    Just Bought

$400 for this trailer, I think it was a good buy. Here are some pics:
  4. Has anyone seen the sport uhaul trailer? Saw one today, looks like it would make a good motorcycle trailer. It had alot of tail lights and a fairly long tounge. tew47
  5. I have found a recessed trailer hitch for my '08 RSTD. (About $160.) I have seen some of you with a rack that attaches to the trailer hitch to hold coolers or small luggage. Where did you get these or did you make them yourself. I'm looking for something to use on my out of state rides. Thanks!
  6. Next weekend I'm picking up a gently used Piggybacker trailer. I would like to get the componets to wire it this week but I have no clue on what is needed. Can someone out there point me in the right direction on this. Thanks for the help.
  7. I need to know how many of you have gotten the Higher Output Stator and what you think of it?? Is 55 watts enough for allot of lights?? As we all know the VENTURES is not enough. I want to add some more lights and with pulling the trailer I know I will be under powered on the stator. I just keep adding more stuff more:mo money: on my favorite VENTURE................Ron
  8. Got the new I basket installed today. Raining so I haven't had a chance to see if it made a difference or not. Brought the bike home in the trailer. Just driving into the trailer it sounded quieter. Will know in the morning when I ride it to work.
  9. I havent been on in a while. My wife is in Minnesota taking care of her mother after a surgery. (Mother-in-law is doing well.) I'll be leaving Tuesday going out to Camp Pendleton, Oceanside Ca. driving a 26' U-Haul with all their possessions loaded up in it. And my bike loaded in a trailer. Looks like i will have a friend riding out with us. He will be riding his 1100 honda shadow back with me. going to bed now with a major headache. I'll be dreaming about adding them new states.
  10. I built a trailer last year. The hubs were brand new and greased very well. Made one trip with it last summer and put 1700 kilometers (1056 miles) on it. I am going on another trip leaving this weekend and will be putting approx. 3500 kilometers (2175 miles) on it. How often do the bearings need greasing? Would they need it already?
  11. Here is a question for all the electrical engineers we have on the site. Since I am having trouble locating a trailer isolator to tow the trailer I just got with independent turn signals and brake lights at a somewhat reasonable cost, would it be possible to just hard wire individual diodes into each wire to protect the bike from shorts that could occur in the trailer? The trailer lights would still power from the original bike lighting but, would this not protect it from a back-feed situation blowing fuses on the bike? Since I have no idea what amperage standard 1156 and 1157 bulbs pull, I would need to know what diodes to use that would accommodate the 12 Volts and the amperage draw but, I don't see why it would not work. I know many have just hard wired their trailers straight but, I suppose I am the cautious type. Diodes would be cheap insurance I believe and they cost little at Radio Shack. I thought about just installing them in-line and covering with heat-shrink. Perhaps installing them into a very small project box would be better. What do you all think? Dog
  12. Hey I ran across this website while responding to an article on another forum. My little cargo trailer uses torsion axles, and I highly recommend them. Here is a way for the trailer builders on here to put a nice axle under their home-made or harbor freight trailer. They come in 425lb and 550lb sizes for our use. http://www.etrailerpart.com/halftorsionaxles.htm
  13. Sorry everyone...I thought I had already posted who won the trailer....guess the week and weekend fried my brain worse then I thought. The winner of the beautiful Bushtec trailer was Darrell Steuer, a.k.a. Maddabber. Congratulations Darrell! I have to also give out a really big thanks to Bushtec for their amazing support of this group and this event. Without the deal thatthey give us for this trailer, we would never be able to have the trailer raffle.
  14. if anyone is looking or interested we are going to sell our trailer. We never use it and want to put the money towards a camper. Im going to list it on ebay tonight.......but if anyone from here wants it , they get first dibbs, Id even stop the auction for you ... its a 1998 Starlight...... maybe about 125 lbs..i can move it around easily. The frame was sandblasted and heavy duty primed and then painted 3 yrs ago.....the tub was removed and repainted...a cpl years ago we revarnished the wood rails on the top. Has a spare..tires are in good condition...all lights work, all the lights u see in pics are lights, none are reflectors...has bearing buddys on wheels. looks wet in the picture cause it is...... I sprayed it off as it was dusty from the garage Can send more pics if anyones wants. there is a small scratch on the spoiler

    The Trailer

This is for us losers - you know, the ones that did NOT win THE TRAILER. Who is most disappointed? On a scale of 1 to 10, with disappointed to the point of wanting to kick the dog being a 10. 1 being, ho-hum, didn't want it anyhow. For me, it would be a 5. I wanted it, but won't loose any sleep over it.
  16. I am looking into buying a trailer for my 2005 RSV. I am wondering about the difference in towing agility between the one wheel (like the N line) or a traditional 2 wheel trailer. Also any recomendations about hitches and difficulty installing them. Thanks

    Who won the trailer?

The wait is killing me. Who won the trailer from the big meet in Kitchener?
  18. My '89 VR & trailer have matching 5 pin square connectors for the trailer wiring. My '06 RSV also came with a 5 pin square connector. The problem is the '06 RSV & trailer are both male plugs. So I thought I'd just buy a new set & replace the male plug on the RSV with a female plug, like the VR has, and then the trailer would work on either bike. But where the heck do you find these plugs? I've looked at all the auto parts stores & on the net and can't find them anywhere. Can't find something on the internet...?...what's up with that?! I could go with a 6 pin and just not use the last pin (trailer brakes), but then I'd probably have to swap out 3 sets of plugs to get everything to be able to connect together. But after searching with no luck I'm starting to think I should do just that...for some reason the 5 pin square plugs seem to be top secret or something! Anyone know where I can find them?
  19. The trailer raffle ticket sales have died down to nothing and we are only about half-way there. We need to sell more tickets to be able to afford that trailer. As Don mentioned in the first thread on this issue......if we don't sell enough tickets to buy the trailer......I take the money and go to Mexico...NO..NO..just kidding!! If we don't sell enough tickets to be able to buy the trailer, then we will either buy one large price ( not sure what that would be) for whatever amount of money we have raised or buy a few smaller but nice prizes such as GPS units...maybe a few satellite radios....some nice prizes. Trailer tickets can be purchased - 1 for $10.00 or 3 for $25.00 by sending me your payment by PayPal to: reinyrooster@hotmail.com
  20. Looking for a trailer hitch for my 1984 venture, If you have one you would sell please let me know. Thanks
  21. I'm trying to get a non running 84VR from PA to GA. What I really would like to do is ride my 87 VR :7_6_3[1]:up there via Blue Ridge Pkwy/Skyline Drive towing a trailer that I can load 84 VR on and tow back via interstate. Is it possible to come up with some trailer configuration considering weight/load distribution to safely tow one VR with another one? Does anyone have any experience doing this, is it possible. Does anyone have any advice? __________________

  23. I have been trying to install the Modulite trailer lighting module tonight and am having a problem. I have followed the instructions in the tech area and am sure that I have all the wires correct. Problem is when I connect the last wire..........brown (tail) from the modultie to the blue on the bikes harness.................... not only do i not get lights on the trailer, I also loose my light bars. Any thoughts on what might be causing this??????????? I would really like to finish this tonight and put the bike back together.
  24. I just purchased (stole!) a 2001 Kendon dual trailer to haul my 2000 MM RSV on. Haven't loaded the RSV on it yet and thought I should ask everyone who trailers their RSV what I should look to do when tying it down? Any words of wisdom on Kendon trailers? Thanks,
  25. I have a 6 x 12 enclosed trailer and getting ready to install the wheel chock (BTW-Thanks DoubleD) It is a single axle. Any suggestions where to install it? I think if I went all the way to the front the tongue weight would be too much. I guess it also may depend on how the existing d ring tie downs are positioned because I want to make sure at least the front ones provide the ability to compress the front forks. Oh, and before you trailer biggots start in on me:whistling: I'm not going to be hauling my bike. I am getting it installed to assist a friend whose bike was vandalized at his work. Thanks for any assistance.
