  1. I am about to install what I consider a unique exhaust collector on my 88. I is custom built by Mark's Pipes out in Hisperia, Ca (I think anyway). Has anyone known anyone to install this custom after market exhaust collector or perhaps done so themself. This ceramic coated collector elimates the box-type baffled collector and connects them to the exhaust with exhaust the same diameter as the exhaust headers. This collector allows each exhaust header to be directly connected to the exhaust. Should be a great improvement in the air flow. Does anyone have any information pertaining to this product and other modifications that had to be performed, i.e, jetting? Help.
  2. Hi there! Some months ago I posted on Kuryakyn handles for the 1st gen. Then there was the fact that the left one was too loose, so someone here suggested I put hockey tape around the handle. So I set them aside. Now I went to install them a few days ago. Did the hockey tape thing on the left, it's nice and tight. For throttle however, I can't put the housing back on. The shaft seems a little too big. If i put it next to the old one it looks identical but it really is just the housing. If I force a side on, there is no more play for the accelerator to come back in it's position. How on earth is anyone install these? On the package it's written 6235. If I remember correctly from my previous thread, that this was the correct one to get...so I'm certainly not the only one with this problem...unless I got the wrong ones in the pack...in that case nice waste of :mo money:they cost me almost $100! Can anyone help. The old left one is cut up and in the garbage already long gone and new one is glued. Thanks in advance for the help!
  3. I have a couple questions. I have a 07 RSV. Just got my 2 sets of J&M Elite 584 Series headsets. Is there anyone in (preferably) Edmonton that can install these in full face Shoei helmets. Anyone hear that knows how to install them professionally knows that there is some cutting to do. I am not comfortable in doing it. There is some pretty stiff plastic in the ear area. I am hoping that there is someone hear that has done this a few times and has gotten over being uncomfortable doing the install. Thanks, Greg
  4. im looking to install an ipod unit into the 87. i bought the bike 4 days ago, so please be patient. I have read the forums and the manual and it appears there is a jack in the front fairing(?). If that is the case, i would have to install an amp(if audio logic is serving me right). What advice can you guys give?? thanks again.
  5. OK -- how difficult is it going to be for me to install a CD changer on a 2000 RSV? Am getting one and was hoping the bike would be prewired for it, but apparently I have read that my hopes have been dashed. Pretty sure all cables and stuff will be included, as it came out of another RSV.
  6. Took my bike to dealer today about the clutch whine and was told Yamaha does not replace clutch baskets anymore. But will install BUBs slipons instead. What do youall think of this? tew47
  7. No matter how I enter the searches, I cant find the part numbers for the Honda windshield vent.... and how to install it? Can somebody help me find this data?
  8. How hard would it be to install this AMP in the fariing to give the speakers just a little more volume? I'm not sure I understand what would be hooked up to it. Any insight would be helpful, picutures would be better. Thanks, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320145497919&rd=1
  9. Any suggestions on how and where to install a sirius radio on my 2007 Venture.Thanks.
  10. I'm about to install the Flanders and new lines that I ordered a few months ago. Can't seem to find the install instructions I thought I'd printed off. Anyone know if there's installation instructions posted here or where? I've sent an email to Rick as well since I couldn't remember if he'd sent them to me...........good grief the memory ain't what it used to be... Thanks for any help!
  11. anybody have any ideas on a location to mount a mp3 player on the 07 RSV? i'm not going to install a CD player for the mp3 will hold a lot more tunes.
  12. My son wants to install a cig. lighter type electrical outlet on his Nomad to power his ipod or cellphone. He wants to wire it directly from the battery, and since it's a 12 volt outlet, he thinks he doesn't need to install an inline fuse. I think he should install a 10 amp inline fuse. Who's correct? I know there's many of you electrical geniuses out there and any info. would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  13. Hey, I am trying to switch out the existing stock radio with a new radio and was wondering if someone could tell me what the 8 wires on the harness that hooks upto the amp is for. I have indentified the 4 for the speakers but the 4 I am not clear on are the red, red with black stripe, orange, and yellow. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  14. Hi all! Got my RSTD back from it's check-up (clutch basket not in yet so it will have to go back later) and it's CB install. Question/Problem is this: Sounds like I have an nest of angry bees in my helmet that increase with RPM'S and speed. This is one of the J&M new ones that does the NOAA weather and all. It works great other than that annoying, very loud buzz. This was a dealer install so what do I tell the guys when I go back for my clutch basket change? Do I need a filter somewhere or what? Thanks in advance again for all your help! Ride safe, Becky
  15. Can anyone help with directions to install a headlight visor on a 2nd gen.
  16. I took the numbers Freebird posted on replacement u-joints to Advance Auto and had them cross referenced. I ordered one for about $10 and picked it up today. When I tried to install it, I found it was slightly smaller than stock. The diameters are the same, but if you measure the distance between the grooves that hold the c-clip, in the generic I had it was 35mm and the stock is 37mm. Does anyone have a generic one that they can measure between these grooves? You can install it, but when you pull the caps outward as far as they will go there is play in the joint. RandyA
  17. Has anybody installed a tach on an RSV. I had a first gen venture before and other bike also and always had a tach. The bike fills bare without one. I guess I'm from old school just have to have a tach. Anyway does anyone have one and can post pictures of it. I've looked in catalogs but just not sure what to get and what it would look like. We don't have to many bike shops here in Canada that carry to many accessories in stock so that I can have a look at one. And where is the best place top install it.
  18. My son came in and helped me get my Insta-Trike mounted and aligned, then we took it out for a test run. He seemed to adapt to the new style of riding more easily than I did, but we both agreed that the stability and control seem fine, though we haven't tried highway speeds yet. I have attached a pic with saddlebags and fenders still off - I took lots of the entire install sequence if anyone is interested. Everything fit extremely well, and aside from rather sketchy instructions I had no problems at all. Now for the wiring, lights, etc... Charlie
  19. Will I need to re-jet an '05 RSV if I install a set Bub Sleeper slip-ons?
  20. I installed an AM-42 on rear Rim today. Easyiest tire install I ever did. Only took 5 min with two 10 inch tire irons. Did not have any trouble getting it to Seal. So far, so good.
  21. Has anyone tried the levelers for the RSV. I have not seen any picture of what the bike looks like with them. And what you think of them once you have install them on your bike.
  22. I bought Mudflaps for my RSV today. I want to mount them but dont have any idea where to start. They have 2 holes in them to mount but I do not want to drill holes in the fender. How did you install yours and how secure are they. I really dont want to lose them.
  23. From a saved tech install article... unknown contributor who will probably announce him/herself... With all this talk about adding better horns to our ride I found these and mounted them to my ride in the stock location. Right side just forward and below the passenger foot. These are the one's I used from here: http://www.adventurersworkshop.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=STEBEL_COMPA CT_CHROME&Category_Code=Stebel_Air_Horns Included are a couple of pic's on how they look on the bike. For mounting the horn I used an "L" bracket Bolted to where the Grounding strap mounts onto the engine. and mounted the relay under the cover just beside the right foot of the passanger. I also have an easy wiring instructions. A. Pink horn wire goes to RELAY POST 85. B. Brown horn wire goes to Relay Post 86. C. Connect one end of a wire to Relay Post 30 and the other end to the Hot side,+, of the compressor D. Connect end of your 20 amp Fused line to Relay Post 87 and the other end to the Hot Post,+, of your Battery. E. Connect the negative,-, on compressor to ground or neg,-, post on battery By using your wiring instructions, does this disconnect the OEM horns? I like your set up and God only knows that the RSV horns leave a lot to be desired. If it is as easy as you say -- then even I can install this thing. http://www.adventurersworkshop.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=STEBEL_COMPACT_CHROME&Category_Code=Stebel_Air_Horns At 139dB these horns are extremely loud and provide that "rock concert" ringing in your ear if you are too close when it goes off. I've been told that it can be heard almost 3 city blocks away! YEEEOOOWWW! Dimensions The Compact Nautilus chrome horns are 4 3/4" tall, 2 3/4" wide, and 4 1/4" deep. Yes I only had to remove the OEM horn from it's place and then add the new horn where the old one was. The other horn under the faring is still there and still connected and working. As for wiring just follow those instructions and everything will work like it should. The plug on the OEM horn I just cut into 2, their was a small V shaped plastic piece holding the 2 wires together. Once the V piece is cut you can then plug them into the relay directly. I mounted the relay under the battery cover on the side.
