1. When I saw the title of this thread, I immediately thought of the WKRP episode. That was one of my favorite episodes. Dale.
2. What a terrible thing to have happen. That is one of my biggest concerns when riding. You just don't know for sure if the moron behind you will stop at the light. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Dale
3. We were there 2 years ago and again this past July. The first time we stayed at the Venitian, which was awesome! All the rooms are suites, and nicely laid out. The second time we went, we stayed at Caesars Palace. We heard that part of it had been renovated, and part of it needs to be renovated. Guess which section they stuck us in? Yup, the " needs to be renovated" section. We had an awesome time in Vegas both times, but I will not stay at Caesars again, due to the old, run down condition of our room and wing of the hotel. It would be more acceptable if they weren't charging top dollar to stay there. It was a little bit cheaper than staying at the Venitian, but not much. i know Vegas is not for everyone, but we really enjoyed it. I did not go to gamble, but did play a little. We were more interested in walking the strip, going to shows, checking out Freemont Street, etc. One highlight I had the first time we went was going to "Exotics Racing" where you can experience driving a high end car on a racetrack. It was my nephew's 21st birthday, and he wanted to go. I only went to watch, but while there, I decided to take a " ride along" in a Corvette (my favorite sports car), with a professional driver. It cost $100, and only lasted about 5 minutes, but was the highlight of my trip! It was the best $100 dollars I spent there. Dale
4. Wow, what a bunch of heroes. I never thought I would say "good" when seeing a biker go down in a video, but I actually did this time. Too bad it wasn't a domino effect, cops could have had an easier job identifying them when they are lying on the ground.
5. Where are the moderators on this site when you need them? Disgusting pictures like that should be banned from this site! We got hit with that 4 letter word that starts with S this weekend too. I hate winter! Dale
6. I'm glad to hear you are staying positive about this, Puc. I hope all goes well for you and the docs get this fixed ASAP. Until we meet again, Dale.
7. I'm so sorry for your loss. They say dogs are mans best friend for a good reason, and it sounds very appropriate in your case as well. Dale.
8. Scott, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your father. I know words can't do much to ease the pain, but know that your VR family is thinking of you during this difficult time. Dale.
9. Ya, I'd say it is more dangerous than any other bike. I'd rather be AT the controls than be connected to controls with ropes and pulleys. Good luck with evasive manouvers when needed, and emergency braking seems like a long shot too.
10. Wow, what an idiot. He might just be a Darwin Awards nominee, once that crashes and kills him.
11. I am indeed jealous of your weather out there Kevin. It is a beautiful part of our great country with beautiful weather also. Try to keep us in your prayers when the snow hits out here.
12. I can't put a finger on it, but I will say, I am excited to ride each and every time I get on my bike. Riding has been my favorite thing to do since getting back into motorcycling 2 years ago, after a lay off of over 25 years. My highlights: It has taken me out of my comfort zone by doing things like going on a road trip to Vancouver last year, and to Venture West in Oregon this year - experiences I'll never forget. It is therapeutic to head out on a nice relaxing ride. It is nice to do something that not everyone will do, but many wish they did. It can also be a conversation piece, as I have noticed random people will strike up a conversation with me at gas stations, parking lots, and even at the occasional red light. Best of all, motorcycles are indeed cool, so, perhaps by association, we too, are cool!
13. Hmmm. If I remember correctly, the US has approximately 10 times the population of Canada. So, after doing the math, we Canadians are the top users, on a per capita basis. Not bad for a country covered in snow and ice for 5 or 6 months of the year.
14. Doug was over at my place the Saturday before this helping me change the oil in my bike, and mentioned the dinner coming up. I would have like to go and meet you guys, but we have a lot going on right now with family health issues. Hopefully they get resolved and free up some time soon. Dale

Near miss

Wow, that is truly frightening. It's times like those that makes one wish they were 6'6, 250 lbs of muscle and trained in martial arts, because someone needs an attitude adjustment!
16. I know your pain with having to do that. 3 years ago, we had to put one of our dogs down, then 3 months later, we had to put our other dog down. It is an extremely hard thing to do, and hurt very much. I swore that i would never get another dog, but my daughter talked me into it, and I am so glad she did. Time, and this new little dog helped heal the wounds from losing the others. I am so sorry for your loss. Dale.
17. It may have seemed strange to Tippy when I asked if I could give her a hug 10 seconds after I met you guys at Venture West, but after reading all of your posts here, it seems through all the adventures and misadventures, she just keeps smiling. I really enjoyed meeting you two. It is nice to see in person the folks we read about regularly. You are both amazing! Happy anniversary. (And thanks for the hug, Tippy!) Dale.
18. That looks very cool. It's good to see some competition for the go pro folks.
19. Hi all. Eck's latest thread about the hilarious voice mail reminded me of an audio clip of a news broadcast that I heard several years ago that I found extremely funny. I don't know if it is authentic, but it sure seems like it. I just found the clip on YouTube. Enjoy.
20. Now THAT would have been a good time for a dash cam, although his description of the incident was nicely detailed.
21. I sure hope you don't take this the wrong way, Scott, my friend, but I just had to post this. I was just at a Tim Hortons for coffee this morning, and a guy rode up with his little dog on the back, and I thought he looked familiar, some how. Dale
22. I too thought this was a joke when you first started describing your issues. I hope this gets ironed out quickly for you. All the best to you and Tippy. Til we meet again, my friend. Dale
23. That is a truely frightening story for those of us that ride. Not only do we have to watch for the idiots on the road, apparently we have to worry about something strange happening from the bike itself. It is amazing that you were able to walk away from a crash at that speed. I'm glad that you are here to tell the tale. Please keep us posted on any further developments. Dale.
24. Thanks, guys. I'll pass along the info. Dale
25. Hi guys and gals. My brother just picked up a 2004 V Star 1100 in what appears to be great shape. I told him that he should check to see if there is an internet forum for that bike, stating that our forum here has been invaluable in getting info on my Venture. Do you guys know much about this bike, and if there is a decent forum on it? Dale.
