I ALWAYS look at Total Purchase Price, and sometimes I look at cost of ownership But NOT on a toy as it is just a toy, and if I pay cash I can buy more toys with the same amount of money and that is American becasue: He who dies with the most toys, wins........

harventure, So were do I get a bypass filter for a motorcycle at a reasonable price, say under US$100.

Don't forget about pressure bleeders and reverse flow pressure bleeders. I built a pressure bleeder for my cages and will use it on the bike IF I can adapt it.... Reverse flow pressure bleeders apply pressurized brake fluid at the bleeder screws and flow fluid from the slave cylinder to the reservoir.

So, what oil are you giong to use??????

final drive gets hot

Be sure to wipe off the magnet in the tip of the drain plug. Every time I change the engine oil, I change the final drive gear oil. there is not a lot in there and in three years I have just used up the quart of lube, I also replaced the aluminum crush washers on the drain and fill bolts with Nylon sealing washers. I also put a pea sized ball of Honda Moly60 in with the final drive gear oil as I have yet to find 100% synthetic gear oil with Molybdenum Disulphide in less than a 30 LB pail. -
On the financing and payments: I have paid cash for every bike I have ever owned. I cannot finance what for me is a toy. I have financed many cars, some homes, but never a toy, vacation or any entertainment.

DO NOT USE PVC PIPE. If it fails, you will have sharp pieces of pipe flying around your shop!!!!!! I tacked a cheep and inexpensive air hose I bought at Harbor Freight to the ceiling using the proper size plastic pipe clips. Easy, and inexpensive.

Which Spectro are they using????? Spectro makes a full synthetic, parasynthetic and dyno oils in 10w40....... Rotella has changed the names of its oils..... you want to buy Rotella T-6 to get the full syntethic.

When was the last time you changed the gear oil in the final drive? What oil did you use? -
I sold my first Harley due to arson. It was a in 1993. the bike was a 1992 H-D Heritage Classic Soft Tail (FLSTC) It was parked in a carport at a friends house off base near Yokosuka Japan while I was stationed on USS Mobile Bay (CG-53). It was two days before I was to return to port after a six month cruse and my bike was set on fire by some Japanese kids. The police did not find the perpetrators. No other damage as his car was not there. I did not have full coverage insurance as it was VERY expensive, so I took my chances and lost. I did not want to rebuild the bike so I sold it to a shipmate, but that is another story. I have a 1950 H-D FL that is currently for sale as I just don't ride it. My RSV is a LOT more comfortable than a sixty year old rigid framed chain drive bike....

Just like before every ride I turn the fuel petcok from OFF to ON. Check the tire pressure. Ride.

I probably should have said off highway racing. Sorry for the confusion I caused.

Dont import seafoam. to save a LOT of money I use Naphtha sold as Coleman Camp fuel (I think it is called white spirit in the UK) but don't buy the stuff from the hardware store as it usually is not as high a grade as Camp Fuel is. Here is a photo of Coleman Camp fuel in a one liter bottle from a UK website http://media.thesimplygroup.com/Coleman1LitreFuel/81567/1.jpg And a half liter can from Coleman UK website http://www.coleman.eu/UK/images/Product/medium/25799.jpg It is normally sold in one gallon cans here in the US http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/a2/b/AAAAAuBqmA4AAAAAAKKzxg.jpg here is a re-post of info I posted before:

you did note I said off PUBLIC road racing. this would include Drag Racing, and close course racing on road bikes. I would not use K&N air filters in any high dust environemt, UNLESS I had a deep budget to rebuild engines OFTEN.
-
I too would like to add a triple or quintuple flag mount to my RSV but I don't have a trailer hitch yet. Any suggestions????
-
The only place I would use K&N air filters is in off public road racing. More dirt gets into the engine increasing wear. The flow only comes into play when you are in a Wide Open Throttle (WOT) condition. my bike is in WOT only about 0.5% or less of its operating life, so the increased cost of purchase, increased nose, increased wear on the engine is not worth it for me.

Have you tried your local Yamaha Dealership? They should carry all the parts for your motorcycle. IF you ment to ask about non factory speakers, there are few choices on the market, most people go with the Polk Audio db401. clik HERE to go to Polk Audio's web page for this product. You need a 4" speaker that should be marine certified.......

Moly wont be squeezed out from the contact points like other greases will. Also, I will find it hard to use the three ounces I purchased in my lifetime......so I have to use it somewhere.

What turntable are you refering to?????? Threre is some amazings turntables HERE, but as far as I cant tell, it was not built by Lepapehermann

BTW the pins are on the "clutch Hub" that connect the final drive to the rear wheel. Yes you should use Honda Moly60 SPARINGLEY on the pins of the clutch hub and all the splines on your bike!!!!!!!!!!!! As Ruffy said, get it at a Honda or Acura Automobile dealership and save some money. My local Honda motorcycle dealership did not have it on the shelf and I asked if the service department used it the parts department manager said no, so that dealership will NEVER work on my bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
