as brakes and engines. It's great for carbon build up. Be sure to recoat/oil anything that is prone to rust as it will strip any protective/lubricting coating off.

Great news Earl! Prayers for a speedy rouperation and a long life ahead!

Berryman B-12 Don't leave it too long, it is fairly aggressive. Just follow the MFGs directions.

Yep, I've never "Made Money" on a used bike. What I have done is log a bunch of miles for a little $ and usually end up getting enough out of them to start the next project when I get bored with the current ride. Though with the Ventures, I can't say I've gotten bored with any of them. The '83 is still fun to ride, the '86 is still SO comfortable, and the '06 is just stunningly beautiful. If space wasn't at a premium, I'd never get rid of any of them.

Take down 10/22? I like the butt stock. Looks nice and light. I sold off a couple safe queens to buy my '86 XVZ. Much as I like having nice shooters, I like riding more than looking at the collection pieces. We did just pick up a Keltec Sub2000 in 9mm, multi mag. Haven't gotten it to the range yet and already did a trigger job and swapped out all the replaceable plastic bits with MCARBO up grades.
