  1. I have always had good luck just using a 24" cheater or breaker bar on the drain plug and oil filter bolt.
  2. She won't believe us. Get Yama Mama to say it and you're golden.
  3. I see my misunderstanding here. I saw "40 Amp Relay" and thought "40 amp fuse". You should never down size the wire. Your wire should always be of equal load capacity or greater than your circuit protection device.
  4. As long as the straps are on the wheel and not compressing the rear suspension. I've done that as well if there might be rough roads on the trip.
  5. That should be a minimum of 10 awg. I'd probably opt for 8 awg on a 40 amp circuit.
  6. This is the ONLY way to tied your bike down! (Notice that, purely coincidentally it's an RSTD in the video!) You don't have to use the "Tank Straps". They are fantastic, but any quality heavy duty ratchet strap will work. It's the method/tie down point that is key. This method does not compress your supension and allows the bike to float as it would when ridden. No need to adjust your air ride pressure or any other adjustments. I have used this method many times with great success. DO NOT TARP YOUR TRAILERED RSV! It will destroy your paint.
  7. Buy it and keep the '83 too!
  8. Could be a bad ignition coil(s). Intermitten miss only after they heat up.
  9. I'd be interested!
  10. I just noticed my Hazard flashers only work when the key is in the run/on position. Is that normal for the Gen 2s? Seems useless to me. The gen 1 flashers worked regardless of key position.
  11. I had to buy the jet block plugs separately. They are not included in any kit I could find.
  12. Isn't there set of air wings for the lowers from Yamaha? could those be installed to allow them to divert air onto the rider's legs/feet?
  13. I've put about 7K miles on my '06 since I got her. I have never heard the infamous clutch whine. I do hear a slight murmur at some RPMs that might be considered a whine, but it's just barely audible and certainly not annoying. My wife doesn't hear it either so I can say it's not just the same frequency as my tinnitus. Is this phenomenon a hit or miss thing? Some RSVs whine and some don't? Is it possible that having well over 100K miles on the odometer has just mellowed the whine? Am I just lucky? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
  14. From the factory wiring diagram: Cylinder #1=Orange Cylinder #2=Grey Cylinder #3=Yellow Cylinder #4=White I did NOT verify this.
  15. Does anyone have any suggestions for a speaker upgrade on the Gen 2s? My left rear speaker has developed a buzz/distortion. All I'm finding on Amazon or eBay in marine, 4" speakers have permanent plastic grills. I don't think they'll fit in the fairing or passenger seat back.
  16. I haven't done one of theses but, a couple 2mm x 38mm o-rings would work. If there is an o-ring that would take the heat. These might work: https://www.theoringstore.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1908 https://www.theoringstore.com/pdfs/ss-b70-metric.pdf These would be better: https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Silicone-Ring-Sealing-Gasket/dp/B008MKY8TY
  17. https://smile.amazon.com/SealMate-Fixes-your-Leaking-Seals/dp/B00ECDLVB8/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=fork+seal+cleaner&qid=1628042791&sr=8-5 The above linked item can easily be replicated with a plastic milk jug.
  18. Praise God and pass the ammunition!
  19. Be very careful when using comresed air to extract brake caliper pistons. They can move quickly with extreme force. You could easily lose a finger if you are not careful.
  20. You really need to clean those pistons befor compressing them. I just use a piece of wood that fits and a couple c clamps.
  21. I'd love the flag and will gladly gift the bells to someone else if you just need to get rid of them.
  22. I've got about 1/4" "wiggle" at the pivot and a good 3/4" slop from the linkage. Shifts nicely.
  23. Best bet is to take it off and clean it up with hot water and dish detergent(Dawn) or Simple Green, Puprple power, etc. You want to take a look at the breather hose anyway.
  24. But what is their Tartan?
  25. But you will have to pay the core charge on the new battery!
