  1. Things have been a little crazy here at work. Haven't been able to spend much time on the site. Did anyone pick a date for the Jan meet n eat in Clear Lake IA?
  2. okay folks, not much has been happening on our committee, but here is what we have to date. cindy will be opening the registration in the very near future. we have gotten most of the rally costs together. the dinner will be on thursday night, and as of now will be the hub restaurants ultimate prime rib and fried chicken, and all the trimmings. randall who owns the hub says it is the worlds best. if you plan on bringing kids , we have that covered with a special price for 12 years and under. registration fee will cover the final meal in the hall, a t-shirt with a neat logo by freebird, a matching patch, a really neat name button so every one knows who you are. we will have a slight discount for couples registering. there will be a vendor area inside the airconditioned hall, so if you want to contribute something there like having something you want to vend contact me or danob11, who is in charge of vendors. since the hub has a really nice restaurant on site we are going to have a breakfast buffet every morning which will be pay when you eat. since i like my coffee at 5 in the morning. i am going to see that the early risers are covered, if i have to make it myself. i'm sure i can pressure the hub to do that for us guys. still busting our butts to make this the best meet of all. not trying to out do anyone but just want to have every one to have a good time and no complaints. if i forgot anything i hope the rest of the committee will chime in and let everyone know. bill to the 2009 international rally :clap2:
  3. Just a reminder that any of you that were thinking about riding to Cody Wy next year, your chance to put in your 2¢, and pick a date that'll work for you, is ending next week on the 21st. We need your input. Cody'09 is going to be a low key affair with some great rides, a few meet'n'eats, with a last night diner gathering wrapped around some great riding in some awesome country. Some of the planning wheels are already in motion. We've started looking into T-Shirts, and lining up some inexpensive... as best we can...lodging. The lodging search can kick into gear in earnest once you decide on the date. So we need your vote. CODY'09 POLL
  4. We had a Metzler 880 marathon come apart on a run yesterday and thank goodness we were only doing 45mph at the time. The tire shop was only a couple miles away and when we got to the shop there were 2 guys there who had there Metzler's come apart also. the date of manufacture on there tires was 08 with less the 5k miles and the guy in our group his date was 07 with a little over 6k on his tire. I like my AVON'S and think I will stick with them. The Dunlap 2's were great on my 1st Gen and I loved how they handled. But on this 2nd Gen I will stick with AVON'S. If your running Metzler's be careful and check them often. We have Bikefest 08 going on out here now and bikes are everyware.................................................Ron
  5. It's been my understanding that all the '83 1200TDK Royale's came in Gold, and the standard 1200TD's came in Red, plus a Black Midnight. That's what it also says for the colors in the tech section. Well guess what kimosabe?? I just bought a 1983 1200TDK in RED.... The born on date shows 10/83, but the serial number is a low DA000316. From the date I thought it might be possible to have a late '83 model that had received '84 clothing. But the serial number says it's the 216th Royale built? I like to play detective and figure things out by looking at the clues, but this thing has me stumped??? It's definately rare...
  6. At the start of a thread, there is a date but on each of the contributor's messages to the thread there is no date, hence if I am scrolling a thread, I have no idea if the latest entry is yesterday or a month ago. Same with any entry (other than latest) if I want to quote someone and respond. CAn dates be added to each contributor to a thread to let us know how recent the entries are? Thanks, Marv.
  7. My Zumo got sicky-poo , so it's off to Kansas tomorrow . Not to see Dorothy or the Wiz , but to get fixed . For the last several months , my touch screen has been a bit touchy or shall I say "Stucky" . Also the screens would switch to other prompts or not even respond to commands . These issues happened every once in awhile for the past few months , but I thought it was the cold that affected it . Today it was in the 70's and suddenly it froze up ..... I mean froze!!!!!! I followed every trouble shooting tip in the manual without prevail , so I call Garmin's tech support. I got my Zumo when they first came out . I've logged over 25K on it , downloading routes and other info. , keeping the memory down to a minimum . Making sure I kept up on all the updates as well . As I spoke to the nice gentleman on the phone (Garmin's Tech support), explaining what the Zumo was doing and what all I did to try to correct the issue , it mentioned that I did all that what could be done as if he had told me what to do . So after telling him my serial # of the Zumo , he checked on the registration date to see that my Zumo's warranty was definitely out , way out of date it was . The next words out of his mouth was , "Let me give you a RMA# to return the unit back to us for repair , UNDER WARRANTY!" ....WOW , I couldn't believe it as I got my Zumo back in mid year '06 . He also said that it would take about 10 days for repair and a few more days to return . They are also going to send me a new security screw that I lost out of the cradle and a new security screwdriver that I misplaced . So tomorrow , it's off to get repaired , if not replaced and at no charge . Though my cuz works as an engineer at Garmin in the avionics division , (snicker-snicker) and I didn't mention it to Garmin , I am total surprised ! And will be back in Hog-Heaven in somewhat 2 weeks from now when it returns . I hope my wife doesn't tells me to get lost now , cause I actually will now without my GPS .:rotf: BEER30
  8. Looks like Fri 07 Mar at 1:00PM (1300HRS) might be the best date & time hope to see all of you at Bikeweek. U.S.N.F. River Forest Group Campground 45700 river forest blvd. DeLand , FL. 32720 http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=e...UTF8&om=0&z=11
  9. Just to let everyone know. Over the next few days, we will be doing some housekeeping and deleting the older, and out of date threads. We have threads going back to 2006, and most are no longer germane.
  10. Hi Everyone, I wanted to let everyone know the 2008 VR calendars will be available for order until Feb. 16th. To make sure everyone gets a full 12 & 24 month calendar I went in and changed the starting dates. The starting date on both are now February 2008. Any orders from today until the 2-16 deadline will receive the updated version. To date we have sold 44 units and raised $264.00 for the cause. That will help buy a lot of Water, Ice & Goodies for this years events. Let's keep those orders coming. Thanks, The Calendar Team Order Calendar Click Here http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fAcctID=1318879
  11. Are you ready to lay 'em down? One of my Southern Cruiser Brothers and I have started a forum for Motorcycle entusiasts as a support group to kick the habit. We have just started it and I posted it locally. Since I am a member here, I thought there may be some of you who would like to join us. There is no cost. Official start date is Saurday, December 1st, so go buy your Chantix, gum or lozenges this week and join the soon to be smoke free! Check it out: http://forums.delphiforums.com/smokeout
  12. There's a couple of guys on the other Venture website that are reporting some pretty decent mileage on their '99 RSV's. One guy has 192,000 on the odo, another has 155,000, and still another just turned 120,000, all with no major work done on the bikes to date other than routine maintenance. Man, I think that's quite a testament to these bikes. Anyone else here sporting that type of mileage. I may be riding this baby for quite a long time.
  13. I have set the date for Saturday, October 27, 2007. I have set the time for 1:00 pm for us to arrive at the hospital. I have confirmed this date with Dennis Johnston at St. Jude Childrens Hospital and they are more than happy to accomodate us on that date. What they will need to know is aprox. how many to expect so they can have ample parking available for us. We will be given a tour of the hospital and its facilities while we are there. If we have a large group of more that 15 or 20 they will need to break us up into two groups. As for bringing something for the kids, he is going to send me a list of things that would be acceptable, since they dont want anything brought in that might harbor harmful bacteria.....no stuffed animals in one of the no no's. He is also sending a guideline for the tour. I will post all of that info as soon as I receive it. So if you plan on attending, please let me know for sure no later than Oct. 19th. Thanks to all who have donated and/or planning on attending this meaningful event. This is for me a 1 day event, I will be leaving Memphis to return to Atlanta after we have done everything and have had a nice meal. If anyone would like to add to the amount that we have already raised at Vogel, you can send them to me at my snail mail or Paypal. Just pm me and let me know how you would like to do it. Thanks again.
  14. AS a result of the poll results regarding the date for the 2008 VentureRider International Rally being held in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada and last nights meeting, the date for this event has been set as July 7-10, 2008. That's Monday - Thursday. Sorry to those for whom those dates don't work....we chose the week that had the highest positive hits on the poll. There will be more details in the next few days regarding the location, nearby motels etc.
  15. I didn't want to wait too long I know lots of folks need to get their dates in for vacations by the beginning of the year. So here it goes: August 6 thru 10th of 2008 will be the date for the Asheville event. That was the date that got the most votes and a few said either was good. I have heard from some that they'd like to go to the Biltmore house I know they have group rates, but you have to call. So this week I'll call and find out what that would be. I know one of our members was involved with a car group that went so I may tap him for help on this. I'm figuring maybe that friday would be the best day for this. I know with all the events it's hard to choose, at least this way you have advanced knowledge on when this will be. I'll post with any other details as time goes on. I'm going to ask the advice of others who have organized events like this. This is the first time I'll be organizing something so big, just hope I can give you all a good time. If you're interested in checking out what's at the Biltmore here's their web address: http://www.biltmore.com/visit/default.asp Margaret
