Well, the folks in Quebec City, Canada apparently don't let the wintertime cool their need for speed. Check-out this video I saw on this evening's news broadcast: http://www.fox13now.com/news/seenontv/kstu-video-raw-video-red-bull-crashed-ice,0,7996998.worldnowvideo Enjoy! Pete.

Thanks to Brian (tx2sturgis) I got motivated and learned how to edit a video, add some titles and music and then posted it to YouTube. The only thing I couldn't figure out is how to export that video from YouTube to this site. Can anyone help me out? In the meantime here is a link [ame= ] [/ame] And here I though that half helmets where a little risky. Harry

I was sent this, and have not verified as to whether it is true or not. Regardless, whoever made the video should be commended for a job well done, IMHO. *** At a meeting of the AARP (American Association of Retired People) they showed a video that was submitted in a contest by a 20 year old. The contest was Titled 'u @ 50'. This video won second place. When they showed it , everyone in the room was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause. So simple and yet so brilliant. Take a minute and watch it. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42E2fAWM6rA]YouTube - Lost Generation[/ame] Cheers,

While keeping myself busy trying not to fret over my beloved Fins getting whipped I did some research on Deadwood and came across this really old video taken who knows when. I though I would share it with everyone. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd3rGsem-2E]YouTube - Return to Deadwood[/ame]

A lot of us have this video. A lot of us talk about watching the video. A lot of us recommend this video. But I never hear of anyone talking about their experiences trying these exercises. I've been on a handful of rides with others, and I don't get the impression that very many of us are actually practicing these. Is anyone actually getting out and trying this stuff? Let's hear some other's experiences. Today is the first really warm day we've had around here. We could ride around without feeling cold, and come back home and still not feel cold. I've been riding my bike for a couple weeks now. But Lori hasn't been on her bike for six months. She gave up early last fall. Over the winter I acquired a few old tennis balls from a tennis teacher friend of mine to cut in half and use for cones. So today Lori and I went to a parking lot and tried a few of these. I've been riding street bikes, dirt bikes, and three wheelers for the past 24 or so years, and I consider myself a relatively decent rider. Dirt bike experience definitely helps a lot in street riding skills. Even so I would have admitted that I could use some improvement in my low speed handling skills. But good grief. In my very first attempt at this, I felt like I was trying to drive a semi truck and trailer through a miniature golf course. The pros in the video sure make it look a lot easier than this. I got better pretty quick though. Not the best, but a lot better. Lori was doing pretty well too, especially for her first ride of the year. We only got through exercises 2 and 3 though. It was really quite a lot of fun. All we could do was laugh when we messed up and didn't do something right. Success, in that neither of us dumped our bikes either. I'm looking forward to getting out and doing some more of these again. Are some you getting out and trying these? Let's hear how you're doing.

Hey folks - tradition has it that around this time of the year, I pull together a bunch of pictures from the previous riding season, draw out some songs from my music collection, and put together a "riding year in review" video. This year's video is dedicated in memory of our friend, Stephen Buck. I may have got a little carried away with this year's exercise, and so I've had to split the video up into 4 parts so that it could be posted to YouTube. Here is the link to the various parts: Part 1 - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28CxiZjbBXU]YouTube - 2008 rides_Part 1.wmv[/ame] Part 2 - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-72g0GQzxo]YouTube - 2008 rides_Part 2.wmv[/ame] Part 3 - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHXGzvtTN3o]YouTube - 2008 rides_Part 3.wmv[/ame] Part 4 - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFMsqZl0Yqc]YouTube - 2008 rides_Part 4.wmv[/ame] Enjoy!

On our vacation we went to Mackinaw City, Mi. To get there we crossed the Mighty Mac. This bridge is impressive. To get all the details on the bridge visit it's web site [/url]http://www.mackinacbridge.org/. It is 5 miles long and is the third longest suspension bridge in the world and the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere. First trip across, the video run time is 6:05 minutes. This is how long it took us to cross the bridge doing the speed limit of 45mph. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpaaFCTYZOY]YouTube - Crossing the Mackinac Bridge[/ame]

While I am waiting on my new tires to get here I decided to go try some of the techniques in "Ride Like a Pro V". Well I certainly found out that I am nowhere near as good hauling this big gen1 around as I am an XR400! I also found out the hard way that I needed the first thing taught in the video....how to get your bike back upright! One of the things that is stressed in the video is to practice in a controlled setting so you don't have to learn things the hard way, in an uncontrolled setting! I'm glad my spill happened in a parking lot, and not on the road! I scraped up a bag protector and ended up with a stubbed middle toe, but other than that me and the bike are both ok. The little women in those videos sure make things look easy. It is amazing at how agile they are on these huge bikes! The one thing they have done to get their skills to where they are is to practice. I obviously have a lot more practice to do before I can even get close to their skill level, and before I let my wife on the back of the bike. I will also plan on practicing the skills taught in the video with her on the back. I've already got 4 fused vertebrae from being foolish. I don't want to add any more battle scars to my collection or start a collection for her! I'm glad that I've found this site, everyone has been very helpful. I will follow and learn from others, and help out when I can. The internet is such an amazing place, and I hope I will eventually get to meet many of you in person Also, now that I've had a chance to read more....I'm not sure if I really need a crotch rocket with suitcases, so I'll ride my mkII very reserved, and as much in control as I can get her. I appreciate all the camaraderie that I've observed at VR!

I knew that Swifty practiced his riding skills while the bike sat safely in his living room! Now we have proof! Man, I just wish I had video! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/48B5ECCA00031453000044B922165279-1.jpg What Style! Get that knee down!!! Go, Swifty, Go!!!

Have you ever seen that You-tube video by an American biker in, I think, Japan about the various waves bikers have? He has a helmet mounted video and is a good rider, going through heavy traffic like a pro, while demonstrating various waves, ending with his wild mockery including turning around looking backwards and waving both hands like shooting guns (or something similar). well, yesterday, I came upon a biker (Harley of course) that seemed like he had seen that video and was making fun of those of us that do a brotherly wave at other bikes. He took both hands up in a "quotes" style series of moves. Made me laugh. Still, am sad for the mostly Harley riders that seem too stuck up to bother waving at a metric rider. Guess they are too busy dreaming of being in the next "Wild Hogs" movie! LOL
