  1. Greetings. Just finished a kind of a neat "Fender Trim Rail" modification on my Royal Star and wanted to share it with you. I had bought a "Mascot", the "Chrome Fender Tip" as well as the "Fender Trim Rail" even though the dealer told me that the "Rail and the Tip" would not look good together - the fender would look overdressed and the Trim Rail would hide/shade the fender tip so there was no logic in putting both on the bike. Me being a stubborn eskimo demanded all items and said that I would at least have an option of what to put on. To cut a long story short I saw when trying these on that the dealer was right - with both items the front fender looked overdressed and the Chrome Fender Tip was barely visible since the trim Rail hid it almost completely. But have a look at the pictures. I think I came up with quite a nice looking solution for putting all items on with a little modification to the trim Rail. How to do this is easy or as follows: Cut off the lower tubing of the Trim Rail. Have a workshop with a lathe make an insert that goes into the tubing but has the same diameter as the outside of the tubing at the end. Have them drill through the center and make threads. On the end of the Fender Trim Rail (the end that attaches to the fork/fender) drill a 4 mm hole so you can run wires through the tubing. Buy some LED lights at www.fortech-online.com/ (they have all kinds of neat vintage looking lights) and luckily the bottom radius of the lights chrome housing is exactly the same as the outside radius of the Trim Rail tubing. Open up the headlight and connect your wires to the blue wires inside the housing (there are two blue wires connected to one blue wire - the only ones with that color in the housing). Connecting this way makes the lights stay on constantly when bike is running regardless of high or low beam. They can of cause also be connected to the blink wire of the turn signal but that way they will only come on when you put the turn signal on. I am sure there are many other options in connecting these but I am not very clever when it comes to electricity so I leave other suggestions to those who have knowledge. The pictures show before and after to show the difference of these two different setups. Enjoy !
  2. As some of you know by now both me and my daughter who's 14 are amateur musicians. I have been a Fender man all my life but my daughter has went to the dark side and become a Gibson fan (just kidding I love me all), so a friend of a friend made arrangements for her to have a private VIP tour of the Gibson Guitar Tour Bus. The guys treated her like a celebrity and it was a very special visit for us both. Thought I would posta couple of pics they took. They even gave her an $8,000 59 re-issure Les Paul to play around on, very cool indeed!! 3. If you read the description, he mentions factory upgraded paint job, passing lamps, wrap around fender rail, custom exhaust, much more but the bike has none of those things....... hmmmmmmm http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-1999-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Star-Upgrades-20k-Mi-EC_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ50045QQihZ020QQitemZ300190103313QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  4. Hey Guys: Have a Silver 05 RSV, put the star passing lamps on and after a year or so I still don't really like them. I was thinking of putting the Kuryakyn Large bullet lights on the front fender struts. Has anyone done this and how do they feel about them over the "stock" passing lamps? Sponge Bob
  5. I have my bag rails and front fender rails coming in on Friday and wanted to install this weekend...If anyone has done this, is there something to the install that I might need to know that would make it easier....I know I have to drill a hole in the front fender and if I want to lower the bag rails in the rear another hole will need to be drilled in the back (venturers.org site). Any tricks, shortcuts, tools that make this easier please reply.. George in Virginia:feedback:
  6. looking at this and its listed for 86-91 ventures but how different is the 86 front fender from the 84? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/86-91-YAMAHA-VENTURE-ROYALE-CHROME-FENDER-EMBLEM_W0QQitemZ230157714885QQihZ013QQcategoryZ10066QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  7. Yesterday as first time on the second year I have the bike, I noticed that there was some oily cover on the area of the rear fender close to the plate holder. Is the rubber hose that is on the area comming from the engine or some other part? I never noticed that before, but is this a meaning the the engine is sending oil out? or this is normal for the bikes? Thanks for any opinions, :detective:
  8. hello all, Statement: I have a rear fender rack for my 97 RSTD. Question: Does anyone know what other years it would fit? (I'm thinking of selling it on ebay and I think that fact might be helpful). thanks in advance.
  9. Looking for a used or new fender rack to fit my 97 RSTD. Not sure if they even made one. Thanks!! Andy andyt@peak.org
  10. I pick up the RSV this Friday -- this is my 6th bike so I know "generally" what to look for and go over. Do you have any specific hints for the RSV? I really start at a very base-line level of -- IF THE FRONT BRAKE FLUID DOESN'T SPRAY ALL OVER THE FENDER then things are pretty good! (Yup, actually happened to me on a purchase day!) Many thnx, DREBBIN
