  2. neat presentation, would have loved to understand the words of the background music.
  3. Yup shure enuff is, specially that there good looking feller standing next to you. I want to know about the ride home did you do all the rides you were telling me about when you left Gassaway, I did as much of the skyline and Blue Ridge as I could. What started out being a great ride after 10 to 12 hours of twisties a day it started becoming a little grueling. Whipped puppy dog by the time I got back.
  4. If your priceing through a Yamaha Dealer I don't doubt price at all the damage is probably minor if it was major at the cost of Yamaha OEM parts and labor who knows what the price would be. Last time Insurance company totalled my bike and paid me off I had it back on the road with $37.00 worth of parts off ebay and about $25.00 worth of materials to repair plastic parts. New paint job was a few hundred in materials, and my time. Still alot cheaper than the $4,000 Insurance paid me. I've been paid off 4 times when Insurance totaled my bike with an 87 any time it get knocked over and there is damage to plastic they total bike. I've gotten pretty good at fixing broken plastic.

  6. I know a great place when the time comes. Copperhead Lodge Motorcycle resort in Blairsville, Ga. They have an outdoor amphitheater stage right next to the swimming pool, great restuarant, Hotel rooms, cabins or tent camping right in the middle of great riding roads in N. Georgia, E. Tenneessee and Western N Carolina
  7. Audiences would be needed, it's no fun playing...... with yourself:whistling:.........By your self:doh:.............for your self:bang head:.......... With no audience appreciation:group cheers:
  8. OOOPS probably should remount the camera off the front mirror to get more of me and the bike in pics. But here's a pic of the bike from Daytona
  9. In have no idea where we will be staying other than we will be camping most of the way and snag a room along the way where we can to shower Ect. But I would like to meet up to coordinate the rides. We are planning all the rides you mentioned and it would be nice to hook up to do that together if possible.
  10. The Dragon tail being in my home riding range, it is a frequent destination in my rides. I've been up and down the Dragon probably about 35 times without incident of any kind. Not to say it's not a challenging road most of the wrecks are about crotch rockets trying to set speed records. Posted speed limit is 35 and Strickly enforced. The last few times I've been there every third to fifth vehicle was law enforcement. Another problem is that they allow tractor/trailer trucks, dump trucks, Winnebago's, Farm equipment on the road so that you may come around a blind twisties and up against the tail end of a 5 MPH dump truck. :bang head:I haven't riden the other road you mention but look forward to doing so on Sturgis Trip this year. Atlanta to Sturgis and Back 2008 fur sur this year.
  11. Thought Id post some pics of my trip to WV Skid In to Williamsport PA and back to GA via Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Pkwy.
  12. I'm planning to ride with some Harleys from Atlanta.
  13. Getting together a group of Riders (so far 4) to do an Atlanta to Sturgis run first (two) WEEKS OF AUGUST. Planning to do trip mostly camping with a few motel shower stops when necessary. Ride intended to be mostly touring with little party. Ride initiator says the more the merrier. Anyone interested.
  14. Got to be more musicians, I might suggest changing name of thread to mention music instead of undefined social group.
  15. Glitches happen that might not have been his fault, I'd want to be sure before I tore him a new one.
  16. If this is gonna be a new social group, will it have a name? and/ or a M & E jam session ride-in. with a dairy Queen stop ????????????????????????????
  17. Cracker Barrell Restuarants are responsible for starting me playing the harmonica. Once when I was doing a lot of business travel by car. I stopped in one for a meal. By the cash register they were selling c harps for $3.00 a piece. I bought one and started playing it along with the radio as I was driving. One $3.00 C harp has turned into a full set of 12 Johnsons that are being upgraded one by one to better harps. Now I don't leave home without them. If you ever see me on the bike my harps will be in the trunk and a C harp in my pocket. They are much easier to carry on the bike than say a piano, set of drums or a guitar.:whistling:
  18. I love to play every chance I get, usually in the clubs around here the bands will invite me up to do a couple of songs or at Karoke I'll get invited to accompany singers with the harp. Recently a guy heard me that has a recording studio and called me out of the blue to ask me if I would record the harmonica tracts on a CD they were producing. Soooooooooooooooooo, I spent one afternoon in the studio doing harp, background Vocals, and some spoken word tracts. It was a lot of fun. It probably won't make me rich or famous. But, I can now ad legitimately to my resume and business card: Recording Studio Artist along with: Emperior of The Universe Diabolical Genius Master of all I survey Published Author Legendary Lover Legend in my own mind
  19. I need one too! Figure I need all the help I can get.
  20. Ever since I've had my bike carb sync has been an on going problem. Early in my ownership I paid a shop $1,400 to rebuild, tune, and sync my carbs and they actually screwed them up worse than they were before. I've replaced my carbs, rebuilt my carbs, replaced my motor, installed new diaphrams and have never been able to get the carbs exactly synced untill this past week. I got them close enough for it to run pretty good by tunning by ear, trying to measure screw-in length on adjustment screws. But, last week during the West Virginia Skid-In M & E, Squidley put some Morgan Mercury gauges on the bike and I could see for the first time exactly what the carbs were doing. 1, 2 & 4 were semi close but #3 wasn't even in the ball park. In just a matter of minutes Squidley made some adjustments and I could see on the gauges how all four carbs came in sync. As soon as we got finished with the sync we all saddled up for and all day group ride. I could immediatly tell the difference in power, speed and performance. The sync increased mpg by at least 10 mpg's From that point I rode 1500 miles through West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, and back to Georgia. MyMileage averaged between 39.5 and 41.5 mpg which is better than it's ever done. Find a way to get the carb sync. There are multiple articles on carb sync proceedure and tools in the tech tip library. It does make a big difference.
  21. Don't try the Yamaha dealer in Gettysburg. I stopped in there on my ride to Ga from PA to get some brake pads. Sizing me up as a tourist he tried to charge me $50.00 for one set. I passed and rode on. Auto zone sells them for about $17.00 per set.
  22. I'm in, The only thing I love more than riding my VR is being on stage playing the blues harp. Sometimes I ride my bike and play the harp to myself.
  23. I dilengently stayed up late last night packing and getting ready for the trip. Was up at six to start the list of errands that had to be done before we could leave. My oldest son showed up right on time to drop off his trailer that we are using. However, he failed to mention that the trailer had wiring, wheel bearing, and coupler issues requiring four hours of trailer maintenance time to make it road worthy. Sooooo... we got a late start before we hit I285 ready to go. Then Boom.......bumper to bumper traffic. Once again off like a heard of........................................ Turtles Arrrrrgggggg Finally traffic started rolling on 85 somewhere near SC/GA line. But, we did make it, Skid-IN into Microtel somewhere around 12:30AM. Now I'm so excited about riding tomorrow I cant get to sleep. But I'll be ready bright and early. I just hope I don't get a sinking spell early in the day. And it don't rain. __________________
  24. If your talking 83-85 XVZ1200 and 87 XVZ1300 they will be jetted differently.
  25. Just so happens that I'm picking up an 84 parts bike in Williamsport,PA on Monday I was planning to part out on Ebay. It has all the unbroken plastic intack. The saddlebags and trunk probably won't do you much good but all the front fairing will fit the 87. I don't have to be back in Ga until Friday. If your interested and we can hook up in PA early in the week Your welcome to first shot at whatever parts you can use or want and I'll be glad to help you with your bike for as long as I can stay available. I'm at the Skid-in in WV through Sunday then PA on monday. My cell phone number is on my profile if you want to get in touch. Insurance companies have totaled and paid me off on my 87 four times. Wrote me a full value check and let me keep the bike. I just keep fixing the plastic, repainting it and keep riding it.
